'C'mon Clara, we're going to be late,' Maia says to her friend walking behind her. Although Maia Ainsley is shorter than her friends, she's always the faster walker. 'Well, it's not my fault we're in a hurry,' Clara mutters. Clara Mason, the one who's always on time, except when she is with her best friends. Maia sighs and hooks her arm in Clara's. 'In a few minutes we are reunited. You no longer will have to deal with my chaotic timing alone,' Maia says and walks into the airport. 'Sookie is never on time, I always have to deal with two people who are late,' Clara says and unhooks her arm.
'There she is!' Maya shouts happily and points at Sookie. A girl with long blonde wavy hair and a backpack twice her size, is tripping over her luggage. 'She should be used to that many luggage by now,' Maia says, thinking of all the times her friend travelled to her family in the holidays. 'We should help her before she hurts herself,' Clara says and makes her way to the third friend.
'We'll help you,' Clara says to Sookie. She looks up surprised. 'Oh, my angels. Thank you,' Sookie says and hugs them both before she gives them a suitcase each. 'I missed you guys,' Sookie says. 'We missed you too,' Clara and Maia say. 'Thomas is to the bathroom, he will be here in a bit.' Thomas is her older brother and the best friend of Maia's brother Paul. 'Paul will be happy to see him,' Maia says. 'I may hope so,' Thomas says and joins the girls.
'Who's gonna drive?' Thomas asks. 'Clara,' Maia says. 'Oh no, I am not. It's your car, you're going to drive,' Clara says and takes a suitcase. Maia laughs and follows her friend. Thomas and Sookie follow the two girls with the rest of the luggage. 'She still hates driving?' Thomas asks his sister. 'Yup,' Sookie says and put the luggage in the trunk.
A one hour drive later, they reach their little cozy town Rose Hills. The four people get out of the Dodge Caravan and take their stuff. 'Mom will be happy we're back in one piece,' Thomas says and looks at Maia questioning if she should have a driver's license. Maia is a wild, chaotic and impulsive driver. If Clara could, she would've put three seatbelts on. 'Very funny Hanlin,' Maia shoots back.
The Hanlins walk to their front door and ring the bell. 'See you tonight!' Sookie says to her friends. Anna Hanlin - Sookie and Thomas's mother - opens the door. 'Come on in! I want to hear how it was!' Anna welcomes her children. Thomas walks past her and drops his stuff. 'It sucked. I'm going to Paul's,' he says and walks back out of the house. Clara and Maia already left. 'Hi mom,' Sookie says, ignoring her brother, and gives her mom a big hug. 'Careful, there might be some paint on my shirt,' Anna warns her daughter with a big smile. 'I don't care, mom.'
That evening, Sookie walks into Valentine's Diner. She smiles when she sees the place she missed for a month and a half. She takes a seat next to Clara who's reading a book. 'Where's Maia?' Sookie asks. Clara looks up from Stardust by Neil Gaiman. 'Convincing your brothers to join us for dinner,' Clara says and closes her book. 'Really? I just spent nine hours and a half on a plane with him,' Sookie sighs. 'I know. Maia just likes Thomas,' Clara says. 'What is there to like about my brother? He's rude to everyone,' Sookie says. 'He's not that rude. He's just in a conflict with himself. He's kind to us and Paul. And you.' Sookie looks at Clara like she stabbed her in the back. 'Don't look at me like that.'
Maia takes a seat at the table and not soon after, so do Paul and Thomas. 'Sister,' Thomas says and runs his hand trough Sookie hair. 'Ugh,' Sookie sighs heavily and slabs away her brothers hand. 'Tom, leave your sister alone. She already spent more than a month with you and a long flight,' Paul says and carefully takes the burger from his father. 'Thank you,' Sookie says and takes the vegetarian burger Valentine hands over. 'How was it with your father?' Valentine asks the Hanlins. 'Horrible as always,' Thomas says and takes his plate. 'Err... Okay,' Valentine awkwardly says. 'The weather was kind of nice,' Sookie says. Valentine smiles softly. 'Thanks for the dinner, dad,' Maia says. Valentine nods and takes another table's order.
After dinner the five teens make their way upstairs to the living room. Paul hangs his arm playfully around Maia's shoulders. 'Well, sis, should we stay with you or are you old enough to be alone with your friends?' Paul asks with a mischievous smile. 'We're old enough,' Sookie says. Clara laughs. 'What are you laughing at?' Maia asks. 'You just want Thomas to join us, but not your brother and Sookie wants the opposite,' Clara laughs. 'I don't want either of them to join us,' Sookie says. 'Well, now I'm deeply offended mini Hanlin,' Paul says fake sad with a hand on his heart. 'Grow up collegeboy,' Sookie says and sits on the couch next to the cat called Nacho. The boys leave the girls alone.
'So, how was Greece?' Maia asks and sits on the other couch next to Clara. 'Well, boring as always. My dad's always working and I had to spent time with Thomas and my stupid stepmother. She kept calling me Susan because she hates my name,' Sookie says while petting Nacho. 'Still? After 5 years?' Clara asks. 'Yup,' Sookie says. 'And did you met some cute boys?' Maia asks with a grin. 'Oh yeah, but my brother scared them away.' 'Why?!' Clara asks shocked. 'He's says long distance won't work with me.' 'He really is annoying,' Clara says nodding.
'Plus he thinks we shouldn't be speaking Greek anymore. As soon as I turn 18 we won't be going to there anymore.' 'Is that what you really want?' Clara asks. 'I don't know. I love my father and want to see him. But he's never there. Since my parents divorced and he moved, he stopped paying attention to us.' 'Oh, well, know that your mother will always be here and support you no matter what,' Clara says and reaches to Sookie's arm. 'You sound like my mother,' Sookie laughs. 'She gives this speech every year after you come back,' Maia says.
The three of them thinking about al those years Anna Hanlin would welcome the girls into her house after Sookie came home. Baking pancakes and watching movies. And the traditional speech Anna would give after hearing how boring her children's holiday was. She knew she had to make sure her kids knew she would always support them, no matter what.
In Paul's room, Thomas turns on the radio while Paul sits on the bed. 'Did you get my letters?' Paul asks after a quiet moment. 'Yes,' Thomas answers and sits next to his friend. 'Why didn't you answer?' Paul was a little hurt. 'You know I'm not that good with words, and we called three times a week,' Thomas says, not bothered at all. 'Tom...,' Paul sighs, taking Thomas's hand. Tom looks at Paul. 'I know, I'm sorry,' he finally says taking Paul's hand.
The two lean in, about to kiss for the first time since they're reunited as the door swings open. 'Maia wants to play Monopoly and you have to join,' Sookie says. The boys look at her, face flushed. 'Oh come on, I've seen you do worse.' Sookie rolls her eyes and walks back to the living room. 'She really has to learn how to knock,' Paul says and gets up.
