It was a dismal night in the living room, as Katherine left him standing there, her words sinking in. Heh ad told her to tell him the truth. In turn, she had told him that she “never loved” him.

After promising to protect her from Silas and then breaking that promise, she ran like he knew she would. She didn’t get far though. She was still in the car she had wrecked and was injured. He could smell the blood, as he blurred towards the car and forced the door open.

Please be alive, he thought.

He listened for a heartbeat and found that she was still alive, but her injuries were killing her. He could hear her breathing growing shallow.

He snapped her seatbelt in two and gently pulled her into his arms.

“No. You don’t get to die tonight. Stay with me.”

He blurred towards the hospital.

Half an hour later, she was rushed down the hallway.

Later, she luckily lived.

As she lay in bed, dying of old age, she was stuck in the memory of finding her family slaughtered and weeping over her mother. When Damon went inside her head to torment her, he found her there.

“Get. Out. Of. My. Head,” she said angrily. Then the memory faded to when she first saw the Salvatores in 1864.
