“HEZAGO!”

CRASH

Being hit by a star shaped statue of champagne more than one hundred and thirty feet high is not exactly a pleasurable experience.

“Avada, what the heck!” Hezago shouted, rubbing the side of his head and looking furiously at a surprised Avada who had backed herself into a wall in an attempt to avoid the flying shards of alcohol.

Hezago floated down from where he stood, landing a few feet in front of Avada. The magical aurora surrounding him dissipated as he walked toward her, his magic moving the ice elsewhere that wasn't in his way.

“What on earth are you doing here?” He asked her, very much displeased. “What, it’s illegal to visit a friend now?” Avada replied, placing her hands on her hips and raising an eyebrow. Hezago pinched his nose bridge, annoyed. “Do you realise how long that took me!?” “No I don’t, and I sincerely do not care.” She said, wafting his annoyance away like a stench. “Girl if I-” “Anyways, I came here because I know for a fact that you have nothing to wear to the dance.”

Hezago opened his mouth to speak, but faltered. She had a point. In all the selves he had none of them could decide what looked nice and what didn't, a conflict if you’ve ever experienced it. He honestly didn't have one set out, so due to that he bought a dress and supposed it would do.

“Give me the chance,” Avada began, “and I won’t disappoint you.” Hezago paused, magicing the shards of champagne away. “Fine, but if you give me something ugly, I will strangle you.”

Avada smiled, ignoring the fact that he was serious.

“So…?” Hezago said, pointing out the outfit that was now lying upon Avada’s bed. She opened her mouth to speak, then closed it, and opened it again, as if unsure what to say. “You can be honest with me-”
104Please respect copyright.PENANA9mdGcGoLjL
She responded almost instantly. “Terrible. Ugly, even. It has nothing to do with the theme that you set, may I remind you, which is blue and red, and, honestly, as much as it looks great on you, pink in a winter dance, of all things, where do you get these ideas, looks weird.”
104Please respect copyright.PENANAGSe92NgfgT
Hezago scoffed. “It’s a ball, not a dance, and besides, I doubt you could do better.” Avada smirked one of those smiles that gave the vibe of “You’ll regret ever asking that question again”. She got up from her dorm bed, opened her closet, and out floated four considerably large folds of fabric. Hezago stood, hands on hips, and raised an eyebrow. Avada raised an eyebrow back. “What? Are you the only person who can legally own fabric?” Hezago scoffed, then spoke. “Just get on with it.”

“Thank you. So I’ve made pieces before this, but none of them were dresses, but just bear with me here.” “Okay then, I’m bearing with you.” She paused, stared at him, and went back to what she was doing. Was it something I said? He thought, to later realise that it wassomething he said.

“So, I've got three colour sets, and I just need you to choose.” “Okay, let's see…” Hezago said, taking an extremely long look. ”The first one, blue, purple, white and green, look somewhat okay, but I don't like the presence of green.” He moved on to the next one. “Hmm… It’s very light compared to the rest. It’s mostly blues, too much of one colour, so I don’t like it. It’s giving cinderella.” And last but not least, “Terrible. The combination of dark purple and a respectively dark green sucks ass, and it thought you said no pink?”
104Please respect copyright.PENANA6RyYSbo1kQ
Avada responded duly. “Okay, no pink. But what catches your eye?” Hezago paused for a second. “The first one. I think it’d be best to replace the green with the dark red or something.” “Alright, now that’s some progress! I’m thinking blue for the upper body, which will blend into purple at the lower end of the body, which, I assume, will be a ball gow-” “No.” Avada turned to face him. “What?” “No, and, mind you, I have my reasons. I’ve worn one for far too many times today alone.” “Okay then…”
104Please respect copyright.PENANAnqsMZJC8on
She continued.
104Please respect copyright.PENANASbZwmnlQK1
“So, we’ll keep the blend, and it’ll just be a long sleeved bodycon dress, not too eye catching or anything of the sort. About where the white is going, I have no idea, but a fine dusting of it at the very bottom of the dress will do. What do you think?”
104Please respect copyright.PENANAdSFmAj9zt0
Hezago observed the design she had made, acknowledging her artsmanship in more than one area. “Great dress; love what you did with the white, but where’s the red?” Avada paused, a thoughtful look overcoming her. “We could make the heel-” “Definitely not, the bottom of the dress transitions to a white akin to snow, and then a random change to red disrupts that. I’m thinking a very light purple or white for th-”

“Who says ‘akin’ anymore?”

Hezago blinked at her.

“What?”
104Please respect copyright.PENANA6QqRGSI78A
A pause.
104Please respect copyright.PENANA4I4P7QU0mO
“Nothing. Anyways, I see where you're coming from, but the red heels would really look nice with the purple.” “Exactly my point. It looks nice with the purple, not the white.” Avada, displeased with this conclusion, agreed anyway. “Okay, so the white’s gone, and now it’s just a blue to purple transition and some red here and there; very much bland.”
104Please respect copyright.PENANAXMQeEJPKgu
Hezago, ever so wise, spoke. “Then let’s add the white back to the lower end, but dotted, like stars or something.” Avada looked thoughtful as she made the suggested edits to the design. “Huh. I guess that will work.”

By the time they had done the dress (and hezago had gone to finish decorating for the ball), the event had already started, and Hezago, as Escalene was to host, but he proved absent from its opening.

“My god Avada, It’s like you’re trying to kill me!” “It’s not my fault that your hair is such a– argh mess!” She had a point. Upon that alliteration of her mother giving him absurdly long hair on top of the rest of the other things Hezago had to deal with, hezago just… left it to be. He rarely properly combed his hair, as a quick detangling spell would often take care of that for him, but on the occasion that he did, like this one, it proved to always be a pain.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAib4BrpUXeI
She dragged the comb through his hair, drawing another scolding from Hezago. “Do you want me to do this or not!?” “Okay, okay, just be more careful…” he replied, stroking his luscious locks of reddish pinkish hair. “Thank you!” And she proceeded to continue.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAsmYiFscbRA
“So, I’ve got the dress-” “Obviously.” She stared at him for a moment, and then continued. “Now all that’s ready is for you to actually put on the dress.” And he did. They had compromised on another place to put some additional white and that rested within a shawl like cloth draped around Hezago’s (or Escalene’s) shoulders.

Avada gave a standing ovation the moment she saw Hezago in the outfit, in her words, looking “Positively stunning,” and “Snack worthy”, whatever that meant.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAlGbqCk4LnB
The two, after Hezago’s forced ceasing of Avada calling out how short he was when he was Escalene, departed from the dorm, and left for the ball that had already started a long ass time ago.
. . .

They walked down the hall, Avada sporting a suit and, and a stunning Escalene sporting a dress. They walked, heels clicking against the tile in an empty hall amidst the beginning of the ball. Hezago stopped right in front of the door. “I’m not supposed to enter through here. I’m the host, and-” Avada interrupted in a sing-song voice. “I don’t think that matters~! We’re already here~!” “I’d think it’d be better if I just–” “We’re already here~! Zack is waiting for you~! Go inside!” Hezago paused. “What does Zack have to do with anythin-”

Avada then shoved him through the absurdly large double doors and into the dance, which froze upon his arrival. Most heads turned towards him, and he just smiled nervously. Many were jealous, many were romanced, and many just didn't give a shit.

Hezago took a tentative step forward, hands folded in front of himself. He then took another and another. Little by little, the room's attention turned to other things, and he was free to do whatever.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAjSiBOPmgTY
It seemed the ball had started without him, but he supposed that they’d had a reason to do so. He wandered, having no sense of presence, until he bumped into zack.
104Please respect copyright.PENANA6rAV4NMQaU
“Oh, Hello! You’re very… lovely tonight?” Zack said, albeit nervously. Hezago smiled, glad Zack did not recognise him. He knew nothing of Escalene; which was just a female him, and thank goodness for that.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAecDUtbujKk
“Thank you~!” I must say, you look very stunning yourself.” Zack blushed, turning red. “Th-thanks…” “You’re welcome. Say, what’s your name?” Hezago said, hoping to steer him away from realisation.” “Zackariah, but most people call me Zack.”
104Please respect copyright.PENANAy4MizAS2RQ
Hezago smiled sweetly, still silver eyes gleaming, “Thought so. You look like a Zack, and a handsome one at that too.” And Zack blushed, furiously red.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAppaLqWFBUm
Hezago smiled lightly, and turned away from him to take in the sights of the ball. The champagne statue never went up again after its shattering, thank goodness, as the heat in the area was ticking up, making a statue of the kind quite prone to melt.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAEXOmmRktr1
His replacement host, Professor Michelton, had realised this and stood up accordingly. “Ahem;” He said, in a surprisingly loud voice. The entire room had turned toward the professor, waiting expectantly.

“Our original host happens to have… ties with the Galaxian monarchy, and has arranged for us to have access to the palace grounds.” Upon his finishing, a portal larger than your standard house appeared, showing a swirl of colour that could lead to anywhere.

The majority of the room, along with Escalene and Zack, entered through the swirl of a portal and arrived at a garden with a very appealing frozen lake in the centre.
104Please respect copyright.PENANAXYoazTGcp0
“This place is very… familiar.” Zack muttered, astray from Hezago’s hearing. Hezago, who owned the place, went ahead and plucked a tulip from the garden and watched in slight discomfort as other people began skating on the nearby body of water, a slow and waltzable music having begun.

Zack walked over and stood next to him, took her hand, and smiled. Hezago, realising who was touching him, blushed ever so slightly. Zack took the flower from him and planted it in his hair, complementing it well. “May I have this dance?” “Oh- why- I- Yes.” Hezago said, in a swirl of stuttering, allowing “Oh, um, yes I guess”, Zack whisked them away to a moment of intimacy upon the lake.
104Please respect copyright.PENANANSESmdPOko
They looked into each other's eyes as they slid across the icy surface, eyes like an ever-interesting mural from the other's perspective. Hezago smiled, taking the time to observe Zack’s now ‘attractively handsome’ features.
104Please respect copyright.PENANA37AteZ1bNZ
Zack was one of those tall sportsy boys, strong arms and all, and had the physique to prove it. With a complimentary dappling of light green eyes, a splashing of freckles and a curtain of long dirty blonde hair to follow, Hezago wondered why it took him so long to realise how much comfort he received whenever he was held in Zack’s arms, how Zack would look whenever he rested in Hezago’s lap after a long game, and the charismatic but sometimes serious sort of attitude that kept Hezago going.

They stood there, swaying to the music, Hezago’s hands finding their way to Zack’s neck and Zack’s to Hezago’s waist. Zack looked dreamily into the silver of Hezago’s eyes before speaking. “You look so beautiful tonight, Hezago.” Hezago stiffened, heart racing. He knew? “Wh- How did you know?” He asked, still Escalene, still dancing there, hands still around Zack’s neck. Zack smiled for a moment, a forest in his eyes, before speaking. “Your eyes,” He said, “They’re like a sea of mercury, a universe of stars.”
104Please respect copyright.PENANArLKXliJ9bV
Hezago blushed violently, or as much as his skin would allow, before speaking. “And you’re not weirded out by this?” “There’s no need to when I have in my hands the brightest of the ball.” Their hands found their way to each other, the moves the music called for changing. “You know, I always liked you, Hezago,” Zack said, twirling him around. Hezago took a moment to respond. “...Oh really?” They drew near once again, hand on the other’s waist and and in the other’s hand, “Yeah. Anytime I was around you, I got this fluttery feeling in my stomach.”
104Please respect copyright.PENANAs8dh2SXDBW
He threw Hezago out for a twirl, of which Hezago spun back into his embrace. “It was only until after we got the invitation to Vonellia did I realise they were for you.” Hezago danced in silence, not exactly sure how to react. He was just now realising the meaning of the overly nice gestures that Zack gave. The bucketloads of attention andaffection that he’d get whenever anything happened. The awkward moments they had whenever one of the two said something too couple-like to brush over. He was very much concerned about how this all flew over his head, and was in some part of him, very much happy that Zack was telling him this, as the feeling was reciprocated.
104Please respect copyright.PENANATGurK7UDbw
“Well,” Hezago began, “I’ll be glad it was.” Zack looked at him, still smiling, but a blush now creeping up on his neck. “Now you’ve said that, I realise how much I like you too.” The two neared each other, closeness eminent. “You’re always there for me through thick and thin, you’re always supportive whenever something bad happens, and through it all… you stayed. No matter what I did, whether morally questionable or not, you stayed. That, I can appreciate.” Hezago had now at this point rested his head upon the taller Zack’s chest, both slowly swaying and sliding upon the lake’s surface, others dancing around them.
104Please respect copyright.PENANANBsozmRvQt
“You know what, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Zack,” Hezago said, rather abruptly as he lifted his head off of an adoring Zack’s chest, “I love you.” Zack went red, but as quickly as possible, replied. “I love you too, Hezago.”

And right then and there, as the song reached its climax, they kissed.

The old Galaxian monarchy's garden was an extravagant and large area the size of what was once the CNA’s Rhode Island. It existed for 300 years before a revolutionary set it aflame for reasons unknown. The culprit was later sentenced to death by drowning, for many reasons in which included that of the arson.
