I came to a three way street. A network of restaurants and businesses. I kept on walking in till I saw a green sign, I quickly ran up to it. It was some town with a 10,000 some people. I picked up the pace to the nearest town. I picked up the pace to a quick run. Ten minutes later. A library came up. I guess I’m getting closer. I walked in the library and opened the door. Sadly there was no one in it. I brushed it off. I quickly went to the bathrooms. I locked the door. I got some paper towels and turned on the faucet. I let the cool water bleed on the towels. I wrinkled it and started getting the grime and dirt off my face; I gave my arm pits a good swipe. I opened my bag and put on some deodorant.
I quickly got out, and ran out of the building. I steeped on the sidewalk and toke a right to the Downtown sign. I quickly found the quite town of…whatever it was. I walked down to the shops and went in to a busy, 50s styled breakfast joint.
“Honey, just sit anywhere. If you can find a spot.” A busy waitress told me.
I looked around and saw one of those spiny chairs on the bar. I quickly sat there, the same woman came up to me and handed me a menu. She looked at me for a little while, “You’re not around here, are you?” she asked me.
“No, I’m not.” I told her. I opened up the menu. Three stacks of chocolate chip pancakes! My wolf howled at me, she’s such a child.
“What can I get you to drink?” she asked me.
“Um…Coke, please.” I asked her.
“Alright. Look around the menu. I’ll go get your drink.” She said, and walked into the kitchen.
I put down the menu, and looked around the walls, they had a bunch of those really cool metal sighs of like the old coke signs and Rosie the Riveter. Have you ever done that? While you’re waiting for your food you curiosity sticks to you like glue. You can feel it. It happens so fast but yet you let it happen.
She came back and gave me my coke, I toke a sip. It burned going down my throat, but tasted so good. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Are you ready to order?” she asked me, taking out her notepad.
“Yes, I would like three stacks of chocolate chip pancakes, please.” I told her, I handed her the Menu back. She scratched some stuff on her notepad and went to the counter with a peep hole through the kitchen. She handed it to the chef; he handed her some plates and she went to go to serve those.
I take another sip of my coke. I heard the bell ring and four guys came strolling in. I turned my head back to my drink. The first one is an alpha, the second is the beta and the other two are Third-in-Command. Shit! There sitting right beside us! I ignored the last part.
Thanks…I think. I take another sip of coke. I reached into my bag and pulled out a hair band. I quickly put my hair up in a sloppy bun. I take another sip of my coke and next thing I know the waitress lays down my pancakes.
“Thank you.” I told her.
“You’re welcome, sweetie.” She told me, “Can I get you boys anything?” she asked them.
“Dr. Pepper.”
“Sprite!”
“Chocolate milk.”
“Water…”
“All right! All right. I’ll get them.” she wrote them on her pad and went back into the kitchen.
I open up my napkin and grab my fork and knife. I started cutting in to my knife. I quickly finish my pancakes. Taking the occasional break for cook, I really didn’t stop in till it was all gone. But let me tell you it was like eating a cloud from heaven.
I grabbed my bag and got out of my seat and paid for my food. Making it outside. I started just walking to the other side of the town, which surprise; surprise was another bunch of woods. I walked on the small piece of grass side they had between the road and a small drop. I could see that it also covered the alpha’s land. Wouldn’t want to be in that trap. I continued walking when all of a suddenly a dark red Challenger came zooming by.
I lost my footing and slipped on a stick. OK! I was wrong, it wasn’t a drop…It was a FUCKING hill. I fell back first; the air was knocked out of me as I continued to fall. I finally felt the ground not moving. I tried to stand up but it felt like I had something weighing me down. I fell back down, my eyes started dripping. I tried to pry them back open but they were too heavy. Blackness was the last thing I saw as I passed out.
I felt someone poking me. Then another poke. I slowly pried open my eyes. Shit! It was those guys from the diner! I backed myself up as much as I could, as far away as I could from them.
“Hey! She’s alive!” the guy poking with the stick. The alpha pushed him out of the way. The beta had dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes.
“What are you doing on my land? Where’s your pack?” The alpha asked me.
“I-I fell…” I pointed up, “I was walking and this car came by out of now where, and I tripped over a stick and fell…and for my pack…I ran away from it.” I told him.
“What was the car?” he asked me.
“I think it was a…red Challenger.” I told him.
He cussed which made me blink in fear, “Damn it Tony!”
“Why did you run away from your pack?” the beta asked me. He had dark curly black hair with emerald looking eyes.
“I was treated as a slave…they forced me since the day I showed up on the porch and could walk.” I told him.
“Your parents left you there!” he asked me.
“Yea…”
“What about your mate?” he asked me. His question made me crawl up into the fetal position.
“He…raped me then rejected me.” I whispered.
“What” he asked, like he couldn’t hear me.
“My mate raped me then rejected me! Hey can you hear me now?” I yelled at him before my hands in then cool dirt.
“I-“
“Sorry?” I asked him, “You don’t have to be sorry for anything it’s not your fault.”
“Can you walk?” the alpha asked me.
“Of course.” I told him.
“Seriously with that leg. You fell from a seven foot drop.” He said pointing at the ledge.
“It’s a hill...” I told him standing. A shot of pain came through my leg, I hissed, “Shit.” I sat back down and felt around the ankle. “It’s not broken…” I felt the sprain in the ankle, “…just a sprain…” I got back up. “Could been worse.” I said shrugging my shoulders.
“You’re…ah…going to have to come with us…” the alpha told me.
“Why? Can’t I just…”
“It’s just part of procedure you’re rouge.”
I winched at this, “Yea I guess so.” He offered his hand.
“No,” I told him walking with a limp. “I’m used to this.”
The rest of the way we didn’t talk much.
“So what was your pack like?” the Third-in-Command asked, giving me a sad smile.
“Abusive. You know if they put the time that they used to torture me in to studying more than half would be passing 10th grade.”
“What pack are you from?” the beta asked.
“Red Moon packs…What’s this pack?” I asked.
“The Crystal Gold pack.”
I nodded my head, “Never heard of it.”
He whipped his head at me, “NEVER HEARD OF IT!”
“My pack didn’t allow me to join in with other werewolf business and that include in other packs…” I told him keeping my eyes to the ground.
“Well you should know that were the number one pack in America, strongest.”
“Well we’re here.” T.I.C. said.
“Hey you know…I never got your guys’ names.” I asked.
“Well, I’m Nicky but everyone else calls me Nick. My beta…” he waved his hand, “is Johnny.” Then you got my Third in Commands, Shane and Zack…Their brothers.” I nodded my head.
The pack house was huge. Twice no four times the size of my old pack. It exactly looked like someone pulled out a Martha Stewart magazine, ate it then threw it up and that’s what you had.
“Now let’s get you to the Pack Doctor.”
