I had to take care of my neighbors' 12 year old dog for a few days, and honestly, it was sad. She could barely walk without panting and stopping every few steps, and she had multiple accidents. Apparently she also had an injured front leg because she needed to wear a brace. If I'm being completely honest, I feel like she's in pain and can't hold on much longer. I don't really see why her owners are convinced that she's happy and healthy. As much as I think that she needs to be put down, I don't want to see her go; she's been in the neighborhood since I've lived here.
