Fight or Flight?
Kyrarra warned Richard moments after that there are hostiles at the entrance of the arena. Richard swung around with his revolver drawn but saw how outgunned he was, there were six men carrying a multitude of weapons in the arena. Richard knew he was in trouble, so he aimed Lorentz to a huge pile of warped steel beams at the far corner of the room. It was a portion of the large set of remains of the steel seating aisles. Richard grabs hold of his revolver with two hands and thought "pull". The metal was too large and thick to move, but Richard was expecting that. So what happened next was that Lorentz propelled Richard to the aisles since the magnetic pull was so strong. Richard was being followed with a multitude of machine gun and laser rifle fire, many of the shots barely missing Richard. Once he got close to the aisles he thought "cancel" and the magnetic pull was no more. Richard then used his forward momentum to slide under the aisles, using it as a barricade. The leading raider shouted out to his allies "Kill him you idiots!". Richard thought to Kyrarra "I don't want to be here and fight this out, I am out manned and outgunned". Kyrarra then responding "Analyzing..." after a brief pause she reported to Richard "You have a total of two hundred and thirty seven available robotic beetles and seven robotic spiders. My recommendation master Charles would be to use the beetles to create an exit for yourself". "Good thinking Kyrarra, tell the available spiders to come to my location. I want the beetles to create my exit on the opposite side of the building". "Acknowledged" Kyrarra stated and started to get things underway. Richard called out to the dog in a tone slightly louder than a whisper "Come here boy, here boy" and then whistled quietly to him. Richard wanted to ensure the safety of the dog but he couldn't do so if he wasn't right next to him. Richard took note when the sound of gunfire stopped. He poked his head around the barricade to see a man load a grenade launcher. "Let's see the bastard hide from this" he said as the men around him laughed at the prospect. Richard was quicker on the draw though, he stood up to get a clear shot from his barricade opening and thought "power shot" and fired Lorentz. The one inch sphere was shot directly into the grenade launcher, warping the barrel to open wider to accommodate the intruding bullet. The man shot a mere fraction of a second after Richard. The raider wasn't able to process mentally what had just happened and hit the trigger on the launcher. When he shot the grenade launcher the weapon exploded in his hand obliterating his arms and injuring the four men around him. Richard dropped as fast as he could when he made his shot but it still wasn't fast enough, he was shot in his shoulder by one of the laser rifles from one of the sixteen men that were now opposing Richard. Richard sat down behind the barricade wincing from the pain. Kyrarra was programmed to worry for Richard's well being "Master Charles!". Richard had no time to talk though, he had to keep focused on the battle at hand. He wasn't bleeding out that badly so he knew that they didn't hit an artery. That would have to be enough for the time being, he removed his hand from his injured shoulder and looked up. He was a little surprised to see the dog actually came to him, he kept his head low and his tail tucked. He was scared but at least he was responding to Richard's commands. "Good boy" Richard whispered to which the dog slightly wagged his tail. Richard knew that the barricade wasn't going to hold forever from the onslaught of ammunition pummeling it. Richard slid along the side of the barricade lining Lorentz up for another shot at a different adjacent opening. He shot the three men that weren't behind cover. Richard shot the men in their center of mass, aiming for their body. He didn't have time to line up a perfect shot, mainly because he couldn't take anymore un-necessary risks. Since Richard did not specify what kind of shot power he wished to use, by default the gun was reset to normal strength. Richard shot one man in the center of the chest, another in the upper left part of his chest, and the last in the middle of his abdomen. The one inch spheres ripped right through their flesh, embedding themselves in the walls behind them. When the surviving raiders saw this they warned the others "Get behind cover fuckers, doing us no good if your dead!". Richard sprung right back to the cover he was hiding behind, shielding him once again from the onslaught. When Richard turned around he saw the robotic spiders standing around him, Richard grabbed them and stored the seven of them in his vest pocket. Richard thought to Kyrarra "Kyrarra I need a status report right about now". Kyrarra began informing Richard of the situation "Considering your body weight, height, and activity level the injury to your shoulder must be addressed in ten minutes from now or it is going to affect your ability to function responsively, if it is not addressed in an hour you will bleed out. You have two available shots left and Lorentz power reserves are at seventy one percent." Richard was starting to feel as if he may not make it considering the odds, he thought "Tell me some good news Kyrarra". Kyrarra responded after a moment of silence "Your Robotic Beetles are ninety eight percent done creating your exit. Also considering the amount of time that has elapsed you should be able to start feeling your injured leg." Richard moved his leg to inspect what Kyrarra said, she was right he could feel it a little bit. Richard turned around to look at the situation for a moment, he noticed that more and more men were flooding the room. There was no end to the raiders it seemed, he watched as multiple men with riot shields approached the area. Richard had to stop looking and hide behind cover again when the men started firing at where he peeked his head out. Richard used his ability to move and made his way cautiously to a different location. The dog assisted Richard allowing him to stabilize his injured side against the dog's back as the two of them moved. Richard was just happy to finally get out of the hot zone that they were concentrating fire at. Richard used his goggles to get a better view of the battle now that he was able to. His goggles were out of focus and he told Kyrarra to fix the focus within his mind. "Master Charles, the goggles are in focus". Richard shook his head from side to side and clenched his teeth, forcing blood to his head. Kyrarra was right, the goggles were fine. Richard's blood loss was effecting his vision, he was going to need to end this quick. When everything came into focus he could see how he was going to be able to do this. A Raider that was hiding behind two men with riot shields was aiming a RPG at where Richard was barricading himself behind. Richard knew that RPG was going to be his ticket out of this situation. Richard ran out and of where he was hiding, aimed Lorentz at the men with the shields and used his goggles to anticipate trajectory. Each one inch sphere broke through the riot shields, killed the men protecting the raider with the RPG, and shot into that man. There wasn't enough force left to kill him but they still had enough velocity to pack quite a hard punch. The man was pushed off his feet and gripped his chest where both shots had landed. Richard then aimed Lorentz at the RPG and thought "pull". Many of the raiders tried to grab it, ceasing fire to try and reclaim the weapon. A costly mistake on their part, it slipped between their grasp and Richard grabbed the weapon. Richard began flaunting it at the raiders, causing them to cease fire and barricade themselves. Richard had no intention on wasting the one and only shot he had on them though. He put Lorentz in his holster, threw a robotic spider to the injured cybernetic dog, and turned around and shot at the wall his robotic beetles had been working on making from the outside-in. Richard shot the RPG at the wall and upon impact it exploded creating a large thick cloud of debris. With the help of using Kyrarra to assist the German Shepard; Richard and both dogs escaped out of the hole. Richard wasn't able to move quickly though and could hear them approaching. He turned around to see three men with grenade bandoleers catching up. He pulled out Lorentz and thought "pull" and the mens' grenade pins on their bandoleers were all removed by Richard's gun. They stopped running to struggle and remove the grenades from themselves. A futile attempt that Richard used to his advantage to get more space between him and them as he continued his escape out of the tunnel. The men screamed in terror and then a loud boom shook the tunnel viciously. The shock wave from the grenades pushed Richard off his feet and was thrown forward, Richard's head smacked against the rock edge of the cave, knocking him unconscious.
