During a visit to the town market, you meet an extremely charismatic man selling bottles of liquid. His garb is made of a beautiful animal pelt, the pattern of which you don't quite recognize. His tricorne hat contained a single colourful feather from a bird you couldn't imagine existed. Clearly this man had traveled far and wide.
He stops you mid-step, telling you he has something that can cure your affliction. You look around, hoping no one else heard him. He leads you over to his wagon and sells you one of his bottles, claiming that it will completely cure all ailments by the very next day! You decide to buy a bottle, and down it as quickly as you can. He wishes you well before packing up his wagon and heading to the next town.
You wake the next day not feeling any different. Of course, that man was lying, he was a conman. Feeling depressed and embarrassed, you decide to leave the town as quickly as you can.
Along the road, you see the merchant's overturned wagon, and farther down the road you spot him, cornered by several cutthroats. It appears you have another choice ahead of you:
You could leave, after-all, he deserves whatever he gets for lying to you. You could even join in with the bandits, and get your revenge. Or you could save him, out of the goodness of your heart, or possibly the goodness of a reward.
If you decide to save him, you can fight the bandits, or choose to speak to them first. If you speak to them, you find out that they're actually dissatisfied customers, like yourself. From there, you can choose to join in, or kill the attackers.
