It was winter of 2020, and the riots were in full swing. And I was in the midst of a riot, I knew people weren't gonna give a shit if I died in the riot. Even if Mom and Dad were. I was there for one reason. To find her. To find my lover. But I was blind to the fact I was walking into a full on warzone.
People were throwing bricks at an old Mall's window.. This was me and Saki's meeting place, where we went on our first date. Call me retro. But I couldn't afford a nice dinner. So I decided on taking her to a mall.
"Leave this place at once. Or face the wrath of those you have sworn to defeat!" I said, and people looked at me. And they laughed. And eventually, someone pulled a gun, and shot me. Three times in the chest.. I had on a heavy jacket, but the bullets still dug through it. And I was dying..
I ran into the mall, and I tore off my winter coat, and I was bleeding. Bleeding violently. I felt cold, And I felt sick, and hungry.. I walked down the empty hallways, covid had this place shut down.. But there were still employees, due to the easing restrictions.. But they didn't look at me, they didn't bother to say anything.
I limped over to a shoe store, and I sat down on a bench. That's where I had my only kiss, and I sat there, bleeding profusely.
I could hear the rioters outside..
"God... please make them stop.. I can't take it anymore, this is torture.. kill me... KILL ME! MAKE IT END!" I yelled. Then a security guard looked at me. "You okay kid?" He asked, trying to be nice. Even though my blood was staining the white bench."Can I get you some medical attention?"
I shook my head. "I'm just hungry... can I pay you to go down to Annie's and one of them slushie places? If I die here, I want to die remembering the one person I hoped to see here."
The security guard nodded as I handed him a few bloody dollars. "She liked the cola flavor of Icee.." I said quietly. The guard nodded and he walked away. And I was left alone, god, I was dying slowly.. It was tantalizing, like someone was fucking with me. Like God was trying to play a prank on me.
A few minutes later, and the guard returned.
"Thanks sir." I smiled. He looked at me, and he smiled back."What was her name? Maybe I can give her something of yours."
I took a drink of the Icee. "Her name was Saki, Saki Yoshida... give her this." I handed the guard a Beanie baby of a Mountain Lion.
"thank you"
I took my last breath.. And I died.
