IV
It hard only been a week since I had met Bradley at the bar. And every day during that week, he had asked to meet me at the same café in the morning.
I couldn't deny that with each time I met him, I enjoyed my time more than the last. Even though all we did was talk about ourselves over a cup of tea.
With him, it felt like the simpler things were more enjoyable.
I sat down once I reached our usual table and smiled at him as he did the same to me.
"Earl Grey?" he asked, to which I nodded as my smile widened.
I watched his retreating figure, wondering where such a wonderful guy had been all along when the only guys that I met before were all jerks. As he got closer to the counter, his phone rang, causing him to reach into his pocket and pull it out.
"Hello?" I heard him say.
And after that, I didn't hear him say anything as he kept the phone pressed against his ear, occasionally nodding his head. It wasn't until the call was finished until I heard his voice again, this time at the counter where he made our orders.
A few moments later, he returned to the table with two cups of tea and two blueberry muffins on a tray, just like the first day. I noticed that he had a smile on his face. However, it wasn't his usual smile which reached his eyes.
I continued to look at him as he placed a cup of tea and a muffin in front of me. And as soon as I saw the tea, and smelled its aroma, I knew that he had given me his order instead.
"Is everything okay, Bradley?" I asked.
"Why do you ask?"
I pushed the tea towards him and looked at his face as a light of recognition took over his eyes.
"Oh I'm so sorry," he said, switching the two cups. I shook my head.
"No need. But what's wrong?" I asked him again. And this time, he took a long sigh before he spoke.
"I know we only just met but would you like to meet my family?"
