It was a beautiful day. Just cloudy enough that it wasn't so hot, but just warm enough that it was completely comfortable. The perfect day to get together with my 3 best friends, Chase, Jake, and Bailey. Chase and I were, and still are, really close. He's one of those people who teases you constantly and gives you grief about everything. Jake and I are too. So Jake, who played guitar, and for some insane reason, had brought it, was playing guitar. Chase and I decided to dance. On the volleyball court. Which is sand. Neither of us can dance. At all. He's also almost a foot taller than me, so either way, it wouldn't have worked out. I kick some sand in his direction, and he kicks back, and soon enough, we have a full blown sand fight going on. I, being short, didn't get much sand in his face.    My second favorite part of the whole fight was when I got sand in my eye. This sounds stupid that it was my favorite part, because it hurt really bad, but when I doubled over, he came over and was like "Oh my gosh, Avery, are you alright?" I nailed him right in the face with a handful of sand! And I'm the nice one!

  But, really, why I'm telling this story, is what happened only a moment after. As I said before, my face was covered in sand. Covered. Like a face mask, only worse. Whenever I would blink, I would get sand in my eyes, and my lips were covered. I kept getting sand in my mouth. Chase, who is tall, skinny, and looks kinda like the guy that teases you every day, tilted my face up and very, very gently, wiped the sand off my eyelids with his thumbs. He brushed it off the rest of my face too, so, so gently. It was one of those "You are deeper than you look" moments. Chase, who is a year older than I, and at a different school, and I continue to remain friends to this day.
