"No man goes into battle with a whole heart."
"Only a beast would kill without later guilt."
Aezrov the Rightful stood, watching his nervous soldiers from atop the boulder. He knew they had a reason to fight this battle, but they had fear of death and no inspiration. He knew they would be willing to die for their families, but they wouldn't die without assurance that their death would be an aid to the Reynolytes. They would have to know if this battle would allow their descendants to survive the cold winters of the Age of Ice.
Aezrov stood, his Blade of the Grey in his hand, and spoke to his fellow Reynolytes. "Brothers, sisters," he said, "Today, we gather at the entrance of Paningard to regain what we lost. I know, we know, that the Sielons are barbaric bastards that take our home from us every moment they can. They slaughter our families and devour their bodies. They are cannibalistic, uncivilized, traitorous murderers that rape our children and kill our brothers. Today, though, we will show them we are not animals like themselves, but humans! We will not kill their women and children, as they had six years ago in the Invasion of Paningard. No, we will kill their soldiers, and let all others live. Brothers and sisters in arms, we will fight with clean hands, and emerge only with tainted blood on our swords.
"But many of you wish not to fight. I am welcoming any soldiers to leave now, and not turn back. Leave to the warm caves and holes that barbarians live in. You have felt the fear of death, but now do you want your loved ones to feel its shadow, too? Do you want your loved ones slaughter like cattle by the Wild Men and Sielons? Nay? Then, my friends, fight for freedom, honor, glory, home, and warmth. Fight this battle, so that your children may never have to fight any battles.
"Long have the Sielons terrorized us, brothers and sisters. They were once our family, following Aez the Sightless into Dou Range. But, once they and we lose that bridge of unity, they are the ones to act first, massacring many under the influence of Prei of Pangrand. But we, the Reynolytes, will not be so barbaric. We will conquer, and allow freedom for all, even those who terrorized us and even those who worship the Infernal. We should fight in this battle as civilized men and women. We will fight for those who cannot fight. Yes, the battle will begin, and we will stand as one."
He raised his sword in the air. "My friends, my family, listen closely. We will endure hardships, we will feel regret, we will be betrayed, we will freeze in winters, but by Sucellus, we will not take defeat! We will give our respect, but by the gods we will not give our sword! We will fight for the fallen before this battle, during this battle, and after this battle! We will fight every battle, and we will emerge victorious every battle!"
Many of the once-nervous soldiers were cheering, taming their fear. They had their inspiration now, and they were willing to sacrifice themselves for the whole of the Reynolytes. They would follow Aezrov, even if it meant their deaths.
Aezrov turned around, yelled his battlecry, and charged. The Sielon gateguards who heard Aezrov's speech fled down the staircase and were attempting to close shut the gate to the underground city of Paningard. However, Aezrov gained the trust of ten Sidar rangers, who shot their ghosts arrows that tore apart the Sielons' flesh and ignored any Reynolytes who were in the arrows' paths.
Once the Reynolytes made it to the end of the large staircase and into the city streets, all the Sielon women and children were already in buildings, and the militia and hunters were waiting for the Reynolytes. Sadly for the Sielons, the Reynolytes had better formation and unwavering morale, and the Sielon militia and hunters were quickly disposed of. Although, whatever humanity the five hundred Reynolytes had vanished when they saw their old, beloved temple. It was desecrated by the Sielons, to a disturbing length.1197Please respect copyright.PENANAxhbwd286iK
Aezrov was the first to see the temple, and he found out what happened to the Reynolytes who were kidnapped during the last blizzard season. Reynolyte soldiers' corpses littered the base of the entryway stairs. Inside, Reynolyte children's heads were stuck on pikes, and Reynolyte women's defiled bodies were strewn across different statues. There was a pool of blood in the temple. The brave-hearted Reynolyte soldiers were struck in different ways. Women fell to the ground and wept, men threw curses into the gods' ears, young soldiers vomited bile onto their feet. Aezrov just stood. He couldn't think why anybody would do this. His first thought was that justice must be done, in any way possible.1197Please respect copyright.PENANA4unpOODsgX
"My family," he began, "My soul-wrenched, broken-hearted family... we must avenge those who were desecrated here! We must murder the Sielon defilers! Kill them! Kill them all!"
The Sidar rangers decided to not be involved, and disappeared in their ghostly forms. The Reynolyte soldiers ran in a rage to any and all Sielons in the city. Reynolyte men ripped apart the Sielon soldiers into literal pieces, Reynolyte women tore into the flesh of the Sielon women, and the young Reynolyte men and women ripped children out of their screaming mothers' arms and raped and beheaded the children. The Reynolytes wished to be human while fighting this battle, but they showed that they are just as evil as the Sielons.
The streams of blood would literally flow through Paningard for ages to come, and eventually when the goddess of Peace would grant her Peace unto Erebus, she would grant the descendants of the Sielons revenge against the Reynolyte descendants. However, for two factions that share the same ancestors, the Sidalosians, they know each other too well to be destroyed by the other.
Although, both factions were animals at heart. They would be so for the rest of eternity.
