I took a deep breath, flicked my hands, to stop it from shaking and crossed over the police tape. It should be easy I told myself. I mean.........the last time I entered the forest, I wasn't afraid? Except for this time, it's dark......there is blood.....and it's cold.
I walked forward, and hugged myself against my body to keep warm. The forest was quiet, the only thing that could be heard was the crunching of the leaves, as they smashed into my foot.
I felt like a fool........what did I think I was going to accomplish out here? Dying? I guess I was hoping, Diablo would figure out I'm here and we can talk? Besides, he did say to come back so it's not like I'm completely unwelcome here.......right?
I still felt uneasy because it was too quiet for comfort. I mean does nothing live here? No owls, bugs or anything. I passed by tree by tree feeling as if I was trapped in the forest yet again. The wind started to pick up and I shivered clenching my body tight, as my teeth chattered.
The wind felt and sounded strange as if it was whispering something in my ear. I thought I heard it say something but I know my brain is probably drumming up scenarios because I'm afraid. The wind however grew louder in my ear, and the sounds the wind was making sounded more articulate.
"Fle......" Is what I heard...........
Please tell me I'm just imagine things. I kept walking pretending. I didn't hear anything until I heard the wind scream "Fles......"
I felt a tickle on my shoulder and whipped my head back with hast. Nothing was there. I tried to take a deep breath and take one step forward. When I attempted I heard something from above.
"Back to die huh?" I shot my head up and saw the same girl. Her long red locks and immaculate blue eyes were intense enough to see in the dark. She kicked her legs back and forth high up on the tree branch, like a child. She flashed me a devious grin.
She was unfortunately joined by her rabid dog wolf that nearly killed me, it was snarling at me on ground level, so that didn't help my situation. To make matters worse beside, the wolf was a feline type creature . Was it a mountain lion? A jaguar? A leopard? Who even knows?
"Why have you come back here?" The girl demanded. I didn't really think it was any of her business why I was there. My goal was to get to Diablo first.
"Well I can ask you the same thing, why are you here?" I said alerting her that I wasn't here for her or her weird little pets.
"I didn't think humans were this stupid. If you knew who I am, you would cower in fear.
"I am Dentro, the forest maiden. I am in charge of keeping the demons out of HavenBelle. So it is you who does not belong here".
I was speechless. Is this the story of the girl Officer Hicks was telling me about, the dolofonies?
"Well I have come to talk to Diablo, and I will be on my....." She interrupted me. "Any questions you, have you answer to me, this is my forest not yours"
I muttered okay lowly under my breath and started my questions. "There were two search teams that came to this forest. They have not come back, what happened to them?" She shrugged her shoulders and checked her fingernails.
"Fed them to the demons, their fault for trespassing" I scrunched my face up. The girl must be insane. "What happened to Araya Young?" I demanded.
She answered again without hesitation. "I killed her, simple as that"
When she said this hot tears started to well up in my eyes out of frustration. "Is this a joke to you?" I rose my voice at her.
She rolled her eyes at me, then replied. "It seems your not getting it girl". She snapped her fingers, up on the tree top. I instantly heard snarling coming from the forest and heavy foot steps, thump, thump, thump. Something enormous was coming, I could feel it.
I saw a large black muzzle pull out of the forest, with no eyes and a mouth that split into three. Each rows of mouth was covered in shark like teeth dripping with saliva and dried blood.
I couldn't make it's entire body, because it was dark, but I'm fully convinced now, no doubt in my mind demons exist. Announcing her presence once more she stated. "It's my job as the forest maiden to keep demons in and humans out. I allowed you to live last time, but I can't let you go".
"The information you have learned is now useless," Dentro said mocking me.
I'm sure now this is exactly how Araya died.......I thought.
