My head was pounding. I heard the faint beeping, of the patient monitor..........I must have been at a hospital.
I was so exhausted that I tried to get some more rest, by tossing my head back, and closing my eyes. That only lasted a few seconds because I heard, a random voice calling me that I didn't recognize
"She's come through Mrs. Chasseur"
I heard a blurry thank goodness and felt a warm embrace around my body. The scent was such a strong lavender smell, it must have been my mother.
The scent, pulled me out of my sleep, and I could finally make out what was in front of me. A large overweight police officer, sat on a rolling chair with a pen and a notepad, clearing his large throat.
"Your father, couldn't be here with you today unfortunately because he is at work. So I volunteered, to stay, with you, so your mother isn't all by herself" He said giving me a faint smile.
Yeah right......his only here for one thing, and that is to ask what had happened, my father working a late shift has nothing to do with it.
"My name is officer, DeMarcus Hicks, it's nice to meet you Chloe. I hear you, were playing in the playground, and you got lost in the forest. Mind telling me the events that lead up to you being lost?"
I briefly, told him that I wanted to explore the forest. I ended up getting lost and there is nothing to it.
There is no way, I am mentioning, anything about demons or devils or the like. Or the weird things that happened in the forest, which I suspect they is all real.
If he alludes to the possibility of demons, I might try to pitch the idea.
Although HavenBelle is the home of "demons" and some folks believe, in them. Law enforcement, are the last, people in HavenBelle, that tolerate these stories.
Paris's mother mentioned law enforcement, don't do their jobs, because they let the demon stories get in the way of their investigations. However the truth is they loathe, these myths, because it stops them, from getting to the "truth"
For example if townsfolks, says they were attacked by demons, it makes their jobs harder. Who is this "demon", what weapon did they use? Did you catch the description of the person. It makes their job much harder..........
Officer Hicks, continued on with his questions. "Okay, do you recall running into anybody in the forest?"
Do the officers suspect, there is something in the forest as well?
"Well.........there was this girl, she had red hair..... around my age.......she had a dog. Her dog attacked me.....she seemed to have been unbothered that she was in the forest."
I lifted up my battered hand, which was wrapped in gauze. I was a bit reluctant to tell him about the boy, because he was odd. I do have to say something anyways, he had been stuck in that forest for some time.
"There was also a young boy.......around my age as well........he had seemed to have been lost for some time, now and he is the one that brought me back. You have to do something about this."
The only concerning thing is, the girl that Paris's mother mentioned, was brought from the forest and had died.
Officer, Hicks scribbled away on his notepad, before coming to a brief halt, and looking up at me, and chuckling to himself.
"You know the crazy townsfolk say, that they have seen a little red-haired girl just like you. They call her "Dolofonies".
"A princess, who gave up her heart to keep the townsfolk safe from the demons. The demons can't leave HavenBelle forest because of her"
"They say if she takes her heart back.......the demons can walk amongst us again"
Why does that ring a bell? I mean, she seemed completely "heartless" and behaved as if, she was in no danger at all. Could this rumor be true? Is that girl, a heartless princess?
"I believe those rumors might have some truth to it.........." I said with zero confidence in my voice.
He shook his head and kept writing on his notepad. "Sure you do.......now this "missing boy", did you happen to catch his name?
"Diablo......his name is Diablo"
Officer Hicks, eyes shot up from his notepad and he gave me a very stern look, as if I just committed a crime.
"A young girl named Araya Young, got lost in the forest, the first time. When we interrogated her, she recalled, a boy named Diablo, demanded he play with her. Does this scenario sound familiar to you?"
I nodded my head, feeling uncomfortable with his story.
"Do you know what the name Diablo even means?"
I shook my head, not sure if I was just young or naive, but I don't know.
"That name translates to "Devil". Which is quite the name for a young child to call himself"
He kept writing on his notepad and sighed before continuing his story.
"Anyways, he asked her to play with him again. She did, but when she came back, she was pronounced dead........I can't give you gruesome details, because, her body was in such bad condition."
"What we suspect is, the boy is using, the HavenBelle rumors, to lure, young girls who get lost in the forest. We think he then takes advantage of them and murders them"
"We also believe that the "girl" is in on it as well.
He continues. "She makes the victims believe they're "Demons" in the forest, and they can't leave. This causes them to rely on the boy to return home "safely"
"Those two are fugitives," Hicks said, with a serious final tone.
