The day at school was even better than what I had expected after welcoming Blueberry in my life. Everyday or two, he came to my place or I visited him. The assignment was due next month.
Today when I stood near my locker, emptying my bag into it, Bri squealed in my ear, making me jump out of my mind.
"Are you two a thing?" She asked as if she was supposed to be with him.
"What? No! Why would you think that?"
"Just making sure. He needs my approval before booking my best friend all for himself." she said as if I was going to be divided into two halves, one for each of them. Lol.
I pushed my brain for some witty comeback. The bell rang. The crowd started walking helter - skelter, inconsiderate of their surroundings.
I slammed my locker door shut and took a 75° turn in the direction of my class. That's when I bumped into someone's chest. Ugh! I let out a frustrated groan and apologized for the sake of apologizing. I had no intention to look at the face of the person I had ran into.
"Excuse me, can I borrow you for a minute? Please, it is important."
"Yeah. What? I need to rea.... " My voice trailed off when I looked at the owner of the voice. He was the one Blueberry warned me about.
"Sorry I need to leave!" I hurried down the corridor in my class.

As soon as the bell rang for the lunch, I took out my phone and starting typing:

After a few seconds, my phone notified me:
Blueberry: 'K. In one.'
I grabbed a pack of Cheetos from the cafeteria and ran to The Place.

We met there a minute later, both of us filling our lungs with air.
"You look scared. What happened, Muffin?" He was genuinely concerned. I was lucky to have him.
"The guy. The one you asked me to stay away from. He's been stalking me since morning. What should I do? I have a very bad feeling about it."
"Don't worry Muffin, you have me now. I won't let anything happen to you." I smiled inwardly at this. He cared for me. I did, too. "What do you have after lunch?"
"IT. What about you?"
"Good. I have the same and after that we both have free lectures. We'll leave. My place. "
"Sure." I replied handing him my packet of Cheetos. He grinned and accepted my offer.
The Guy was in IT as well. I sat behind Blueberry, blocking my view and focusing on our teacher's words.
As soon as the bell rang, I grabbed Tyler by his hand and dragged him out. But outside waited The Guy. But Blueberry took care of him.
"Hey, dude. What's the matter with you? Why are you after Debbi, huh? Mind explaining your reason for harassing my girl on a phone?" His girl. Whoa.
"It wasn't me. It was my cell phone but it wasn't me. I swear. It was stolen a few days ago on the airport, when I transferred here. Maybe the thief has been using it."
"How did you have my contact?" I yelled, who knows how loud.
"Well, I am here to train you. I am Zach Matthews, from NOVO, the planet where you belong."
"What the hell are you blabbering about? I belong over here. I lived my whole freaking life here and you're appearing out of nowhere and telling me I belong to some alien planet? What kind of prank is this, dude? Jealous much? That I've got a life? And even if you weren't jealous, why should I believe you?"
"Calm down, Missy. I have no interest in training you. Like at all. But that's my duty and if I succeed, I get to return to NOVO. And back to the part of believing me. Can you frickin' explain what the arrow head mark at the back of your neck is? Scratch that. Can you explain me your powers? How's a normal earthling supposed to have those, huh?" He was practically whisper yelling. But it was true. I always wondered what that mark was. I stood there, speechless. Even Blueberry did not speak.
"It's my cue to leave now. I hope you stuff some sense into that thick head of yours and meet me near the bridge downtown every afternoon. Bring him with you if you're scared." And with that, he left. Leaving me and Blueberry totally dumbstruck.
"What do I do now?" Blueberry smiled at me.
"Maybe you'll learn self defense and how to use your powers. I say go for it, Muffin. BUT! I get to come with you"
We reached the mentioned location after school. It was beautiful but isolated. How come nobody lived here?
Without any second thought, we crossed the bridge and walked towards the front porch of a small mansion. I could hear birds chirping.
After waiting for what seemed like eternity, a robotic voice was heard.
"Please scan your eye on the red spot to your right." I obliged. The door opened, revealing high tech machinery. We entered and the door shut behind us. There stood Zach.
"What a pleasant surprise! Thought I wouldn't see you today, young lady. Peace then. Change into the suit Kelly shows you. Oh! Here she is." He was being sarcastic.
A girl in a black lambskin jumpsuit with long brunette hair appeared in front of us.
"Hey there! I'll be your training partner o'er here. Come, I'll show you around." I followed Kelly while Blueberry stayed with Zach.
"Here's our room. Whenever we'll be here, we use this room. Now go change into the white suit. Every training pair has a white and a black serrku, meaning cousin. You'll be the white because that includes powers and strength and I'll be the black. The one with the visions and black magic. But there are rules. You cannot, under any circumstances, lie to your serrku, or else there'll be severe punishment. Anyways. I don't know you yet. Introduce yourself! " She said in a cheery tone.
"I'm Debbi Stones. I'm 18 years old and it hasn't been a long time since I found the truth about myself." I tried maintaining my voice to a normal pitch but words came out like I was speaking while choking on my own spit.
I looked around in our room. I wonder how long it must've taken to build this place. Kelly and my room was ivory white. Wow. A commiboard was attached to the wall. It was like the electronic news board. I wanted to explore more but Kelly reminded me to change in my suit. I eagerly did what I was asked to. It fit me like a glove, hitting my curves in all the right places. I was just about to ask Kelly when the training started, when she spoke, "The training is due in a minute. 3 late arrivals per month are excused. The fourth one is followed by a punishment. I never had it. Not that I want to."
"Can you read minds?" I asked, wondering how she came to know what I was going to ask.
"Of course not, Debb. I had a feeling you might want to know."
"Oh yeah. Visions. I get it." It felt good to have a friend of the same age training with you.
I followed her and in no time we were in a room where all the trainers and pairs of students had gather. There were people who were in blue suits. I noticed Blueberry was one of them. When I asked Kelly about it, she said that almost all pairs had a normal person, ie, a non-Novian aka earthling friend. I got to bring my friend because Kelly said she didn't have one on earth.
I could feel a pair of eyes staring at me. It turned out to be Blueberry. I smiled at him which he returned with a thumbs up.
We were taught about some elixir today that gave us power to stay hidden from the world and some easy kicks were demonstrated to us. We were also given some big goodie box. Turned out to be weapons. And last but not the least, we weren't allowed to discuss anything that happened here to the people outside this mansion. But I had Blueberry. He was the only one I wanted to talk to right now.
I reached my room only to find Kelly waiting for me.
