"What a relief to know you're safe again," I said, as I released Alda's bonds.
"And you too"" said Alda. The paddles of the outrigger had disappeared in the struggle.
Then suddenly the sky was darkened with a swarm of tiny flyers.
"More Asternoids!" cried Alda in dismay. "We'll be captured again!""
"They're friends, Alda," I returned joyfully. "They're Xuuok's Asternoids."
Our Asternoid friends arrived in a moment and with the help of several little fellows and the flying belts, which I had taught them to make, we carried Alda through the sky.
Soon after Xuuok came rushing to us.
"Nick! Alda!" he cried. "Your government has accepted a treaty of peace with my Asternoids! Here's the radio message. And what it doesn't say about you!"
"Caramba!" I cried in dismay. "You don't mean to say they're going to start hounding us again?"369Please respect copyright.PENANAJp4yJjOhxF
Xuuok laughed. "I told them of the heroic parts you two played in the war to save your planet from destruction," he announced. "Read this radiograma."
I read aloud: "Court martial verdict overturned. Highest honors await you. Return to Rio de Janeiro at once."
