Scene 2 opens with Veronica and SVF talking to Warrior
Veronica: Warrior, we received a call from your school today.
Warrior: I know, mom. They called you about what happened to that jerk, Blake.
Johnny/SVF: I understand that you only wanted him to be “brought to justice” but you can’t do it by sending them to the hospital! *sighs* What exactly did you do to him?
Warrior: *sighs, then speaks hesitantly* I broke his jaw and dislocated his arm.
Veronica: *holds her hand over her mouth with a look of shock on her face*
Johnny/SVF: *whispers* Oh, shit.
Warrior: Dad, I’m really sorry! I didn’t put him in the hospital on purpose!
Veronica: You can’t do that to bullies, Warrior! I know it’s hard not to, but the only thing you can really do is ignore them, ask them politely to stop, or tell an adult.
Johnny/SVF: Let’s not forget, you should also pray for them.
Veronica: Exactly!
Warrior: But why should I pray for my enemies? They don’t deserve it!
Johnny/SVF: None of us do. All of us have done just as many evil things as those bullies have.
Veronica: The Bible talks about how God sees all sin as the same. Telling a lie is just as evil as murdering someone in God’s eyes.
Warrior: Are you serious?!
Johnny/SVF: Very serious. Your mother gave me that same talk when we first met. *grins as he gives Veronica a look*
Warrior: *looks to SVF, then to Veronica, then back to SVF* So, why don’t I go to jail for lying, but I do for killing someone?
Johnny/SVF: Our society needs a system for punishing crimes. In their eyes, some are worse than others. But that’s their worldly system. But God hates each sin equally. But God also forgives each sin equally.
Warrior: So… after what I did, God will still forgive me?
Veronica: Absolutely!
Warrior: *pauses for a moment* Do you think Blake will forgive me?
Johnny/SVF: You’ll never know unless you ask.
Warrior: Yeah… It’s just so hard cause he’s such a jerk.
Veronica: Well, God’s working on him. He just hasn’t necessarily opened his heart to him yet.
Warrior: Oh, I see.
Johnny/SVF: Just pray for him, okay?
Warrior: *nods his head* Okay, I will. *gets up and heads to his room*
Johnny/SVF: *sighs*
Veronica: *walks up to SVF and wraps her arms around him*
Johnny/SVF: It feels like he was only a toddler just yesterday.
Veronica: Now look at him. All grown up. Getting in fights.
Johnny/SVF: *chuckles* Yeah. He’s growing up pretty damn fast.
Veronica: *chuckles briefly before turning and kissing SVF*
Johnny/SVF: I love you so much, my dear.
Veronica: I love you so much too, my darling.
Johnny/SVF: *grins*
Veronica: *sighs and rests her head against SVF’s chest* What are we going to do with him?
Johnny/SVF: I don’t think there’s much to do. We can’t exactly tell him not to be a good person.
Veronica: So, pretty much just no hospitals.
Johnny/SVF: *chuckles* Yeah. Pretty much.
Veronica: But I know that he won’t do something like that again.
Johnny/SVF: I just don’t want him to become like me. I’ll do everything I can to make sure he’ll be a great fighter without being a killer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blake: The doctor said it should heal up in a few weeks to a month at least.
Yvonne: I still can’t believe he did that to you!
Blake: That little twat is gonna get what’s coming to him.
Jacob: You’re damn right he is!
Warrior: *walks down the hallway, his head down slightly*
Blake: *spots Warrior* Hey, pussy!
Warrior: *walks right past Blake, avoiding eye contact*
Blake: Hey! *starts following Warrior* I’m talking to you, dickhead!
Warrior: *continues walking and ignoring Blake*
Blake: Stop ignoring, asshole!
Warrior: *turns around and shoves Blake into a locker* Shut up!
Blake: *starts breathing heavily, almost scared*
Warrior: Just shut… the hell… up. *walks away from Blake*
Yvonne and Jacob: *walk up to Blake*
Jacob: What the hell just happened?
Yvonne: We need to do something about that jackass.
Blake: Don’t worry, we’ll do something about it. I’ll make sure of it.
Felicity: *shuts her locker* Can it, you dumbasses. Last time you tried to do something you talked about you ended up in the hospital. You had it coming if you ask me.
Yvonne: You’re just like Warrior.
Felicity: How so, Yvonne?
Yvonne: Uh…
Felicity: That’s what I thought. *walks away and looks for Warrior*
Warrior: *continues walking down the hallway*
Felicity: *catches up to Warrior* Hey, Warrior!
Warrior: *looks over at Felicity* Hey, Felicity. What’s up?
Felicity: *stammers* I just wanted to tell you how brave I thought you were for standing up to Blake. That jerk is a real pain in the ass.
Warrior: Tell me about it. *sighs*
Felicity: Is something bothering you?
Warrior: I got in trouble for sending Blake to the hospital.
Felicity: That douche-bag totally deserved it.
Warrior: Maybe, but… it’s not like me to do that to someone.
Felicity: What the hell are you talking about?
Warrior: I wanted to bring him to justice, but both of my parents told me that all I can do is just ignore him, tell an adult, and pray for him.
Felicity: Pray for him? You guys Christians or something?
Warrior: Yeah, my whole family and I are.
Felicity: Oh… Sorry I didn’t mean to offend you or anything if I did.
Warrior: It’s okay, you didn’t.
Felicity: I don’t believe in any kind of religion. I’m kinda… freelance.
Warrior: So, you’re an atheist?
Felicity: Pretty much, yeah. I haven’t had really any hope ever since my dad died a few years ago when he was sent out to Afghanistan for work.
Warrior: He served in the military?
Felicity: Yeah. I was only 9 years old when he had left the house for his mission. *sniffles* I turn 10 years old only to find out that my father was gunned down… that I was never going to see him again.
Warrior: Oh, man, Felicity. I’m… I’m really sorry to hear that.
Felicity: *dries her eyes, then exhales sharply* It’s fine. I’m just glad he doesn’t have to sit on this shit planet and suffer like the rest of us.
Warrior: *sighs*
Felicity: Sorry to be ranting on like this.
Warrior: It’s okay. I don’t mind being ranted on.
Felicity: *snickers and smiles* Good to know.
Warrior: I’ll remember to pray for you, your mom and your dad, okay?
Felicity: Oh, okay. *clears her throat* Thanks.
Warrior: No problem. We still meeting up in the school library later?
Felicity: Hell yeah! I’ll be there for sure!
Warrior: *grins* Okay, cool. See you then.
Felicity: Bye!
Warrior: *walks away*
Felicity: *exhales strongly* Oh… man… he’s so handsome when he’s calm. And sexy. *clears her throat again* Oh, geez, did I just say that out loud? Crap. *quickly walks away*
