After looking for a long time, I finally found Ian's dorm building. Hunter Hall.
I looked for the room number 312 and finally stumbled across it after a few minutes. I knocked lightly and the door flew open after a few seconds. Ian greeted me and let me into his room. Macy was already in there, listening to music again, holding some oil paints. She shot her head up at me when she saw me walking in and almost looked disappointed that I showed up. It was a very subtle look but it didn't go unnoticed.
"Do you want a drink?"
"No thanks, sorry i'm late I was trying to finish an assignment up."
"Nah, you're good. We couldn't start without you because you're our muse."
I sat down on the floor and set my bag down beside his bed. He was dressed so casually wearing a nike crew neck and sweat pants. His dorm was huge and spacious and he shared it with another guy who stayed on the other side of the room. I've never been in a dorm before it looked so cool. I wonder what it'd be like to live with another girl for a whole year. It looked like fun.
Ian and Macy sat down beside each other and Macy scooted closer to him. She made it to where their thighs were almost touching. He didn't say anything or move so he probably didn't care too much or maybe he enjoyed it. I sat in front of them so they could clearly see my face for their portrait of me. Ian brought out a little black bag and propped his canvass on a little easel. He pulled out a small tray from the bag and it was a set of chalk pastels from white to black.
He got sketchbook out and a pencil and started doodling on paper. Macy started painting immediately on her canvass with her oil paints, without sketching first. She seemed confident and looked like she knew exactly what she was doing. I felt a bit shy knowing that they both would be looking at every detail of my face to draw me and it made me a bit self conscious.
After a while I got tired of holding my self up and leaned back onto the bed behind me. I didn't know where to look so I was just focusing on the wall behind them. I looked over and Ian and I made direct eye contact. He looked so focused. He was analyzing every detail of my face and continued his sketch on his notebook, looking at me periodically.
"Okay, I'm bored guys. I finished my outline. Can we continue tomorrow?" Macy said dropping her paint brush. It's been an hour and some minutes.
"Sure." Ian looked down at his sketch one more time before closing his notebook. He collected his chalks and put them back into the little black bag. Macy stood up and took her things and told Ian bye before walking out. I rolled my eyes. Obviously she likes him but she could at the very least acknowledge my presence as well. I'm here too.
"I should go too. I gotta catch the bus."
"Let me take you home."
"I promised my mom i'd take the bus home today. It's okay."
"Let me walk you to the bus stop then."
Geez he's persistent.
"Umm, I-. I'm okay. Its not far from here anyway."
"The closest bus stop is 15 minutes away."
He's right. I guess I should let him take me. If it's 15 minutes by car who knows how long I would've been walking. Alone at that.
"Okay you're right. It's probably not smart to walk alone all that way." I smiled giving in to his plead.
He smiled, looking genuinely relieved that I said okay. He grabbed his keys and wallet from his bedside table and a threw on a black wind breaker. We both walked out of the room and went down the elevator to the front of the dorm.
"Wait here. I'll bring the car."
I stood at the edge of the parking lot watching kids walk by and teachers leave. The parking lot was mostly empty since the only people left were the kids that lived on campus. As I stood their waiting, I felt a small rain droplet drop onto my forehead . I looked up to see the sky was becoming cloudy again and a small sound of thunder came. Out of no where it started pouring down rain. I jumped a bit where I was a bit startled by the sudden storm and started shivering because it was freezing cold. I looked around to see where Ian was and he pulled his car up to me after a couple minutes.
He had a nice white Mercedes. I don't know much about cars but I know his was expensive. Everything about it screamed daddy's money. He got out of the car and ran to me with an umbrella in his hand and put it above me. He walked me to the car opening the door for me. I quickly got in and he ran to the other side got in and started driving off.
The rain continued on as he started driving through town. I was completely drenched down to my socks. I didn't want to mess his car up with how wet I was but I kept dripping down onto his leather seats.
"I'm sorry if i'm ruining your car."
"Don't worry about it. It's just water it'll dry" He turned to look at me and smiled. "I think I have some paper towels in my glove box if you want to wipe yourself off a bit."
"Thanks."
I grabbed some of the paper towel and started drying my face. When I looked down at it after there were brown spots on it. I was confused for a few seconds till I realized I put makeup on this morning. I pulled down the mirror above me and looked at my face. Fuck. I forgot that I covered my cheek this morning because of the bruise. I didn't think it'd be so noticeable bruises don't usually show up so easily on me. My cheek was a dark purple color and it was definitely very noticeable. The rain had washed my makeup off and I had wiped what was left of it leaving my face bare and exposed.
I was scared that he might say something about it when he saw it and make fun of me or something. He looked over at me and looked deep into my eyes. We always made eye contact but never said anything after. He was the type of person to look at you during a conversation the whole time. I like to let my eyes wander from time to time because I feel weird holding eye contact with people for too long.
I looked away after a few seconds clearing my throat to fill the silence.
"What happened to your cheek?"
I tried think of something fast.
"My little cousin threw a toy at me. It was brutal."
I looked away back at the road and I glanced at him not turning my head completely so he wouldn't know I was looking. I was trying to read his expression but I couldn't. I would love to know what he was thinking right now. I hope my excuse was believable enough that he wouldn't ask anymore questions.
He kept silent for the remainder of the ride as we only had 5 more minutes till we reached the bus stop. The rain was still falling down hard when we arrived and I was reluctant to get out. I saw an old man waiting on the bus stop bench sitting in the cold rain alone. "Can I use your umbrella?"
I took his umbrella from the floor in front of his seat before he could answer and ran out of the car. I went to the old man sitting on the bench and gave him the umbrella. He looked at me with a big grin and told me thank you. It was raining super hard so I sped walked back to the car trying not to trip or fall and embarrass myself.
When I got back in the car Ian was looked at me surprisingly. "I'll get you new umbrella." I said smiling softly hoping he wouldn't be too mad I just lent his umbrella to a random stranger.
"I didn't need it anyways." He said and he smiled back at me.
I started shivering in response to my body being too cold. I cringed in my wet clothing that was sticking to my skin leaving almost nothing to the imagination since I was still in my school uniform.
"You sure you don't want me to take you home? I don't mind."
"Yes i'm sure. I can wait the rain out."
"I think I have some of my gym clothes in the back if you want to change into them. I'm sure wet clothes aren't too comfortable."
"That'd be great if you don't mind me wearing them."
He reached to the back seat of the car and into a black gym bag. He pulled out black basketball shorts and a white fitted nike shirt and handed them to me. I started taking my sweater off that was on top of my button up uniform. Before I started unbuttoning my dress shirt I paused and looked to Ian to see if he was looking. He turned his head away from me facing the window next to him to where the back of his head was facing me. I continued unbuttoning my top until it was completely off exposing me black sports bra. I tried to put on the shirt and shorts as quickly as possible so he wouldn't be waiting too long.
"Okay i'm finished."
He turned his head around and looked at me. His eyes went from my face down to my shorts and he started laughing.
"I look stupid don't I."
"I think you look-"
He paused.
"-Cute."
Cute?
"You're joking right?"
"I'm not. This look suits you."
"If you aren't joking why did you laugh?"
"I'm sorry it's just- they're so big on you." He started laughing again. I looked down at the shorts before laughing with him realizing that I looked like an idiot with how big the shorts were on me.
"I guess they are pretty big."
"Sorry it's all I had. I'll make a note to pack smaller clothes in case of emergency."
We sat there for a few minutes in comfortable silence looking outside at the rain. It looked like it was calming down but it still was raining pretty hard. I laid my head onto the seat and closed my eyes. The sound of the rain was making me sleepy. I don't know why i'd suddenly got so tired. I think he turned on something to make the seat warm bc my seat felt like it was heated. It felt like a heating pad was on my back and it felt so good.
So good that I might've accidentally fell asleep.
Only for a couple minutes though.
I woke up from my mini nap and looked around before I fully processed where I was. I looked over at Ian and he had his chair reclined back and his hands behind his head looking up at the sky through his sun roof. He noticed I was looking at him and turned his head towards me.
"You're awake."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep like that. The sound of the rain always knocks me out."
"You must've been tired you were asleep for a while."
I jumped up and checked my phone to see the time.
8:17pm
I was asleep for a whole hour.
"Shit! The bus! Did I miss it?"
"No the last one comes at 8:30. The rain stopped a few minutes ago. "
"Okay. I'll wait at the bus stop the bus should be here pretty soon then."
"Do you want me to wait with you? It's dark out."
"No it's okay. I kept you here for a long time now I think i've got it from here."
He sighed.
"Okay. Let me walk you then."
I nodded and he got out of the car and I grabbed my wet uniform from and bunched it up in my hands. Ian opened the door for me and grabbed my uniform and carried it to the bus stop. After we got there I turned to get my uniform from him and he gave it to me but didn't walk away immediately.
"Vee?"
"Yea?"
He paused for a moment.
"Nothing, have a good night."
I didn't push to know what he was originally going to say. I was too tired to. Whatever it was wasn't important
"You too. Thanks for the ride."

When I got home I immediately hit the bed. I didn't go to sleep right away though. I had a surge of energy and decided to text Jordan.
"You up?"
She didn't respond after a few seconds so I turned my phone off. I threw my uniform in my hamper and told myself i'd wash it tomorrow. I decided to listen to music before going to sleep but I couldn't find my bag.
I started looking for it around my room, messing it up. I looked under my bed, in my drawer, on the floor.
Let's retrace my steps.
I woke up this morning. I had my bag on the way to school. I had my bad in class. Did I leave it in class? No, I took it with me after school. The last place I remember having it was Ian's room.
Ian's room.
I'm 90% sure I left it in there. I need it tomorrow for class it has everything in there. My wallet, my headphones, my homework and other miscellaneous things that I might need.
I sat back on my bed and grabbed my phone. I should probably tell Ian so he knows who's it is. He should be back by now.
"hey this is Vee. I think I left my bag in your room."
My phone chimed a few seconds after he read my message. It was a picture of a black tote bag with a V on the bottom corner hung up on a hook on the wall in his room next to his backpack.
"this one?"
I smiled knowing he didn't throw out my bag. It looked nice hung up and sort of fit the aesthetic of his room.
"yes that's the one. can I get it tomorrow after class?"
"sure."
"thanks! :)"
I set my phone down after my last text and made a note to charge it this time instead of letting it die and complaining in the morning. I plugged it up to my charger and got under my covers and gradually fell into a deep sleep.
