"Father... Father? Father!"
My father awoke to the deathly scream of Alician. "What? What?! What... what is it?" He awoke in a daze. He drank the night before.
"Father," the girl innocently and politely pleaded, "I demand that the abomination of a boy be removed."
"... Your brother?"
"What? No, the island boy, Father."
"What? Oh, but Alice, he's your future hus—"
"No!"
"Shut the hell up!!" I yelled, tired of the screaming that echoed throughout the first floor. "I'm trying to read."
"Why are you out of your room?" Father asked, "Not.. not that that's a bad thing."
"I'm reading down here because my air-conditioning machine is broken, and it's deathly warm in there."
"Brother!" my sister scolded, "You realized how horrible the boy is, so convince Father."
"... The boy must go," I slowly, lazily stated, "So, Father, please remove the boy..."
"Well," Father began, "You don't sound very enthusiastic about it, son, so I'll let the boy stay... is that fine?"
"Sure."
"No!" Alice once again yelled, "No, no, no! The boy's unbearable. He should go, Father. And Brother, you should agree with me!" Father was rubbing his temples to try to keep his hangover from killing him. I was covering my ears.
"What was that? Didn't catch you on that last one, since you were too damn loud."
"You should agree with me, I said."
"Oh, yeah, sure, I do agree... but I really don't care."
"Oh, you're a helpless a—"
"Whoa, whoa! No strong language in here, young miss!"
"But you just said damn!"
"I'm a guy, but you're a lady. And we're in the village walls, are we not? You must be a good image in the town."
"Oh, shut up! You're so annoying, Brother."
"... I have a name, Alice."
"That you do, Brother, but do I care? Oh, no, I don't. Just like how you don't care about my thoughts, hm?"
"Fine, fine, do you want me to kill the kid? Maybe slit his throat. He's staying at the Comfort Zone, right? The inn?"
"... Actually, that's not a bad idea..."
"I was joking."
"There will be," my father stumblingly declared, "There... there will be no murdering while you two live, understand?"
"What if it's a private military contract?" Or self defense, or for a good cause, or if I'm just genuinely pissed.
"Then think first, and either kill or not." Could apply to any of the aforementioned.
"Hm..." Alice was humming. She couldn't whistle.
"Don't get any ideas! Now, you two go somewhere else so that I can get a nap in."
"Yes, Father," Alice and I responded in unison. We left to the backyard garden.
Once we were there, I tried to think of a somber note, since my sister would always be quiet when things are somber. Sadly, nothing came up. Oh, so sadly.
"Do you really not care for me," Alice began, "Your own blood?"
"You're just half." Actually, not even that.
"Hm?"
"No, nothing." Ah, the cold truth cannot be given to her. I only learned because I'm actually intelligent. Telling Alician the truth would end her.
"Aegrov," Alice started, bringing my attention back to reality, "You should ask Ella about Starboard. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to my room."
"Starboard?"
"Just ask her, damn it."
"Fine, fine..." Starboard? As in the right side of a boat?
"Oh, and if she tells you that Port's starting, just follow her instructions."
"... What. Are you trying to become a ship's captain or something?"
"Sure. Now I really need to rest." Rest? She's done jack today. Just yelling.
"Of course..." Alice fled away to her room, as if she was being chased by a mad dog.
And so, I made my way through the house, asking servants where Ella was, and found her in the second floor hallways. What she said afterwards was expected... in the beginning; it's the details that were worrisome.
