We sat in my bedroom, oblivious to the time, chatting endlessly and munching chocolate wafers. There was so much to talk about, not to mention it had only been a few hours or so since we became friends. He was jovial. Again, unexpected. 704Please respect copyright.PENANAZZLcGkEj8e
We talked about his life and how he'll write his autobiography. 704Please respect copyright.PENANA1pw9fVLAM8
It was 10 o'clock and we were starving.
"What would you like to have for dinner?" I asked him.
"Anything would do. What do you prefer?"
"May 'n' Cheese?" This time I was sure that I was grinning.
"Would do. Shall I help you with it?"
"Nah! Even I don't help myself. I'm ordering it from The HotPots. Anything else that you might like?"
"Garlic Bread!" He screeched. Oh my god! This guy had a 5 year old living in him.
"Cool. "
We waited for the heaven in a box to arrive.
"Y'know, Debb. You know me now. But I'm still in the dark. Mind helping me out?"
Oh yeah. I practically knew him like we've know each other for all eternity but he knew nothing.
"Well, ask me questions and I'll answer 'em."
"What made you wear new contacts?"704Please respect copyright.PENANAgtcNf54vJb
I froze. Should I tell him? Can he keep my secret? I pushed my self in a deep thought when Tyler nudged me.
"It's complicated. Long story. "
"I've got a plenty of time."
So I sat there narrated the whole story to him about how I found myself transformed one morning till today. Except for the part that included cleaning my room and the hole in the freaking curtain. And of course, my childhood, my perfect little world.
He was shocked. Something I expected. Not that he freaked out. He was a good listener. Even after knowing me, he did not judge me. At all. We sat in silence that hurt my ears. So I decided breaking it.
"Tyler?"
"Hmm?"
"Can you keep my powers a secret?"
"Trust me. This remains between us no matter what. "
" Thank you. So much. "
" My pleasure. Debb, I've been thinking of us lately. Now that we are friends, why don't we call each other with nicknames that nobody else owns or plans to call us?"
"Great idea! How 'bout me calling you..... BLUEBERRY!" I squealed. It felt good.
"Oh yeah? How about you being my MUFFIN?"
I sat there. Awestruck. I loved blueberry muffins from the bottom of my heart. Did he too? What a coincidence.
But as soon as he called me muffin, a tear swelled up in my eye. My mother used to called me muffin. I really needed her.
Tyler touched my cheek and wiped the saline water off. That's when I realized I had been crying.
"Muffin?"
"S-s-orry. I-I just - um.. " I couldn't hold my tears anymore. They had been gathering from past two years.
Tyler didn't hesitate pulling me into his arms. He had seen me crying. He caressed my hair while I bawled my eyes out in his shirt.
"Wanna talk about it, Muffin? You'll feel better. "
"I killed her!" And with that I started crying again. After a moment, I sobered. That's when the food chose to arrive.
"I'll get it." I stood up to pay the delivery boy. Tyler pulled me back, handed the guy the amount and shut the door. I loved his caring chivalry, not to mention he himself.
"You didn't have to do it, Blueberry!"
"Oh I certainly did!"
"Thank you. "
"No problem, muffin."
And with that we let the prisoned-in-the-box pasta free.
"So, tell me my Muffin, why did you wet my shirt with your beautiful tears?"
"My mum used to call me Muffin. She died two years ago, on my birthday. I ran out of the house to the other side of the road, overexcited. She ran after me. Then suddenly I bumped into a tree and accidentally pushed her onto the road. That's when the freaking drunkard chose to come in the picture, overriding his car over her. I killed her. None of this would've happened if I did not run and bump into the tree! It was all my fault!"704Please respect copyright.PENANAyTLIazOkmn
I didn't know how I felt.
"It wasn't your fault, Muffin. Everyone has his/her own time. She had hers."
"Mmm.." I sobbed while shoving a spoonful of Mac 'n' Cheese in my mouth.
"Is it okay if I call you my Muffin? Would it be oka-" I cut him off.
"It's okay. I'd been longing for this word out from someone else's mouth."
He chuckled. God, his dimples were worth dying for.
"Thank you for trusting me, Muffin."
"Thank you for listening, Blueberry. Thank you for being with me."
Just as we decided to watch a movie, my phone vibrated. As soon as I saw the caller ID, I switched my phone off. Looked like Blueberries had noticed. As if he could read my face. I turned pale. He asked for my permission and surfed through my cell while I told him that I had been receiving prank calls from past three nights. Dread replaced the frown on his face.
"What is it, Blueberry?"
"Do you know him?" He asked, showing me a picture of a well built, tan toned and dark headed guy. I nodded my head in disagreement.
"Oh okay. Just make sure you avoid him in future. I believe he's the one who's been disturbing you."
I looked at the clock. 00:24 glowed in red on the night stand. Pretty late for him to return home.
"I suggest you stay here tonight. It's pretty late, Blueberry. It doesn't feel right."
"Um- I - okay!" he said looking at his clothes. Sure he cannot sleep in those. I left the room and a moment later, returned with a pair of pyjamas and a dark jumper. It was Bryce's.
"Here! Put these on!" I said as tossed them to him and shut the door as I left the room to his privacy.
A moment later the door creaked open. Blueberry came out and stuffed his hands with two huge sofa cushions.
"What are you doing? You're supposed to be sleeping on the bed." I spoke in a 'duh' -tone.
"Where will yo-"
"On the recliner. Now, Blueberry, have a good night's sleep. "
" You don't have to do this for me."
"I think my recliner needs some bonding time with me. It misses me a lot." He giggled.
"Good night, Muffin." He yawned and dropped himself on the bed with a thumph. Even in the sleep, he looked like a star from the Vogue Magazine.
The next day I woke up with a sticky note stuck on my palm:
' Thank you for being my best friend, Muffin. Xx'
