Chapter 4: “An interesting encounter”
“Cathy? Where must’ve she go?” Howl got worried, he then grabbed his bag and went looking for her.
[Howl heard footsteps coming to his direction]
Howl found a pocketknife underneath his slippers, he grabbed it and used it as his weapon for self-defense. He then held his pocketknife like he used one before, he was murmuring to himself if he could do it or not. Howl is hiding behind a tree, a weird one. The tree has sharp branches, it’s like the tree is alive or something---
The tree looks like it has two holes for its eyes and a large, wide mouth. The tree moved; its roots came out from the ground. The tree grabbed Howl’s legs and dismantled his left foot.
[Howl screamed for help, but nobody came]
The tree threw Howl on the ground, Howl coughed blood. He used his pocketknife to cut the branches that were holding his legs. He escaped with a broken foot; he was having trouble escaping the tree.

-- Howl felt hot and cold at the same time at his stomach,
- He then realized that a sharp branch went inside his stomach.
[Howl vomited lots of blood]
[He then went unconscious while blood is pouring from his stomach]

{Thursday, 8:20 AM}
[Howl woke up…]
\: “While Howl was asleep, Cathy on the other hand went for a long walk. She found a wounded person; she went closer and asked if the wounded person can walk for, they can get to the nearest clinic. When Cathy helped the wounded person, she noticed that the wounded person has pointy ears. She just ignored it and continued to help the wounded person; they’ve arrived on a large tree; its size is like a medium house. Cathy got curious and asked the wounded person’s name, he replied with “Poland, thanks for helping me, kind human.” Cathy then walked back to where Howl was sleeping.”
“AH! Oh, it’s just a nightmare…” Howl said while panting, he then looked around and found out that Cathy was there in front of him afraid and terrified. Cathy pointed at Howl.
“What?” Howl told Cathy, “Behind you!” Cathy shouted. The tree that appeared on Howl’s dream was behind him, he front-rolled and dodged the tree’s attack.
|| (Rumble, Rumble) || Roots started to grow beneath them…
[Howl and Cathy felt rumbling underneath them]
-- Roots appeared and broke the ground, the rumbling grew stronger. The tree destroyed Howl’s bag and tore a bit of Cathy’s skirt.
- This is one of the most dangerous encounters that Howl experienced in his life.
Howl grabbed Cathy’s hand and ran; the tree was chasing after them and then suddenly the tree shouted while chasing the two. “I am Slyth, The Forest’s Unholy Tree”. Cathy tripped on a rock, Howl held her hand and then carried her. He’s not that strong but he tried his best to carry Cathy and find a place for them to hide.
--- they did.
The two found a big rock and hid there, both of them were exhausted from the running so they sat down and covered their mouth because of the heavy breathing.
-- Slyth can control the forest, he is one with the trees. He heard panting and felt sweat from the ground. He then roamed around; he saw footsteps coming to that big rock. “You, children. Must be underestimating me.” Seth grinned.
{Thursday, 11:10 AM}
[Howl found a pebble, he then grabbed it]
[He was thinking of throwing the pebble on Slyth’s large glowing orange eyes]
-- but he didn’t.
Howl threw the pebble above the rock to distract Slyth, “You think that’s going to work on me? You foolish children”. Unbelievably, it worked. Slyth stared the pebble while it’s on the air, Howl and Cathy then made a run for it. They ran as fast as they could, they arrived at the main road and went north. The two of them then found a local bar. Luckily, Cathy brought a bit of money with her.
[They went in…]
A brown-skinned Asian with dead eyes, wearing a big black t-shirt that has Japanese kanji on it went in front of Howl and Cathy…
He then asked the two if both of them were a couple. Cathy and Howl blushed at the same time.
He then gave them a fresh pear, Howl and Cathy was confused and asked. “Why did you give us a pear?”

- the guy couldn’t help himself but laugh out loud
Howl didn’t get it…
On the other hand, Cathy likes puns and jokes but that one was really bad, so she just chuckled.
