Chapter 0380—The Perfect Counter165Please respect copyright.PENANAUp08elTmsQ
Drako Yau remained unbothered by the words. This was all within his expectations.
“Since I’m here already, I won’t be leaving empty-handed.”
“Oh? Are you making me stay now?” The man grinned lightly, his calm look showing no signs of feeling coerced. He knew no one could hold him back as long as he wished to leave.
“That’s pointless. You won’t teleport to the Demon Capital unless you join the team willingly. Let’s make a wager,” said Drako Yau.
“A wager? Interesting. Pray tell.”
“A duel. The loser must comply with one demand from the victor.”
“Ha, are we fighting again? That would only end in a draw once more.” The man fluttered the sleeves of his magnificent robe decorated with flowery patterns, almost as if a floral sea had materialised before their eyes.
As elegant as flowers, he was the flowery gentleman, Hibiscus.
“No, not me.” Drako Yau shook his head and then stepped aside. “It’s him.”
Hibiscus narrowed his eyes, glaring past Drako Yau at Greenstone.
“Greenstone, the main support of the Dragon Covenant, profession unknown. Though his profession and the encounter inheritance he received are mysteries, a healer is a healer at the end of the day. Mask, aren’t you belittling me?” Hibiscus’ voice had a cold edge with a clear note of anger.
Drako Yau shook his head in response. “It’s precisely because I hold you in high regard that I chose Greenstone to fight you. I will ask again: do you dare wager?”
“Do I dare?” Hibiscus smiled, but his smile was tinged with fury. “Alliance Master Mask, I hope you’re prepared to accept the consequences of the wager—even if it means deleting your account and vanishing from the game forever.”
“Mhm,” Drako Yau responded nonchalantly, much to Hibiscus’ irritation. “Greenstone, go all out.”
Greenstone merely glanced at Drako Yau without a word. He stepped forward, ready to confront Hibiscus.
Hibiscus had already wiped the smile off his face, his palm resting on his chest. His middle finger and thumb met, then flicked lightly.
Flower Plucking Finger!
The invisible force of the strike, swift enough to break the wind, flew straight at Greenstone, but he dodged the attack with nimble steps despite his buff build. Hibiscus was unsurprised, having heard of Greenstone’s exceptional footwork. Rather, it’d be surprising if he could defeat Greenstone with a single attack.
Hibiscus had the hidden profession, Chi Master. The profession lacked attack skills, its skillset mostly comprising of support and buff skills. But it was this profession that made him so powerful after mastering Flower Plucking Finger. Under the effects of his skills, he could fire off Flower Plucking Finger with very short cooldowns and minimal mana consumption.
Hibiscus was a one-trick pony, but also a master of that one move. For him, Flower Plucking Finger was like an enhanced version of Idyllic Poet’s Fireball, her primary attack skill.
Each strike of Flower Plucking Finger had high damage output and exceptional travel speed, allowing him to dominate the battlefield with just this single move.
What caught him off guard was Greenstone’s exquisite footwork. The muscular figure danced like a butterfly, the stark contrast much like a burly man wielding a colossal axe yet moving with the grace of a sewing needle. It was nearly nauseating to look at. Greenstone easily dodged several Flower Plucking Fingers then lunged forward.
Hibiscus sharpened his gaze, realising he had underestimated Greenstone’s agility. He rapidly retreated while flicking his hands lightly, instantly arranging his chi into a lotus that boomed towards Greenstone. This was no longer just a fingertip-sized chi!
Just as Drako Yau imbued his Cryoflame style into skills to amplify their power, so did Hibiscus. This was not only a display of his internal powers, but also control over his skills.
An invisible lotus quietly bloomed before Hibiscus. This lotus was composed of thirty-six streaks of Flower Plucking Finger, all weaved simultaneously with his two fingers.
Noticing the massive lotus, Greenstone calmly halted his steps and slowly pushed out his palms. Two auras of black and white danced before him, following the swaying of his hands.
Tai Chi.
Numerous muffles ensued. The lotus, as though trapped within a quagmire, kept dissipating. Greenstone waved his palms slowly like a leisurely old man exercising in the morning, yet such a dense barrage of attacks couldn’t even reach the hem of his clothes.
Hibiscus was astonished as he leapt into the air—he sensed an immense danger from Greenstone!
After Greenstone deflected the last chi projectile, he looked upwards at Hibiscus, who was standing atop a flower, and uttered the words, “Come down.”
He stretched out his hand with an aura circulating his palm as if he was controlling an invisible force. The flowers beneath Hibiscus’ feet gradually turned translucent.
“What?!” Hibiscus was shocked by the occurrence he had never encountered before.
All this time, Flower Plucking Finger was his sure-kill attack, and Flowery Steps was the skill he relied on for survival. However, Greenstone had completely countered him!
The flowers beneath Hibiscus' feet vanished, his figure plummeting from the air. Greenstone had already pounced forward in a seemingly slow charge; it only took a moment for him to reach the descending gentleman and thrust a palm strike.
Hibiscus managed to parry in disarray. Although he survived the strike, he found himself surrounded by a layer of darkness.
Hibiscus was clearly not resigned to his demise, for he shot out two bursts of chi at extremely close range like throwing two daggers.
Whoosh.
Like a gust of wind, Greenstone smoothly crossed his arms across his body and swatted away the two bursts of chi shot from close quarters. He immediately transitioned into offence, placing two incredibly fast slaps on Hibiscus’ body.
Puk. Puk.
The dark aura congealed into a yin-yang symbol above Hibiscus, the whirls of black and white intertwining with discipline.
Greenstone pressed on, his movements leisurely yet swift. He pushed his palms together towards Hibiscus chest, and the yin-yang symbol shattered.
A streak of green light shot out from Greenstone’s palms. The instant Hibiscus was hit, he was sent flying while spewing blood as though a maglev train had rammed into him. The streak of green light struck him immediately after, restoring his Health and dragging him back right before death’s door. He had barely survived the encounter.
This was a proper battle out in the wilderness, meaning they didn’t have the death protection they’d normally have with sparring mode enabled. Had it not been for that timely recovery skill, Greenstone’s strike would have killed Hibiscus.
“Mask! You dare play tricks on me?”
Hibiscus nearly choked from his rage. He’d be an idiot if he couldn’t tell that Greenstone was the perfect counter for him at this point. His Flower Plucking Finger was never going to land a killing blow given Greenstone’s palm techniques and footwork, while his supposedly invincible Flowery Steps had been stripped from him by Greenstone using unknown methods!
This was a matter of styles countering each other, just as water countered fire and fire countered wood.
Drako Yau was seemingly confused as he told Hibiscus, “I'm obviously going to pick someone who can counter you. I wouldn’t have chosen Greenstone otherwise. Weren’t you quite upset about fighting Greenstone? Why are you blaming me now?”
Nonsense! Hibiscus could feel his frustration building up. Anyone challenged to a duel by a cleric would surely see it as an insult! Who knew Greenstone had such insane skills? There’s hardly clerics like this out there!
Drako Yau was spot on in letting Greenstone fight Hibiscus, naturally because Greenstone countered him.
Although Flower Plucking Finger was terrifying, it was not impossible to counter. What troubled Drako Yau the most was Hibiscus’ ability to fly instead.
Much to his favour, among Greenstone’s Herbalist skills was an aerial blockade move called Volatile Medicine—all enemies within a three-hundred-meter radius from the caster would be barred from the skies!165Please respect copyright.PENANA6NtEKkxHBP
