Sex, drugs, brand-new cars,

They stomp around with their heads held high,

But the only new thing I’m getting is scars.

They raise their hands to the sky,

Getting higher than the stars.

They skip classes,

Compete to have the highest body count,

Who can break the most hearts in a week?

I never understood how they could be so cruel.

They only prey on the weak.

They prowl in crowds,

Scared to be alone.

But listen to me,

Gather around and open your eyes.

Can’t you see what you’re doing is killing me?

You say it’s just a joke,

When you tell me to go and choke,

But it’s not.

I won’t drink your poisoned words any longer,

I will not sit and slouch.

You will not pin me down,

You have your weapons, but I have my pen.

I will stab my words through your heart,

And watch as you fall apart.

My words are greater than your fists,

Bruises fade, but words are tattooed on your heart.

Beat me black and blue,

Lock me in lockers and humiliate me,

But I won’t stop.

You will listen to me.

Heed my every word,

And know that I will not be forced to kneel before you again.

I’ll stand till the bitter end.
