I HATE THE MIDDLE AGES!
Chapter 10: The Battle of Helm's Abyss
(The two towers)
Hermione climbed up to the tower of the fortress gateway, from there she had a total view of the gateway and the side wall, the place was so high that she would be sure not to receive any arrow, while on the contrary the enemy would fall under her spells.
A torrential rain began to fall and Hermione began to realize her plan.
“Sonorus," she said, pointing her throat with her wand.
“I AM HERMIONE JEAN GRANGER, WITCH OF HOWARTS AND GRYFFINDOR'S HOUSE, LEAVE OR DIE!”
“¡MORSMORDRE!” she cried and conjured up the tenebrous mark of Voldemort, hoping it would be intimidating to draw back the orcs.
"Quietus, Pericullum.” Conjured and threw dozens of red sparks into the sky
The orcs stopped in awe and fear, but the lords of the lash whipped their troops with painful lashes and the horde began to move forward.
Hermione performed several non-lethal spells, the orcs moved their feet in an uncontrolled way, vomited, were stiff, confused and so on, but the orcs killed the enchanted ones.
"Kill their own comrades!" Hermione thought and closing her eyes pointed her wand at one side of the entrance.
“Bombarda maxima.” She shouted, and huge rocks falling off the side wall fell on the orcs, some panicked and tried to flee, but the lords of the lash threw their whips and began beheading anyone who tried to flee the battle.
The orc horde hastened its steps to leave the narrow entrance and not be crushed by the avalanche caused by the witch.
Hermione closed her eyes and prepared to cause as many casualties as she could.
“Bombarda máxima, bombarda máxima... Bombarda maxima,” conjured over and over again. The spell effect was lethal, with the same power of a cannon, eliminating several orcs at the same time.
On the side wall, Aragorn ordered the archers to shot, which gave account of several enemies. The orc crossbowmen were trying to kill the enemy, but Hermione's spells worked perfectly and no one was killed. More than a battle it was a carnage with the orcs as the only casualties. Soon the orcs tried to climb the wall by stairs.
“Bombarda máxima, Reducto.” Hermione said again and again, and no orcs could climb the wall.
A group of orcs tried to climb up the elevated path that led to the gate, they were covered by shields both above and on the sides, Hermione was reminded of the "tortoise" formation of the Roman army.
“Aqua Eructo, Glacius, Gliseo.” Conjured and knocked down the orcs with a powerful stream of water, at the same time that the floor froze and the whole way became a slide.
"Well, that place is already impenetrable," Hermione said.
The orcs pointed giant crossbows at the fortress and tried to raise giant stairs to storm the tower, but Hermione's advantageous position allowed her to spot these and destroy them.
Hidden from sight of Hermione some orcs introduced to the drainage of the wall enormous bombs full of gunpowder, however, the orc in charge of lighting the gunpowder was very visible and Hermione killed him as soon as she saw it.
“What was he trying to do when he went down the drain?" Hermione said.
"Accio Artefacto.” Conjured up and the bombs went where Hermione, the girl took a quick look and was horrified.
"Expulso," she shouted against each of the bombs and they fell on the orcs.
“Bombarda Máxima.” She conjured up the fallen bombs and they exploded killing many enemies.
It was too much for the orcs and these attacking their foremen began the escape.
Both men and elves cheered loudly, Hermione did not understand what they said as she fell unconscious due to the effort.
.
.
Hermione awoke the next morning, woke up in a huge makeshift bed covered with fine furs, came out of the room and reached a corner where she transformed the skin into a dress (crashing pink), found a woman and asked her to give her more suitable clothes.
Hermione went out to the fortress and met her friends who ran quickly to hug her.
“Hermione is well now," said Gimli, who held her by the waist and made her turn.
“Hermione, what a pleasure, you had us worried," said Legolas hugging her, something that surprised the girl because the elves were very serius.
“I see you have finally awakened," said the king as she approached the girl.
Hermione bowed to him.
“I'm sorry I passed out, I hope nothing went wrong in my absence.” The nervous girl excused herself now from noticing that she didn't know if the orcs had returned.
“The orcs did not return and this morning Eomer and her riders and Gandalf arrived at the fortress Lady Hermione.
“Lady? Forgive my lord, but it is not necessary to tell me so, I do not possess any noble title.”
“Really? That can be remedied, kneel," the monarch ordered.
Hermione looked at Aragorn and he nodded his head, just as she knelt, and the king drew his sword and placed it on Hermione's two shoulders as he said chivalrous formulas.
“Arise Lady Hermione, defender of Helm's abyss and protector of the kingdom of Rohan," the monarch declared solemnly.
“Hurray for Lady Hermione!” the men shouted.
In the end, all those present cheered for Hermione as the horns of Helm's abyss resounded miles away.
Hermione did not know what to think, only once in her first year at Hogwarts cheered her, but that could not compare to the thunderous cheers she was given at that time, men, women and children, including soldiers and horsemen, as well as the king and Gandalf himself.
“You did very well, Hermione," said Gandalf.
“Thank you very much Gandalf, but I only did what you asked.”
“In the end it was not necessary the intervention of the riders of Eomer, but anyway he is happy that his king has returned to take control of her kingdom.
“Now where shall we go, Gandalf?”
“We will go back to the castle of the King, there we will decide what to do, but first we will go to see how Merry and Pipin are.”
“Gandalf, how do you think Frodo and Sam will be?”
“Let's hope that well, they have their own path to travel, just like us. The battle for Helm's abyss is over, and the battle for Middle Earth will soon begin. Hermione, this time I'm afraid you won't be able to save everyone," said the magician with a face furrowed by worry. The witch was surprised to see the face of Gandalf who was so tired and aged.
“I know Gandalf, I only have the same things left for all of us: to do the best we can in this war and pray for our friends to arrive safely on the Doom Mountain.
