"To going against the grain, too going insane!" James yells.
"To hating dear old mum and dad!" Sirius adds.
"To being an us for once, not a them!" Peter yells
"To causing a commotion!" Remus almost screams.
"To family!" Lily adds.
"To more than friends." I yell as I hold Remus' hand underneath the table. I look down at the Chinese takeout that is set in front of me.
"A meal for champions." Peter says as he rolls his eyes.
"Well maybe next time you could use your culinary skills. Thats why you're here." James says and Peter nudges him with a smile. After dinner everyone begins to party. I am pulled away but Lily.
"Hey whats up?" I ask as she pulls me away.
"Have you noticed anything off about Remus?" She asks and I nod my head.
"I have, he just seems so tired and, out of breath. I've tried to get him to check it out but he wont go." I say and Lily nods.
"He needs to get checked out." Lily says. Then there is a crash in the living room.
"Keep it quiet in there!" I yell and then there is a scream. Lily and I run over and see Remus face down on the floor.
"Remus!" Lily and I both scream.
"Call 911, now!" I yell to Peter who nods and takes out his phone.
"Remus," James mutters.
"Is he breathing?" Sirius asks.
"He is but he's wheezing." I say.
"Paramedics are on their way." Peter says as he walks back in.
"What do you think is wrong?" Lily asks as she flips Remus over.
"I don't know." I say.
"(Y/N) you ride in the ambulance, we'll meet you at the hospital." James says looking at the frozen Remus. Not much time passes before the paramedics are here and taking Remus. As they lift up his almost lifeless body I begin to cry. I get in the back of the ambulance and begin to drive off.
"What happened?" One of the paramedics asks me and I try to speak but nothing comes out.
"He just collapsed." I say and the paramedic nods.
"Any history of chronic respiratory problems?" The female paramedic asks.
"Nothing that I know of." I say and they nod. Then the car goes silent besides the heart monitor. They hear his chest and I watch it rise and fall barely.
"There seems to be blockage." She says and I shake.
"What do you mean?" I ask getting shoved away.
"Please move sir." The paramedic says.
"What the hell is wrong with him!" I yell and the car goes silent again.
"Sir there seems to be something in his lung. We need to check it out once we get to the hospital, which we'll be there soon. For now please sit down and remain calm." She says and I nod. I sit down and stay silent. As we get to the hospital they bring Remus out of the ambulance and rush him into the building. I linger out for a second wrapped in a blanket that they had given me. I walk into the parking lot and then into the building. Waddling in shock.
How could this have happened.
I wait in the lobby for about ten minutes before I see Lily, James, Peter and Sirius walk in.
"Hey (Y/N) do they know what's wrong?" Peter asks as he sits down next to me.
"No, just that there is blockage in his chest, in his lung." I say as I stare at the floor.
"Then they can get the blockage out." Sirius says.
"And then everything will be fine." James adds.
"Not necessarily, if what ever it is has spread then who know what will happen." Lily says and I shiver.
"Like what?" Ben asks.
"Cancer." I mumble and we all fall silent.
"But we would have noticed something like that." Sirius says with a bit of a laugh at the end.
"Not necessarily, again sometimes it springs on with little warning. Plus both (Y/N) and I both noticed Remus being out of breath and tired recently, for maybe a month for me." Lily says and I nod.
"So what you're saying is we know nothing." Peter says.
"Basically, but there is no point in speculating. If we did then we would trouble ourselves horribly." I say as I stand up.
"Where are you going?" Sirius asks me as I begin to walk away.
"Getting a snack, want to come?" I ask and he nods his head. He follows me closely behind. We get to the vending machine and hear infamous words.
"Code blue, I repeat code blue." We hear and freeze.
"It's not Moony is it?" Sirius asks and I shake my head. Somehow I knew it wasn't.
"No, I don't know how but I know it's not." I say.
"I feel sorry for the family then." Sirius says and I nod my head.
"I wish them well with their lives." I say and he nods.
"What are you going to get?" Sirius asks as I look at the vending machine.
"Just some pretzels." I say and he nods his head.
"I think i'm going to get the works, everything." Sirius says as he grabs his card and a few minutes later he has an armful of snacks. We walk back to the group and pass out a few snacks. We wait for a few more hours before the doctor walks up to us.
"We have stabilized him and are working on diagnosing him now." The doctor says.
"Thank you doctor." Lily says.
"I hate all this waiting." James says.
"Me too." Peter says crossing his arms. We wait another hour and then I walk over to the vending machine for another drink. When there I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see it is the doctor.
"Are you (Y/N)?" He asks.
"Yes," I say confused.
"Mr Lupin was asking for you and I wanted to let you know, we diagnosed him." The doctor says.
"He was asking for me?" I ask.
"He was mumbling your name in his sleep." The doctor says.
"So what is the diagnoses?" I ask leaning against the vending machine. He tells me and I gasp. My heart feels shattered and I collapse to the floor. I watch the world begin to spin and I try to gasp for air. I feel something warm hold me and look to see fire like hair. I knew it was Lily. I hear a mumble of voices.
