Following the betrayal of her uncle Amunak, Alea, Sorian, and Cillian find themselves in the depths of a winding slot canyon as a gargantuan thunderstorm approaches. The walls press in on both sides, and they will have to find a way out of their shackles and  through the labyrinthine tunnel network before the rushing waters sweep them into the deep earth.

This is a short piece of a scene that takes place in the middle of my planned novel. As such, I don't expect you to know the characters or events that led up to this, nor do I explain them. But it is easy to follow just the scene.
