喪夫的Frannie是一個小小的獸醫，每天致力拯救受傷的動物。有一天，她邂逅了迷人的FBI員警。由一開始的看不順眼到漸漸被吸引，然然互生情愫。Frannie還認識了一個有翅膀的小女孩Max，捲入一場科學室的陰謀中，發現一點也不重要的自己丈夫死去的真相。
作者之前寫過超好看的《極速飛行》系列，可是只翻譯了第一、二集，成了我學生時期的其中一個遺憾改天去找找看有沒有原文
不得不說這作者真的很喜歡Mix這個字，《極速飛行》裡的主角也叫Max，這本主角也叫Max天底下只有你會用Maximum 這個字來做名字
小說把max描寫得非常好，既有天真無邪、小任性的一面，也有在成長環境下所造成的警惕和多疑。不會過於信任人，又不會過於早熟。簡單來說就是一個11歲小女孩會有的表現不過其他角色就平面得多
聽說外國的的小說大多有一套公式在，就是容易影視化。寫小說就像編戲一樣，不用花費太多時間就能改編成一套電影。
看完這本小說後，我確信傳言是真的。這小說讀起來很像在看電影—喪夫的女主角遇上痛失妻小的男主角，一開始由冤家到後來漸漸擦出火花，共同解決危機後墜入愛河；一群討喜的小孩，擁有這個年齡所有美好的特質；十惡不赦的壞蛋科學家；無能的FBI……優點是讀起來非常爽、令人停不下來，缺點是人物過於平面化。除了Mix令人印象深刻外，其他人物過目即忘。
本書的陰謀其實老土到不行壞人是科學家還能搞出甚麼？可是勝在情節夠逼真，在我們不知道的地方，說不定這些事正在發生，非常適合用來警示世人。
