The half-breed heard vehicles and dogs coming closer. He ran faster, but exhaustion went through his body as time progressed. He was dehydrated and did not eat for days before his escape. He was punished for not obeying. Yet, the want for freedom gave him the will to continue it. The half-breed climbed and ran through the trees.
That was when soldiers fired bullets.
One of the bullets hit a tree that the half-breed ran by. The guards saw him. "Don't let him escape! We must turn him in alive!" commanded one of the men. The drivers of the vehicles pushed on the pedals, making the trucks go faster. The dogs were in the vehicles, barking aggressively.
The half-breed looked behind him. The humans were catching up to him, but he was determined not to get captured. That was when he stopped momentarily and climbed up to a very tall tree. The half-breed hid within the leaves and branches. The darkness made it more difficult for the humans to get a closer glimpse, and the half-breed used it to his advantage. The creature hid and breathed quietly, trying to regain his strength.
The vehicles stopped, and the lights were still turned on. The soldiers and their dogs exited the vehicles as they held onto their weapons. They commanded their dogs to search, trying to get his scent.
The half-breed began to move among the trees, trying to keep quiet. However, he stepped on a weak branch, which fell before a dog.
The dog barked, jumping and looking up within the trees. He was seen.
"He's up there!" The guards got their weapons and began shooting up at the trees. The half-breed jumped to tree after tree. A bullet hit his arm as he was about to go to another. He cringed in pain; it made him lose his footing, causing him to fall. His blood spurted out from his wound. One of the dogs got to him and bit him on the leg as he tried to get up.
The half-breed growled in pain as he felt his flesh torn by the dog. He made his right fingers grow into claws and killed the dog.
"There he is!" one of the soldiers took out a gun and shot a mere dart at him, which hit the half-breed in the shoulder. The half-breed refused to submit. Suddenly, his appearance changed, his skin cracked open, and another form appeared. Tentacles formed from his body and impaled all the soldiers and their dogs, killing them instantly.
Blood spurted out like rain.
The half-breed transformed into his human self and ran again into the woods. He ran farther and farther but then began to feel weaker and weaker, as if he wanted to take a slumber.
Slowly, his eyes began to droop. As he ran through the darkness, he saw a light. A light that came from a place that was unfamiliar to him. He got closer and closer until darkness overcame him once again.
..........................
The half-breed began to feel his senses again, even though he felt weak. Slowly, he began to open his eyes, there was a bit of darkness, but his sight was getting better as he opened them.
As he opened his eyes, the half-breed felt different. He felt as if he was lying on something warm and comfortable.
Finally, the young man fully opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was the ceiling made of wood. He then looked both ways; a curtain had a flower pattern on his left side. A fireplace, a small wooden table with two chairs, a small kitchen with an old-looking stove, cabinets, a refrigerator, and a sink were on his right. Far from the fireplace was a door leading to the bathroom and exit.
Confusion filled the creature. The half-breed tried to sit up but felt his body was too heavy even though he was slowly regaining strength. The half-breed was cautious but felt comfort, something he had never felt. He had to sleep on the hard floor of the facility as he was treated worse than an animal. The feeling was new to him, and he felt no danger. Slowly, he was closing his eyes again, but the door opened. He opened his eyes and turned his head towards the door.
Then, to his surprise, a young woman walked forward. To the half-breed, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Sure, he had seen women in the facility, but they were not as beautiful as the one before him.
Her skin was pale but brought out her youth. She had long, wavy, light brunette hair, golden-red tips, and light gray eyes. The young woman also had a thin but slightly curvy figure; her face was very youthful with slightly pink blush cheeks. Her soft pink lips were small and thin, making her seem more innocent. Many people who saw her would confuse her as an adolescent, even though she was an adult woman. She wore regular skinny blue jeans, a dark green t-shirt under a blue jean jacket.
She then put a bag on the table, looked at him, and smiled. "Oh, you're awake! Thank goodness! I saw you passed out in front of my house, and you were injured! How are you feeling?" She went towards him, but the half-breed moved a bit far. The woman noticed and kept her distance. "I am not going to hurt you. I just wanted to make sure that you are well. Are you feeling a bit better?"
The half-breed just looked at her without responding.
"The name is Alesia. What's your name?"
He still did not answer and just eyed her.
As for Alesia, she stood feeling awkward with the silence. "Okay, maybe you don't want to talk or can't understand me. I will make some food for you." She was a bit thoughtful and did a hand sign. "Eat?"
To her surprise, the half-breed nodded.
Alesia smiled. "Great, I will make spaghetti if you don't mind." She went to the kitchen and unpacked the supplies she had. As she did so, the half-breed still looked at her.
He was speechless. Yet two words were stuck in his mind.
"Beautiful Alesia."
