My stateroom was guarded, but we were determined to get a flying belt from the ship's stores I lifted Xuuok through a porthole.
"Are you sure you can hang on, Zoo?" I asked.
"Trust me!" he returned. "These hand magnets are part of our equipment."
He clung to the side of the ship like a spider. And sure enough, he was back with the flying belt and a desintegrador to boot!
Hastily I strapped the belt on.
"I'll tie myself to you," said Xuuok.
"Then we'll disintegrate a hole in the hull and out," I decided. But just as I got ready to turn on the ray, there was a loud thumping on the door.
There was only one thing to do. I turned the desintegrador on.
"Just watch that steel evaporate under this ray!" I announced/
"Hurry, Nick!" urged Xuuok. "They're breaking down the door!"
I worked vigorously. Just as the door gave way, I had a good-sized opening.
Down and away we darted on my flying belt.
"That was a narrow escape," said Xuuok. But the great ship had swung about in a wide loop.
"It's coming after us, Nick!" warned Xuuok. There was no place to hide.
All we could do was dodge and hope for a break. We outwitted them for a while but then Larissa got busy on deck.
"I'm zapping them with this paralisação cannon," she announced.
Paralyzed and rigid, we drifted helpless in midair, as the big ship came about and rushed towards us.
When we came to, we were already in chains. Larissa was busy broadcasting the news to the entire world
"An Asternoid with him!" she was repeating. But hidden Asternoid radio stations in the South Pacific also picked up her broadcast.
"What can it mean?" said one.
"Sound the alarm! Launch all ships!" barked his superior
