I couldn’t bear that Liam was talking to my ex. They were laughing together… that should be me laughing with Liam. I just couldn’t bear it… I couldn’t help it but started to cry. I really couldn’t believe that Seung and Liam were getting along, and sharing laughs.
I just couldn’t help myself but cry. I ran to the "Employees Only" room. I shut the door behind me and sobbed on the bench used for changing. The manager's office door sprung open. My manager walked out with a concerned look on his face. "Are you okay, Ash?", he asked, "What's wrong?". I rubbed the tears off of my face and looked away from him. "It's nothing...", I said, "I'm just being dramatic". He sat down beside me on the bench, "Hey man, you know you can tell me anything." he admitted, "I know I'm your manager, but I'm also your friend", he said, giving me a sympathetic smile. I gave him a smile back, to the best of my ability. "Thanks...but I'll be okay", I lied. "Alright, just try to not let life get the best of you", he told me, patting me on the back and heading back to his office.
I took a deep breath and wiped the tears off of my red eyes. I sat there, staring at the lockers for a minute before I got the courage to go back to work. Liam was waiting for me when I opened the door. "Hey, are you okay?", he asked, "I saw you run out earlier", he put his hand on my shoulder. My heart skipped a beat, "I'm fine, I was just feeling sick," I lied. "Oh...okay", he said, he turned back around, "I hope you feel better", he walked off and back to the coffee counter, where he prepared an order.
Maybe I was just overreacting but it hurt for some reason. Seeing the person that hurt me with the person that healed me, it hurts a bunch. Just smile, Ash, just smile. Seung will leave soon and the problem will be gone! Ah, what’s this on my face? I put my hand up to touch my cheek, it was wet with fresh tears. I started to bawl my eyes out again, I couldn’t bear it anymore, the pain. I had to stop soon, I know that Liam will come through that door at any second now and witness me crying. But, it’s no use, I won’t stop.
I was right, Liam did come through the door. His expression went from calm to distressed. “Ash, are you okay!? Do you need to talk!?” I started sniffing and crying more. I was now on the floor, my face red. I put my hands over my ears, no longer wanting to hear noises. Oh no, here it comes, one of my panic attacks. My breathing became heavier and heavier, my heart pounded faster and faster. I could no longer see or think straight, my vision started to go blurry. I started to have a headache, I needed to calm down. My panic attack kept getting worse, no matter how much I tried, it got worse instead of better. I couldn’t calm down, I needed help. It was getting hard to breath…everything went black with the fading sound of Liam yelling my name.
