The rain started at 2am in the first day of spring. Yet the ground was dry and the roofs are still decorated with snow. Nobody knew what’s going on but it flooded. The houses were invaded by glowing water, almost like molten gold. The omens have gathered; the time has finally come for them to take their revenge. Drim is nowhere to be found but by the way most of the waters are still held up above, Tolman just knew she’s there. 5 am was when things just got worst. The sky was tearing apart and the waters are already filling up the drains. This made the people panic and begin to evacuate from the lower region. And since his car was already submerged, Tolman grabbed her bike from the shop and used it to look for her. He rushed uphill, not minding any commotion that was going on since the golden waters were rising rapidly. Minutes later, he arrived at her doorstep breathlessly. He wanted to knock but he didn’t want to wait for Drim to respond so he took the hidden spare key from a hollow tree nearby and used it to enter. He ran across the kitchen and into the bedroom where he found Drim checking things up for a secure travel.865Please respect copyright.PENANAS0dYKyBUv3
‘Do you-’ he tried to relax with a deep breath ‘Do you know what’s happening outside?’
‘Why? Is there something wrong?’
‘You have to see this.’
Both went out to look at how the waters swallow up each house and establishment. Everyone was in the mountain and they don’t know how to deal with such a bizarre problem. The monsters were more fierce now, the gates are about to give away. They were like worms – dancing and struggling while pushing downward with their weights. They were visible to the common eye which is why all was suddenly hard to handle and some are losing their minds.
In her eyes, the waters were blue. Almost as blue as the sky it covered. It was her portion to guard and maintain but Drim is failing miserably – the gates are almost gone. The moment she saw the blue bicycle, she ran towards it. She used it to go to the town that turned into a sea. Tolman wanted to come, needed to come with her but he knows he’s useless in this situation. He’ll only be a hindrance to her potential.
Drim parked her bike at the bush before the violent waters. Then she approached and touched it with a finger. Her presence made it as calm as a lake. Next, Drim stood and walked towards glowing water. None of it would touch her, it retreated slowly back to the heavens as she goes towards the waterfall that caused the city to be flooded. It continued to rain but this time, it landed on the ground and evaporated. As it is, clouds began to form because of this process but it doesn’t end here yet. The omens came to her as one form. They were a gigantic yellow snake that was decorated with white patters.
‘Return to the gate fallen ones or else-’
‘Or else what?’ It spoke with a multitude of voices ‘You are not like them… We know. You want to settle this peacefully.’
‘What do you want?’ They never spoke to her like this.
‘We want forgiveness.’ It hissed ‘We want to go back home.’
‘Then your prayer is also mine… I want this to end as well.’
‘God listens to the candidates eagerly. We will hope for a good answer.’
Then it flew towards the sky and disappeared without a trace.
‘Will you forgive them?’ She whispered above before her eyes turned back to the empty streets.
Nobody saw what she had done so things were back to normal. Seconds later, nobody remembers what occurred and they all went back to their routines. Drim visited her work place for the last time, only to find Tolman fixing boxes from the storage room like he forgot that she’ll be leaving today.
‘Hey, umm… I’m going now.’ She really doesn’t want to go.
‘Huh? Did you get anything miss?’ This is His will; and it would be easier this way.
‘Ye-yeah. I’ll take these smoky nuts and energy drink.’ she immediately grabbed some stuff to make it look less awkward.
‘Ok.’ He walked to the counter and entered what she bought ‘Are you new here?’
‘What? Uh, no.’ Drim was fighting back her tears so perfectly that she plastered a fake smile ‘I’m just here for a vacation but I’m leaving today since… since it’s over.’865Please respect copyright.PENANAtSKig7hKfx
‘Oh, ok.’ He smiled and wrapped her goods ‘That would be eight and fifty cents.’
She took some coins from her pocket to pay for it before leaving immediately.
‘Goodbye…’ Tolman was confused in those seconds. It was as if he knows this lady but he can’t give a name or even a memory.
Drim rode the bus heading to another remote area. She’s going to live a new life now, everyday will be a new life now.
The End
