afterward has come to a close this evening. If you were not aware and did not click the hyperlink title, afterward is a surrealist piece of meta-fiction about an amnesiac that wakes up in a strange place and tries to find their way around. As she learns more about her current and past life, she's also meeting new people, hearing about their struggles in the strange land, and learning about the rules of the story. One opening note in afterward that sets the tone is when the protagonist is chastised on more than one occasion for saying the name of the Afterward with a capital A, rather than afterward with a lowercase a. The characters she meets explicitly tell her the two sound different, though how exactly they do is never explained, as it's something that can be conveyed through text but not sound. That was the idea behind afterward, to tell a story that could only really work as written word, to prove that writing can still be as expressive or clever as making a web comic or video.1005Please respect copyright.PENANAaR5QQCZ1Fu
afterward was a project I was writing while I was burnt out on writing New Infinity: Disk 2, but quickly became the focus of my attention as I found myself drawn into loving these characters and settings, and everything they offered. Now that it's over, I'll probably get back to NID2, but I also have some other plans I would like to get drafting on. Everything about afterward was super experimental, and I'm happy with how it turned out. Here's hoping for that next adventure. 1005Please respect copyright.PENANABQGiiV6BNf
