Chapter 0371—Vitality Drain
Zealler no longer had the leisure to put on his disguise. He could hardly believe that several humans managed to cripple his Metal Hide and induce force rupture.
Aren’t humans known to be frail weaklings? Zealler thought while glaring at the masked man’s spear. It’s that spear! It’s so sharp that it shattered my fist!
Drako Yau and his companions were oblivious to Zealler’s thoughts and simply continued their assault. Greenstone calmly swung his arms in quick succession, tossing needles to provide buffs. Power Needle increased attack while Steel Bulwark Needle increased defence. As herbalists cast spells using needles, the needles served both as a consumable and a skill cooldown, which placed high technical requirements on the caster. The upside was that needles came with no side effects, unlike berserkers’ Blood Ritual skills, which often came with huge drawbacks once the skills wore off.
Windstrider never ceased firing ever since the battle began. Like a pesky mosquito, he kept stinging at Zealler with his bullets. He pointed his guns into the sky and fired a quick burst, drawing a line of silver that dispersed into smoke moments later—Rain of Bullets.
Zealler, now without its Metal Hide, growled in pain. As he tried to evade, he realised dark swamps surrounded him and slowed him down. Although Idyllic Poet went the extreme route of learning only fire-elemental skills, she still had skills from her days as a mage. Toxic Swamp was a useful control skill, especially when she couldn’t use her favourite fire skills, though it pained her to be idling around like this.
While Idyllic Poet slowed Zealler down, a flash struck him from afar. It was Danting using Instant Thunder!
I’m going to die here? Zealler felt regret welling up in his head. I would’ve been unscathed if I had followed the Dominator’s orders and used a phantom. But… To avenge my brothers… Yes! Revenge! Even if I die, you’ll all die with me!
Zealler’s green eyes turned blood red. Two streaks of blood flowed from his eyes as if they were the final strokes on a living canvas, the final embellishment in memory of his life. He howled once more—not as a beastman royal acting as a dungeon boss, but as a feral beast.
Zealler was known for his intellectual mutation, but he had kept a secret from his brothers all this time. He had another innate skill, Vitality Drain. It consumed his life force for a final burst of strength. This was his ultimate trump card; once activated, it wouldn’t end until it depleted his vitality, which spelt death for him. He never thought he had to use it for a few mere humans.
I was saving this for Phantasma Violet… But if I don’t use it now, I’ll never get to use it!
Zealler’s tears of blood crept all over his body, almost like an invisible hand was drawing on him. Soon, a circuit took form. He turned crimson once the blood-red circuit was complete.
“Dan, fall back!” Drako Yau shouted anxiously.
Zealler grinned at Danting who was bolting towards him. He swung his claws, but they struck nothing once again. His bloodshot eyes landed on the man who had been pestering him from the beginning.
Windstrider had stood up to the occasion. While Danting was flying at Zealler using Instant Thunder, he fired a Repelling Shot and knocked him away from Zealler’s slash.
“Die!” Zealler smashed his fist into the ground in Windstrider’s direction. The ground shook fiercely, and chunks of earth protruded as the shockwave rippled underground.
As a ranger, Windstrider had the fastest movement speed among the four basic classes. He dashed like the wind and stepped on the protruding rocks, climbing up the makeshift flight of stairs with great agility.
However, he suddenly widened his eyes. The rock beneath him trembled. A split second later, it broke into smithereens before a crimson claw stuck out. Its five sharp claws dug deep into his armour, and he turned into a flash of white and disappeared almost instantly.
“Damn you, Dominator!” Zealler howled at the sky.
Drako Yau felt his heart skip a beat as he thought, Something’s wrong for sure! It’s a sentient being, just like the fire crystal master and John! But why is it so hostile towards us?
The fire crystal master and John were hostile towards him as well, but they never gave off such intense killing intent. Zealler, however, was clearly trying to kill him.

After killing Windstrider, Zealler’s focus returned to the masked man. He swung his razor-sharp claws once again.
Drako Yau grunted. Sparks of flame and ice seeped from the gaps in his armour while his hair wavered in the flames that could burn everything, as though his hair was composed of fire itself. Up against such a powerful enemy, he could only go all out and activate Boiling Form.
Drako Yau suddenly accelerated and dodged his claws. Zealler was taken aback by the abrupt change in speed, while Drako Yau went along with the momentum and leapt into the air, spinning like a tornado—Blizzard! Zealler could barely put his arms above his head in defence. As the Cryoflame spear clashed against his claws, metallic screeches resounded throughout the area.
A layer of frost formed on Zealler’s fingers, but he paid it no heed and roared, “Die!”
A flash of crimson radiated off Zealler, dissipating the frost on him; it even nullified Drako Yau’s passive skill, Icefrost! Widening his arms, Zealler slashed his claws in a diagonal cross and drew a bloody cross in the air.
Drako Yau had just ended his skill and could only place his spear before his body. The clash smashed his purlicues and shoulders, and the resulting force hammered him into the ground. Having the advantage, Zealler pressed on and stabbed his vicious claws at the masked man embedded in the ground with the intent to kill.
“Boss!” The only thing on Idyllic Poet’s mind was to save Drako Yau. She rushed forwards with her staff raised overhead. An invisible wave fanned out from her staff, then sucked everything towards her. Volcanic Eruption—the skill which sucked in everything around the caster before erupting!
Zealler was pulled in slightly by Volcanic Eruption, and his stab missed the mark, albeit just barely. His claws scraped Drako Yau and punctured almost a foot deep into the ground.
“Annoying!” Zealler snarled and turned around with a swing of his claws. Idyllic Poet instantly became a flash of white and joined Windstrider among the list of casualties.
“Greenstone! Brute Needle!” Drako Yau shouted as he broke free from the ground.
Greenstone immediately threw an earthy needle, which landed precisely on Drako Yau’s back. An earth-brown aura shrouded him right away.
Brute Force was the most powerful skill among the Herbalist skill roster that granted immunity against all control effects and negative ailments. As Zealler’s strength was too much for Drako Yau to handle even with Boiling Form, he could only rely on Brute Force’s effects to nullify the explosive knockback from their clash of blows.
