Jedrek got to Alesia's home and gently laid her on the bed. He sat on the other side of the bedroom. So many things were going through his mind. He was afraid of what Alesia would do or say.
Would she turn him in?
Would she be terrified of him?
Would she force him to leave?
So many questions went through his head; it made him even more nervous and afraid. He did not want to leave her. Jedrek wished to explain and let her understand that he wasn't entirely a monster. That all he wanted was freedom.
He made sure to go back and bury the dead soldiers, and as for the vehicles, he destroyed them, trying not to leave a trace. If the soldiers found him, the facility was not too far away; he could be found anywhere. However, since the soldiers were dead, he knew it would be difficult to track him. He had some time left.
Jedrek sat there waiting, and about thirty minutes later, he saw Alesia moving and groaning. He didn't make a sound. The young woman opened her eyes and then sat up from the bed. She looked around; when her eyes led to Jedrek, her eyes became wide, and her back hit the wall.
Jedrek stood; Alesia screamed. "Y-You! Wh-What a-a-are y-y-y-you!?"
"Please calm yourself, Alesia! Believe me when I tell you I will not and do not want to hurt you! I want the chance to explain!"
Alesia breathed heavily. "What are you!? How do I know that you are not lying!?"
"If I wanted to hurt you, I would have done so. I would have killed you if I did not want you to expose my secret. Please, let me explain, and you will know my truth. Please."
The scared young woman saw his face. She noticed the nervous look on his face but also his sincerity. She began to calm herself down but still kept her distance. "T-Talk."
Jedrek let out a sigh of relief and sat back down. "What you saw is one of my true identities. I am half-alien and half-human—basically a half-breed.
"A half-breed?"
"Yes, my father was an alien born on the Planet Mars, while my mother was a human."
Alesia put her arms around herself and cleared her throat. "R-Really? How was that even possible? How could that happen?"
Jedrek sighed and crossed his arms. It will all make sense if I tell you my parents' story. I will tell you how they met and how I came to be. It will be a while, but in the end, you will understand. It all started...."
Alesia listened to him as he told her everything; his parents, the lab, the scientists, childhood, and escape. It was silent between the two.
Jedrek sat silently, looking at the floor as he told the story. The scientists told him of his origin, and he felt amusement when they told him the story. Yet, the half-breed knew they were cruel and had no sympathy for him or his parents.
As for Alesia, she was aghast. She did not know what to say. There was so much to take in for such a short time. A part of her also did not know what to believe. She looked at Jedrek, who was looking down. It was as if he was ashamed to look at her. Sorrow filled her heart.
Jedrek's parents went through so much suffering and died horrible deaths. Alesia could not fathom how Jedrek would have felt and what he had gone through. "Alesia..."
She was interrupted by her thoughts.
"I know it is hard to believe me. I will not blame you if you don't, but please believe me when I tell you I would not lie."
Alesia bit her lower lip. "In a sense, you have."
Jedrek gave her his attention. "How?"
"When we first met, you lied to me. You never told me what you were."
The half-breed smiled. "You never asked if I was human or not. Technically, I didn't lie since you never asked." He then noticed Alesia raising an eyebrow and slightly pouting; he thought it was adorable.
"So...those men you killed..."
"They worked for the facility and scientists that kept my parents and me prisoners. I escaped from them. I have no intention of going back."
Alesia began to pace back and forth. She began to think for a bit and was hesitant to ask an inevitable question but felt she had to. "If they traced you, does that mean they are not far off?"
"It seems that way, but they keep their distance since they don't want to alarm other humans of my existence. I'm sorry, I should have told you, but I was afraid. I feared you would fear me if I told you the truth."
Alesia felt sad for him. Jedrek went through so much; he only wanted to live like an average human. "It is still hard for me to accept everything you told me. I am glad that I know who and what you are."
Jedrek felt relief, and he let out a sigh. He then stood from the bed and began to head to the door.
"Where are you going?" asked Alesia.
"I realized after today that I am putting you in danger. It would be best if you didn't get hurt because of me. I need to leave." As Jedrek was about to open the door, he felt a grip on his left arm. He turned to see Alesia holding onto him.
It made his heart soar.
