But only a few of us knew what it was. First we thought we would heal in no time but we were wrong days turned to weeks and weeks turned into months. And just when we thought things were bad enough, the RLA renewed their war efforts by sending in more drones instead of men.
It was 5:30 am when some scouts came speeding back on their bike and ran directly into the War Room where the Commander and his officials were busy making plans. I heard the sound of tank tracks and footsteps in the distance and that the next thing I knew was a barrage of artillery shells hitting us. We had managed to get the women and children to safety while most of the men were ordered to stay and help in the defense of the city.
A signal for reinforcements was sent and at last it was answered. The elements from the 10th Panther Battalion and 22nd Valkyrie Corp were on their way from their base in Kyoto. We then mustered up every able bodied man and told him that it was now or never. Later that day as the enemy troops began their offensive the sound of helicopters could be heard in the distance. Immediately, one of our sniper teams noticed the insignia and informed Command that it was one of ours. The next moment a barrage of missiles rained down on the encroaching drones and then troops got off from the helicopters and assisted us in taking back the city and driving back the RLA forces.
That night after we swept the entire city for any remaining enemy forces, a funeral for those fallen souls was held. We wore our best uniforms and held our berets in our hand and as we gave our final salute to our brothers in arms it began to rain. It felt as if even God did not want anymore of this kind suffering.
