DESPICABLE ME
Capítulo 9: The Wolf Gala
The Brazilian phase was over and the competitors were relaxing at the party that the Brazilian government was throwing in their honor, a party that had started late as the runners had to get their vehicles off the treetops first due to a low ploy by Pierre no Doy Una, who along with his vile dog Muttley, was in the hospital in Rio de Janeiro.
"I wonder if I'll look good," Nahikari thought, as she looked in a full-body mirror.
The two sorcerers of Hogwarts received invitations to the gala party thanks to the intervention of the Ministry of Magic, as a way of thanking them for their work to transmit the race to the magical world.
Nahikari did not see herself as a pretty girl, with a face that was not that of a veela and with somewhat short and somewhat brown hair, however, as her mother had told her, the make-up worked wonders and accentuated the natural beauty that each girl wore inside.
The small freckles that marked the area under her eyes and went from one side of the bridge of his nose to the other, once a cause of her shame, now looked shiny and even highlighted her beauty. A hair dye spell made the young witch's hair dark and shiny, and she had lengthened it and combed it in the form of huge curls that formed some impressive pairs.
The dress was presented to her by Lynette Do Santos, Brazil's youngest Minister of Magic ever.
"I must thank him properly for the magnificent dress. You can see that he took care of even the smallest detail," she thought as she looked at the dress that elegantly matched the colors of her Hufflepuff home.
“Please, please, I hope James likes the dress.”
A few tappings announced that it was time to go to the gala party.
“I'll be right there, James, I'm almost ready (I need to calm my breathing).”
James went down to the hotel lobby and began to wander around the place impatiently as he played nervously with his suit flap and the cufflinks wearing a subtle reddish glow, which showed his Griffindor background.
"I'm sure Nahikari will be gawking at the sight of me," the young man thought, but when he looked up at the stands, he was the one who was gawking.
Nahikari shyly lowered her gaze but soon recovered and with firm but elegant steps went to James and extended her arm.
James took a few seconds to react, but he offered his arm and so together they went out into the street where a limousine was waiting for them.
.
.
The place where the gala party was held was a palace, classical music and various songs of slow and soft rhythms in Portuguese from the mid-eighties delighted the runners and various attendees.
Some, like Baron Hans Fritz, were in his element, while others, like Brutus and Lucas, looked uncomfortable, not to mention that neither the fearful bear nor Listus the beaver were invited for obvious reasons. The tenebrous couple, although they received an invitation, could not enter the gala by express order of the Ministry of Magic, another absence was that of Dr. Locovitch, who preferred to dedicate himself fully to his inventions than to attend something so banal, while the cavemen Piedro and Roco, were stuffing themselves with food with the open buffet.
“JA, I don't understand how those minions could have received an invitation, it's all nonsense," said Meena loudly, as if to be heard by Margo, Edith and Agnes.
Edith, who was held by her older sister, Margo, was criticizing her, "You shouldn't have been invited.”
“You're still going to do that, Meena," said Margo, who was very tempted to let Edith go.
“You're bad yourself," said Agnes, who had brought her unicorn teddy bear to the gala, "why shouldn't our friends come to the party?”
“You really ask why? Just look at them! I don't understand the people here, how they don't realize they're not human beings, they're... things.”
Margo adjusted her thick frame glasses with one hand and Edith was already savoring the future fight.
“Now, girls, it wouldn't be good for you to start a fight in this place.” Suddenly, a woman with purple hair and white gold, wearing an exquisite Venetian carnival mask with an awl in red and a matching dress, said, "It wouldn't be a good idea for you girls to start a fight in this place. Your father would be very angry that he was embarrassed at such a formal gala, and as for you, young lady, you'd be sure they get out of the party.”
“Mrs. Mind your own business," the wicked girl scout replied rudely, but she suddenly saw that she had made a mistake.
At lightning speed the old woman had bent her torso and now the Venetian mask was millimeters from Meena's face.
“A girl should know how to behave in front of her elders” that's what a cold voice full of hatred and bitterness said behind the mask that made the brat get goose bumps while her hair curls up at the back of her neck from fear.
"Manners, manners. Remember the rules of civility," said the woman again, this time in a gentle tone.
“Whatever...” Meena said and left the place, but she didn't want to miss the opportunity to tell Agnes that a unicorn teddy bear was something she shouldn't take to a gala.
“Cool," said Edith, impressed by the old woman.
“Thank you very much, ma'am," said Margo. “Excuse me, you're one of the runners, right?”
“Mamá Lobo at your service, my beautiful girls," said the old woman as she drove to an elegant caravan.
“Mrs. Mama Lobo, was it wrong of me to bring my unicorn?”
“My beloved child, you have done nothing wrong. If anyone should feel intimidated, it would be me, look at me, I come to a gala party with a mask for a costume gala.”
“Why don't you take off your mask?” Margo asked.
“My pretty girl, a lady sometimes wants to keep her privacy safe.”
The girls looked at Mama Lobo in amazement and with the same adoration as they did with Penelope Pitstop.
"Now, sweetheart, show me that lovely unicorn of yours, did your mother give it to you?”
“No, it was my dad Gru, he won it for me in Funland.”
“Oh, he must be a remarkable dad. Could you girls introduce me to him?”
“Of course, he's over there talking to Rex, Speed Racer's older brother... or again scolding Kevin," said Edith, pointing in a direction of the large room.
“Kevin?”
“Yes, he is the leader of the minion team," Margo explained, "they work for Gru, but now they are competing against him.”
“Oh yes, the minions... curious characters. Fu, fu, fu, this will be a very... elegant evening.”
The girls carried Mama Lobo to Gru's, while cold flashes reflected from the blood red mask.
CONTINUARÁ...
