Tuesdays weren't very busy.
I had only 3 classes so the last hour or so I usually would stay in the library or go to a study hall. I had a language class, which I decided on french because I thought it'd be cool. I definitely regret it now. Then I had choir and P.E. Which was probably the easiest class known to mankind. Especially if you're athletic.
I'm not super athletic but I can do basic things. I could run a mile but if you asked me to run 2 I probably couldn't. The first week of class last week we received our gym uniforms. I thought we could wear whatever we wanted but to my dismay, we have to wear track suits. They were black and white with the school logo on the top right just below the shoulder. They weren't ugly but they were super hot and thick. Today was the first day in P.E where we were actually doing something. Last week we sat inside of the gymnasium on our phones because the gym teachers wife had a baby so he was out.
We were sitting outside on the huge track and field bleachers. There were a bunch of kids outside out of uniform playing football or kicking soccer balls around. My class was made up of 20 kids and mostly boys with me and two other girls being an exception. Our teacher was very tall and built and his shirt hugged his upper body. You could tell he did some powerlifting or some body building. He was an older man maybe late 40's. He had us change into our tracksuits and walk outside to the bleachers. We waited for him there for a few minutes until he started walking towards us.
"Okay, good afternoon everyone my name is coach Henry. Today is gonna be pretty easy for some of you and for others this might be the hardest day of the week. We're going to be doing 4 miles around the track."
I looked at everyone to see if they'd have the same mental reaction as me but no one batted an eye. The whole class seemed more or less fit and the ones that weren't didn't react at all.
"If you're interested in joining our track team come see me after. If you're interested in any other sports teams you can also see me as well and we can talk about it. This will be your grade for the week if you finish without stopping. I will be out again Thursday as some of you may know already my wife had her baby. You can start now."
Some people fixed their shoes and others took their track suit jackets off and just had white muscle shirts on and began running. It was dry outside but there were some wet spots from the storm yesterday night.
I began jogging around the track and I tried not to focus on the people running so I wouldn't feel too intimidated on how ahead of me or how much faster they were. I was looking at the field in the middle where there were some football players tossing the ball back and forth. One of them shirtless with sweat glistening on his body like some model in a sports magazine. I couldn't stop myself from looking at him as the sun was directed towards him and his body.
He looked really similar to Ian. He must be the famous other Peter brother, Kai. He has black hair just like Ian. I couldn't see his eyes well because I was running but I could definitely tell they were related. They looked almost like twins.
The more I ran the less I felt my legs. They were burning and so was my core. I felt like I haven't had to run like this since I was in like elementary school. At this time some of the guys were finishing up their laps and were on mile 4. The coach was standing by the edge of the track and told us to keep going each time we ran past him. I got to my third mile before I started feeling sick. I barely made it past the second one to be honest.
"C'mon keep moving!"LAST ONE!"
I felt like my ankle was gonna melt off. I was so exhausted. I felt like I was sweating profusely and probably way more than any of the others. I stopped jogging and took my jacket off where I was wearing a white muscle shirt. I felt sweat in places that I didn't know had sweat glands. Some of the other kids had already given up and sat down on the benches with all their track suit jackets on the floor. I tried to push on as I only had one more lap around left. Some of the foot ball boys were watching us struggle and were giggling like school girls. Assholes.
I continued on trying to push through on my last lap. I began running instead of jogging because I wanted to finish faster. Eventually I finished my last mile, breathing extremely heavily, but nonetheless I finished. I was proud of myself considering that was the most athletic thing i've done since elementary school.
The coach gave me a high five and I sat down on the bench nearest to me and tried to catch my breath. After a few minutes I was breathing regularly. I got up and went through the football field to go grab my jacket I threw off while I was running.
"Hey! Baldy!"
Some dude yelled and I assumed he was talking to me and looked over. It was Kai. Him and his little football friends were around him snickering at me and I guess the fact that I had no hair. I just rolled my eyes and kept walking. I wasn't going to let some ass try to ruin my day. It's always the hot ones that are rude.

After P.E, I was free for an hour and some minutes because I only had three classes today. I went to the library to study a bit and utilize the free computers. I had a bunch of math homework already and it kind of stressed me out. I needed to start going to the tutoring but I'd been too lazy to sign up. My phone starting ringing saving me from doing my math assignment.
"Hello?"
"Hey it's Ian."
I sat up in my chair and looked at the number before putting the phone back to my ear.
"Oh! Hi. I didn't recognize your voice, sorry."
His voice sounded groggy and raspy. Very different than yesterday.
"Oh yeah, I think I caught something from being in the cold. My immune system sucks." He let out a dry laugh but it sounded painful.
Damn now I feel bad. I think this is partially my fault.
"Well I just wanted to call you and tell you I still have your bag and I can have someone bring it over to you."
"Is it okay if I just come get it? I'm at the library so I'm not too far."
"Yeah sure I'll leave the door cracked for you."
"Okay great, thanks. I'm coming right now."
I hung up the phone and placed my papers into my bag and got up from the computer station I was sitting at. I started making my way towards the boys dorms.
The walk there was short now that i'd gotten more familiar with the academy and where everything was. I was till not sure where some places were but I knew where the main places were. The cafeteria, library, and my classes. Also the boys and girls' dorm.
When I arrived at his door it was cracked like he said it would be. I decided i'd just walk right in since he was expecting me anyway. I slowly opened the door and peaked into the room before stepping in. I didn't see him in there but his bed was disheveled and he had his laptop on the bed with pencils and papers everywhere. I stepped into the room and cleared my throat just in case he might be in the corner changing or something. I wanted to make sure I was allowed to fully be in the room and didn't want to walk into anything.
He's definitely not here.
I walked around his room looking at his posters and decor. His room was very plain but still had a few accents that kind of fit his vibe. There was one poster on the wall and it was of the movie Terminator. His room was a very neutral tone and he had some pictures up on the desk next to his bed.
I went to take a closer look at the pictures when I saw a sketch book next to them. It looked like the same one he was using for the portrait. I really wanted to see what it looked like so far so I opened it up to see how far he'd gotten. I flipped through the pages of the notebook looking through his sketches looking for the one he did of me. I heard a door open and I quickly closed the book and turned around.
"You got over here fast."
It was a half naked Ian standing in front of me with sweat pants hanging low on his waist and a small towel sitting on his shoulders. He looked damn good I couldn't lie. My eyes were glued to his eyes because if I let them wander they'd be all over his body. I finally saw what Sarah and Jordan were talking about. Ian was gorgeous.
"Yeah, um sorry I came in unannounced you left the door cracked so I just stepped in."
"No you're good. I was trying to take a quick shower before you showed up because i've been in bed all day. I looked like shit."
"I'm sorry."
"What for?"
"I had you in the rain with me yesterday it was freezing. It's kind of my fault."
"Don't apologize for that it was my choice. I'm surprised you're not sick though you were in the cold longer than I was."
"I have a pretty strong immune system." I said raising my arm flexing my nonexistent muscles making him laugh.
He had noticeable bags under his eyes and his voice was still groggy. We stood there for a second before57Please respect copyright.PENANAXjZQeJXYBl
he started walking over towards me. Despite being the less athletic brother his body was very in shape. My eyes trailed down his body to his torso where his V line was being slightly revealed. I don't think he was wearing any boxers because his-
"Vee?"
My head snapped up and I realized he was holding my bag out to me.
That's so embarrassing.... I hope I wasn't looking at his body too long he's going to think i'm some pervy stalker. First the instagram like, now this.
"Oh, sorry." I grabbed my bag from him."Thanks for keeping it safe."
"Anytime."
I stood there for a second before turning around to start heading back to the library. Before I got to the door Ian stopped me.
"Wait-"
I turned around again to face him.
"Are you busy right now?"
I hesitantly said, "Not really... why?"
"I wanted to go ahead and finish the art portrait of you. If you have time."
"Oh, um-"
I checked my phone to see the time. I had 45 minutes until my mom came to pick me up. I can't stay after too late because I'm technically still grounded.
"I have 45 minutes until I need to go. Will that be enough time?"
"More than enough." He smiled.
He clears the paperwork and laptop off his bed and grabs his easel and canvass along with his black bag full of chalks. He sits on the bed and signals me to sit with him. I climb onto his bed and we both sit across from each other. He was still shirtless and his hair was dripping a bit onto his bed. I kept my eyes up and made sure not to get caught gawking at his body.
He started drawing me onto the canvass starting with his outline. He was so focused in on what he was doing. He crinkled his eyebrows and tilted his head and held the canvass close. He looked up at me periodically before continuing. I just watched him in silence admiring his dedication. He moved his eyes around my face and took in every detail. My eyes, my lips, my chin, my forehead. He started filling those details in swiftly.
I didn't feel bored or uncomfortable sitting there while he was drawing. It was sort of fascinating watching him bring his sketch to life. He didn't add any color it was just black and white.
"Can I ask you something ?" He stopped momentarily before continuing.
"Sure."
"Why did you chose to come to Preston Academy?"
I didn't really know what to say. The question caught me off guard and I didn't prepare a lie to tell. Before the academy I went to Corrol Highschool, the school closest to my house. I don't know why or how but my parents wanted me to come to the academy for my last year of high-school hoping it wasn't too late for me to earn a scholarship to any college.
"My parents did. I didn't want to go here at first."
He nodded.
"What about you?"
"I had no choice either to be completely honest. My parents went here when they were kids so I guess I'm just keeping the tradition going."
I wondered what it was like to grow up around here. Everyone knew everyone and everyone had money. They had privileges they didn't even know existed.
"What got you into art then?"
He continued his drawing as he answered my question.
"Being around my mother a lot growing up rubbed off on me. She's used to be an amazing artist. She's retired now."
"Are you and your mom close?"
"Very."
I paused and looked past him at the picture of him and his mom on his desk. They both looked very happy and we're standing in front of some kind of modern looking building.
"What about you?"
He stopped and looked up at me.
"We used to be."
"I'm sorry if that was a sensitive topic-"
"No it's okay. We just aren't as close as we used to be."
We fell silent again as he added more details to the canvass. After a few more minutes he put his chalk down.
"I'm finished."
He lifted it up to show me. It wasn't completely done but you could already tell it was me. He had a few details left but for the time he had he did amazing.
"Wow you did a really great job. You're really talented."
He smiled at me and placed it back onto the bed. He started putting away his chalks and I helped him. I got up off the bed and grabbed my bag. My mom hasn't texted me that she's here yet which was odd. She's usually on time picking me up.
The 45 minutes passed by so fast. It didn't even feel like it was that long. I actually didn't want to leave, I was enjoying his company. He didn't seem stuck up or anything he seemed really kind. He walked me to the door and thanked me for staying over so he could continue on the project. We stood there a moment waiting for the other to say goodbye.
"Do you want to walk with me to the admin building?"
He seemed caught by surprise by my question. His confusion turned into a small smile and he answered with a nod. I don't know the exact reason I asked him to come with me. I was feeling bold and also didn't mind having someone to talk to on the way there. My mom was supposed to be picking me up by the front of the admin building so I decided I could wait there for her until she came.
We both left his dorm and walked next to each other on the sidewalk down the stairs. We made small talk until we got there and he was telling me about different art styles he's tried over the years. I listened attentively and watched as he seemed excited that someone was listening to his rant about how he believed surrealism was the best art style.
We reached the admin building and I looked around at the parking lot for my mom's car and it was no where to be found. She also hasn't sent me a text either that she was going to be late which was unusual to me.
"There's a party this Saturday. Are you going?"
"I didn't know about it. Where is it?"
"It's at Macy's house."
Well that's probably why I didn't hear about it until now.
"Oh..probably not."
"You should really go. It's supposed to be masquerade themed so we have to wear masks and dress up."
"I don't think she likes me very much to be honest. I don't know how she would feel about me coming to her party uninvited."
"Well I'm inviting you."
I stood there looking at him as he displayed a tint of hopefulness on his face. I don't know why he wanted me to go but I mean, I'm always down to go to a party. A masquerade themed party sounds like fun. I can ask Jordan to do my makeup and help me with an outfit.
"Okay. I'm bringing my friends though."
"Great." He smiled at me after hearing my answer.
I heard a honk and I jumped a little. I looked over and it was my mom parked in the parking lot. How long has she been there? She looked highly irritated. Yikes.
"I gotta go that's my mom."
"Okay, bye Vee. I'll see you in class."
I walked off into my moms car and slammed the door shut.
"Sorry mom I didn't even see you were there. Were you waiting long?"
"No." She sounded very annoyed about something and I wasn't sure if I should ask or leave it alone. She reversed the car and eyed Ian standing there watching us drive off.
"Why didn't you text you were going to be late?"
No answer. She must be really upset about something. I decided not to say anything else clearly she wasn't in the mood to converse.
We drove back home in silence.
