"Owner of a lonely heart, owner of a lonely heart, much better than a, owner of a broken heart, owner of a lonely heart ..."
I sang silently along to the song from the 1980s band called 'YES' while making myself ready for my dinner date, making sure my dress was right, my hair and my make-up. It was clear this isn't the first impression but I wanted to make an impression anyway. Liam and I are in a relationship for a few months now and things are going well. The last few dates we couldn't make it because of work but tonight definitely will. He works in an art gallery and I work in a forwarding company. Our working hours can vary over time but we both have an eye for the art and share similar perspectives in life. As soon I was ready I grabbed my car keys and drove to his place. My heart raced with excitement as I pressed the door bell and smiled. I wonder how he reacts when seeing me with make-up and an elegant dress? After a long moment of waiting I pressed the door bell anew, I hope nothing terrible has happened. I checked my phone, there was nothing that I oversaw. I knocked on the door and called his name. "Liam? It's me, Fia. Is everything alright?" I turned the handle and the door opened. Everything looked clean and in order yet I had a feeling that something was amiss. "Liam?" I wondered as I cautiously entered and began to look around.580Please respect copyright.PENANAFPixUANZph
"Over here Fia." Spoke Liam softly. I turned to where I heard his voice and found him standing across the room with a broad grin. He wore dark a blazer with a white shirt beneath but it was stained with red-
I gasped as I noticed and placed a hand over my mouth. "Wha-what happened?" I stuttered while trying to remain calm and hoping it is not what I think it is.
Liam sniggered with delight. "I just had an idea, an inspiration. You helped me broaden my horizon, you are my inspiration." He walked up to and held my hands gently while looking into my eyes.
Terror struck my body and was petrified as I looked into his ocher brown eyes. Aside his lovely scent of deodorant and after-shave I scented faintly something coppery. I looked down to our hands. "Fia?" He asked concerned.
I looked up. "I'm confused, is this-"
"Let me show you." He smiled and led me to the living-room. The room was bare in its white walls except the wooden floor was almost completely covered in this strange red and brown colour. I recognized immediately it wasn't paint due to its coppery smell. This is blood without a doubt. I let go of Liam and stood frozen while staring at the floor. There were many droplets of blood as if a body was dragged on the floor. I began to shake my head. I wanted to ask what he has done but I couldn't find the words.
"There is nothing to be afraid of, my dearest Fia." Liam wanted to embrace me but I kept my distance from him. "Fia, I could never harm you. You are the inspiration."
"D-did you kill someone? Whose blood is this?" I found my words after a moment of silence.
"Why does it matter? I know that together we can do great things and overcome any obsticle. We are made for each other. We are artists on a high level." Liam spoke filled with joy and enthusiasm as if it were related to a painting or sculpture and not the blood that I saw. "Darling, don't sell yourself short. You are talented and it should be shared." He spoke softly while wanting to touch my face, I stepped back.
"It does and tell me what this is." My words came out in a whisper. This isn't the same man that I've known before. Why would he do something like this? All because of me? Because of love?
