“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING, BARGING IN ON MY LIFE LIKE THIS?” Infinity was screaming, loud enough that every single head in the decked-out yard turned to the commotion. Cameo gritted his teeth and resisted the urge to cover his ears and curl up into a ball until it was all over. He didn’t even see the slap until it had connected with his cheek. He gasped as the sharp pain assaulted his nerves. Forget all the fighting tactics he had taught everybody in Canada. There was nothing more effective than a barehanded slap.
“Can we talk about this somewhere else?” he hissed, grabbing her elbow and steering her toward a far corner of the yard, Infinity spouting Russian profanity all the way.
“Who do you think you are?” she whispered darkly.
“Cameo Zachary Hunt. And you?”
“You little piece of-”
“Save the ceremony, Sweetheart. I have to tell you something.” He glanced back at the three behind him. Ethaniel gave him a thumbs up. Tanner rolled his eyes.
“Jaiden’s back.”
Infinity’s jaw snapped shut. “Dear God, help us,” she whispered. “Are you serious?”
Cameo nodded slowly. “I don’t know how to stop him. He’s gone into hiding. No one else knows that he’s still out there.”
“And them?” Infinity asked, pointing to the rest of their former squad.
“We’ve been returning kids to their homes recently,” Cameo said evasively.
Infinity rubbed her temples. “I don’t know what to do.”
“We have evidence that he’s still after you.”
She sighed and straightened her spine. “Okay guys!” she yelled to the crowd of people. “The party is continuing at Aaron’s house in ten minutes! Be there or be square!” Aaron’s head jerked up, but if he was going to object, his words were lost in the rush of yelling teenagers and honking horns. He was caught in the current, and as the last teenager found their way out of the yard, Infinity slammed the gate shut and slid the bolt into place.
“Give them, like, five minutes, then they’ll be out of here.” She sighed. “In the meantime, you’re sure Jaiden’s back?” She addressed her words, not to Cameo, but to Harley, Ethaniel, and Tanner.
The three of them nodded. “Rumors are, he’s severely burned. His skin is melted and practically missing in some places,” Ethaniel added
Infinity paled slightly at these gruesome details, knowing she was part of the team that did that to him. “Well, let’s get this party started,” she smirked. She pulled a ring of keys out of her pocket. “I got my license, and the best part about being famous? Insane discounts on cool cars.”
“Ooh! What car’d you get?” Tanner spoke up for the first time.
“Dodge Challenger. Harley, you're up front with me. Come on, boys,” she exclaimed, pointedly ignoring Cameo. “We’ll be riding in style. "296Please respect copyright.PENANAHZNDLIK8ZN
