'Paul, what do you want for dinner? I'm going to the grocery store,' Thomas asks as he enters their room where Paul is studying. Paul doesn't respond. 'Paul?' Thomas asks and goes closer to him. 'I don't know, whatever is the cheapest,' Paul finally says with a crack in his voice. 'Paul, what is wrong?' Tom asks and turns the chair so he can look at Paul. Tears are streaming down his face. 'Nothing, just a little stressed,' Paul lies. Thomas hugs his boyfriend. 'I know you are lying,' Tom whispers. Paul starts sobbing and Thomas comforts him.
'I don't know if I can do this any longer,' Paul cries. 'What do you mean?' Tom asks and looks at the love of his life. 'This,' Paul says and points around at everything. Tom frowns. 'I can't keep studying while you work your ass of to keep this apartment and buy us food.' 'Paul, we've talked about this.' Thomas takes his hands and kisses them. 'I know, I just feel guilty,' Paul whispers. 'It's just for another two years and then you can go work your ass of,' Thomas says and gives Paul a kiss on his lips before he wipes away his tears. 'I love you,' Paul whispers. 'I love you too,' Tom says with a smile. 'I know,' Paul smiles and hugs Thomas.
'So, what do you want for dinner?' Thomas asks after a long hug. 'You chose,' Paul smiles. 'Do you want to come with me and take a break?' Thomas asks. 'I do,' Paul says and stands up to collect his coat and shoes. They hold hands as they leave the building and walk to the grocery store. An old man looks at them and shakes his head in disappointment. 'I hate people,' Paul says. 'I used to say that,' Thomas says in surprise. 'But yeah, we hate people,' Thomas agrees.
On their way back to their apartment, Thomas's phone rings. 'Hello?' 'Where are you?' Lucinda asks. 'Walking back from the grocery store,' Thomas says. 'Yeah, well, you need to take care of Ophelia the next few weeks. My hubby wants to go to the Maldives and she's going to be a burden,' Lucinda says. 'So he's your hubby now, eh?' Thomas chuckles. 'Get your ass over here Thomas Hanlin and take care of your child,' Lucinda says irritated. 'I'll be there in a minute,' Thomas says and hangs up the phone.
'Lucinda?' Paul asks. 'Yup. Ophelia is staying with us for a few weeks because her hubby thinks she's a burden,' Thomas sighs. 'I still can't believe you cheated on me with her,' Paul says shaking his head in disappointment. 'Me neither.'
'That took you long enough!' Lucinda lets out and puts Ophelia down, so she can walk to her dad. 'I said in a minute,' Thomas says offended. 'You should be here for you daughter,' Lucinda says. 'Says the one leaving her behind,' Paul says and grabs Ophelia's little hand as she stumbles forward. Lucinda glares at Paul, angry. 'Let me know when you come back home, so I can have her laundry done,' Thomas says as he pulls out the keys to go inside the apartment. 'Okay, bye bye Ophelia,' Lucinda says and waves at het daughter. 'Bye,' the little girl says as she enters the apartment with her father and Paul.
They put the groceries on the kitchen counter and turn to Ophelia. 'Do you want to change in your pyjama's and watch a movie while dad makes dinner?' Thomas asks the little girl. She looks at her father with her big brown eyes. 'Dada!' She says happily and stretches her arms out to her dad. 'You spend time with your daughter, I'll cook dinner,' Paul says with a little smile. 'Are you sure? That's not what I meant with a break form studying,' Thomas says. 'I'm sure,' Paul says and kisses Thomas on the lips. 'I love you,' Thomas says to Paul as he picks up the little girl.
