Aidoneus knew that Persefone wasn't motivated to listen to Chris and Ken's Q&A after her ex arrived at the festivities. He tried to lighten his mate's mood, but Persefone would give him a fake smile. Her eyes told him everything.
She was scared.
It angered the werewolf to the core since he believed that Persefone was in danger because her ex was crazy. Something had to be done with Edgar. Aidoneus knew that much but couldn't do much without Persefone knowing he was a werewolf. He didn't want to wait enough, as his father and Persefone needed to know the truth. When realizing that Persefone wasn't interested in the festivities as much, Aidonues suggested he could take her home. Persefone agreed and trusted him enough to tell him her address. "At least she trusts me; that's something at least." The duo left the festivities until they arrived and got inside the car. Aidoneus drove off; he and Persefone remained silent until he got to the freeway. "Sef, how are you feeling?"
Persefone looked out the window as she put her arms around herself. "I'm sorry, Aidoneus. I didn't want to bring my problems to you. I made a mess of things."
"Sef, there's no need for you to apologize. It's not your fault that your ex is crazy. He hid who he indeed was until you discovered it. I'm sure you wouldn't have dated him if you knew how he was initially. That mushroom-headed buffon has fragile masculinity and can't accept the fact that you have self-respect." Aidoneus then remembered something else. "You mentioned the possibility of him putting something in your phone. I think you should dispose of it and get a new one."
"Yeah, I'm going to go to the store and get a new one. I can't believe Edgar would be this insane."
"We can make a stop to get you a new phone. I won't be able to rest easy knowing of the possibility that he can still track you. Tell me the name of your phone company and we can make a stop."
Once receiving the information, Aidoneus was glad to see a store near her home. He eventually exited the freeway, and then he and Persefone got to the phone store, where Persefone picked up a simple phone. Aidoneus insisted on helping pay, but Persefone was adamant that she could pay it independently. The store clerk was asked if he could find anything suspicious and told him of the situation. The clerk became concerned and serious; he looked into the phone and opened it up. That was when he found a small chip that didn't go along with the phone; the clerk informed the duo that the chip was a tracking device. Persefone's fears were concerned, but she was then surprised that the store clerk would give her a discount on the phone, change her phone number, and put a safety app that would be free for three months.
The duo was grateful and patiently waited until everything was done. Persefone paid for her phone and left the store. However, Aidoneus secretly paid the clerk extra for his kindness and asked the clerk to give him the chip, which was done. Once he made it outside, Persefone waited for him by the car. "Aidoneus, there's no need for you to drive me home. I can walk since it only takes me fifteen minutes to get there. You did me a huge favor and-"
"No can do, Sef. I am not going to let you walk. I don't feel comfortable after what happened earlier in the day. Also, I have something important to tell you."
Persefone could tell that Aidoneus became slightly more serious but slightly looked away. After going through betrayal, hurt, and fear with Edgar, Persefone becomes anxious about whether Aidoneus wants to break things off. "Wh-Why can't you tell me now?"
"I think it would be best to tell you more privately. Please believe me that I will do nothing to harm you. Do you trust me?"
The young woman held her new phone tightly. Her mind was filled with caution of being hurt again. However, her heart told her that Aidoneus was different from Edgar; he respected her boundaries and had done much for her. "Uh, okay. I can invite you to my house. I know that you won't do anything to hurt me."
"You have my word." Aidoneus opened the car door for Persefone and closed it once she entered. He then entered his vehicle and, within five minutes, arrived at her home.
"My parents aren't home since they're in Mexico, but you can park behind my car so you don't have to struggle to find parking on the streets."
Aidoneus nodded as he quickly went through the gate entrance, parked, and turned off his car. The moss-colored house was decently sized, and the front yard had a large tree that gave the house shade, but pine cones and needles fell on the ground of the front yard, making it impossible for grass to grow. However, when taking a glimpse of the backyard, six trees were filled with lemons or clementines; the grass was greener. Once out of the vehicle, Aidoneus felt anxious but determined to follow his plan. Every step that Persefone took felt like agony and torture. The door being unlocked and opened made his heart pound faster. "I can do this! I know I can!"
Persefone motioned him to enter, which he did, and she eventually entered and closed the door behind her. There were two sofas with light brown cabinets and a small Christmas tree with little presents. The kitchen was close to the living room. The interior was clean and straightforward. "Would you like something to drink?" Persefone asked as she opened the curtains.
"Uh, no, thank you. I think you should sit."
"Alright." Persefone nervously sat down as Aidoneus stood in the center of the living room. What is going on? Do you have a secret to tell me?" She knew that keeping the text message a secret was wrong, but Aidoneus wouldn't get back to her. "Would he, though?"
"First of all, if you are thinking that I have an ex or another woman, don't worry, I don't. You are the only one I am seeing." Aidoneus then closed the curtains, making the living room darken. "You are the only one who I will continue to see. Before we can go forward, there's a secret you need to about me." He noticed Persefone becoming nervous, and he slowly backed away. "Do you believe in werewolves?"
"E-Excuse me?"
"Do you believe in werewolves?"
The young woman flinched. Her heart was fluttering; she read much about werewolves, especially on online sites. "Aidoneus, are you trying to say that you're a-a-"
The werewolf nodded as he slowly took off his shirt, exposing his muscular body; Persefone couldn't help but marvel at his physique. Then, she saw Aidoneus walking inside her parent's room. Suddenly, cracks echoed, and she noticed a light brown furry tail. A low growl was also heard; Persefone's eyes widened. "D-Dio?"
Aidoneus was in his werewolf form and slowly walked out of the room. He showed his mate what he indeed was. The duo were face-to-face and were silent. The werewolf noticed that Persefone's eyes were still widening, and he feared she was scared of him. Aidoneus lowered himself to the floor as if telling her he was harmless. "Please, don't reject me," he thought.
Then, Persefone slowly stood from her seat and walked to Aidoneus. He still kept himself lowered since Persefone could become frightened. When Persefone stood before him, she looked at Aidoneus, who was almost at her height and in a lowered state. Suddenly, the young woman hugged Aidoneus's head tightly, confusing him. "Oh my god! I can't believe that werewolves actually exist! This is a dream come true!" Her actions were unexpected, but Aidoneus couldn't deny enjoying her embrace; it felt warm. The werewolf wagged his tail excitedly. "Dio, you're a werewolf! D-Does that mean that you and I-?" Aidoneus nodded. Persefone hugged him gently as she put her head on his; they enjoyed each other's embrace.
When Persefone let go of his head, Aidoneus took the opportunity to return to the room and change back to his human form. He changed into his clothes and slowly walked out of the room. "That was my secret; I am a werwolf. I-I thought I was going to scare you and that you would..."
"Reject you? No, I would only reject you if you broke my trust. Now it all makes sense on why I felt a pull to you."
"Yes, it's because we're mates." Aidoneus smiled as he slowly walked toward Persefone. "The Moon Goddess has given me the gift of finding you before Christmas. Persefone, now that you know the truth, will you still give me the opportunity to let you know me and for you to know me?"
"Of course, I will still accept you! Hey, if you're a, does that mean your father is..."
Aidoneus nodded. "He and Maeve are together now; Pops said he will tell Maeve about his identity." He got closer to his mate and hugged her. "I feel at ease that I finally told you the truth. I guess you're more accepting than I anticipated."
Persefone got closer to Aidoneus and slowly hugged him; Aidoneus did the same. They enjoyed each other's embrace.
Meanwhile, Aidoneus thought about the next part of his plan: force Edgar to leave Persefone alone. An idea popped up, and a smirk appeared on his lips. However, he needed help and to ask his father for permission.
