I fucked up.
My body was so tense it ached through my muscles.
I sat in the car, waiting for Carter to finish with the groceries a few blocks down so we could get back. The car rumbled as the air con swirled through it beneath the shade pressed over the front window to block the view.
I was so embarrassed at how I had let myself act in the heat of the moment.
I had let Carter own me in ways I had never let Silas.
I wanted to overpower him and make him submit, but I had let him twist it on me.
He wasn't going to think like Silas. Carter wasn't one who could be broken like he could.
He was afraid of being eaten alive by my children. His old mate still lingered in his broken heart. He acted tougher than he was.
But, he enjoyed having someone powerful over him. He liked it when I threatened him and forced myself into him over and over.
He made noises I hadn't ever heard from him. Begged me in ways I gave over to so easily.
What kind of person was he? Who the hell was I to be like that with a human I hated?
Even though I had swam in utter lust, there were no feelings between us. It was a desperate fuck that I didn't want to stop.
Now, I wanted to melt into the seats and disappear.
Tomorrow, Quinton. Then it'd all be over.
The car door opened and Carter dumped in the bags onto the ground in the back seat.
"Careful!" I warned him when he rearranged them below my threaded chances.
"I've got it" he scoffed back "you'll owe me for new seats too. Do webs come out of leather?"
"Leather?" I let out a sharp laugh at him "this is fake and you know it. I'm not paying you more than it's worth."
Carter grinned up at me slyly.
"You make me sound like a cheap hooker."
He slammed the door shut and made my blood burn as he climbed back into the driver's seat to grab at the shield.
"You aren't saying anything about what happened to anyone" I hissed to him "I mean it."
"I'm not some douchebag bragger" he rolled his eyes down and ripped off the cheap foil to hand to me "besides, who is going to be impressed when I tell them I fucked a spider demon? Hmm?"
I kept quiet, scowling.
"It'll be fine" he grumbled, pulling the car into drive "not like I enjoyed it or anything."
He was so sour about it. I knew he had hoped for it when I made the first move. He gave himself up so eagerly and desperately.
I had too. Even my own mate hadn't made me act that desperately when we were young and ravenous.
"I'd do it again."
Carter looked to me in surprise and scoffed.
"Yeah, right."
"Honestly" I insisted "I.... liked it."
Carter turned away and focused on the road. I saw his cheeks flush. I could feel mine burning too.
"It doesn't mean anything" I reminded him "I'm leaving. You aren't coming with me."
"And give up the luxuries I have for the woods?" Carter laughed out, shaking his head "you didn't fuck me into something delusional, Quin. I like my console, warm bed, and real food too much to do that."
I smirked, agreeing.
"The offer is still there if you need a lift" he continued "I'm more than happy to do that for you, for a price."
I saw his sly smile and snorted at it.
"I thought you weren't delusional?"
"One can dream" he shrugged back, chuckling.
He really knew how to push his boundaries.
If I didn't have to worry about everyone else, I would have set him in his place right here.
My stomach jolted at the thought, threatening to creep further down. I pushed the idea aside.
I just needed to get home so I could take out my frustrations on Silas.

With Silas gripped in my hands, I pumped every dirty thought I had about Carter into him.
I thrust into him while muffling his noises dripping over my hand.
He took my power so willingly and eagerly. He didn't fight me as we fucked. He'd been waiting eagerly for me to return and give him what he wanted.
It'd be the last time I did it too. After today, Silas and Carter were dead to me.
I was being forceful, but he liked it. He moaned every time I slowly thrust into him like I had with Carter, gasped with my hands supporting around my precious babies as I drilled into him from behind; quivered when I planted his arse on my throbbing cock that shook his whole body when I pinned him in my arms like how I had with Carter before I fucked him around the house.
While Carter was setting up the food and snacks, I was threading Silas with waves of cum. The children were too distracted by food and games to come knocking on the only door keeping us separated.
"I want you to think about this when you are sitting out there" I breathed to Silas gasping when my body tightened for another powerful release "I want you to be wet for me, Silas."
He groaned and clutched onto my shoulders.
I kept him planted and pushed down on him as I inched closer.
My legs burned. My fingers squeezed and tore into his soft skin.
All I could think about was bending Carter over and fucking him on the bench out there while Silas watched in jealousy.
They'd yearn for me and I'd be the only one to sate them. They wouldn't need each other, only me.
"Fuck" I hissed.
Stabbing into Silas, I came again. I spilled down my body as I kept going in frustrated bliss seizing up my muscles.
He trembled and faltered on his grip around me. I threw his arms over my shoulders as I thrust through him with such power his body couldn't deny me.
Another one was building already.
I kept my hand clamped over Silas' mouth when I laid on the bed and kept him curled against me.
His eyes rolled and fluttered when I tensed at the ripping explosion throbbing up my spilling cock.
"Oh, fuck!"
I shot through him again, forcing my cum deeper into Silas with each slow thrust I strained out of my frozen muscles fighting for control again.
Gasping, I slipped from him and let him dribble over me.
Silas couldn't speak or move. I'd held him captive for more than what was necessary.
Brushing his slicked hair out of his face, I ran my hand over his clammy back.
"Carter can't do that" I grinned.
I knew he couldn't. Silas would never be truly satisfied by another human once I was gone.
I wasn't taking him back. He couldn't be trusted after what he had said and done. I was going to use him as my thing to fuck until I didn't need him anymore.
Tomorrow.
I smiled to the roof and kept rubbing slowly.
It was so close. My family would be safe.
"You need to clean up and join us out there" I whispered to Silas.
He grumbled up at me, making my hand stop on his back.
"Can't I just sleep?" he begged "I'm so tired."
I resumed the circles over him and patted his arse to make him move his legs from around me.
"Shower, then have something to eat. You need to keep your strength up."
I wasn't going to let him neglect my babies. They had waited long enough to be free of his body. It had to be prepared properly for their arrival.
He moaned out an agreement and let me lay him on his side while I picked out some of Carter's clothes for him to wear.
The scent of the firewood and oil was nice in here. It'd be better tangled with Silas' and my own.
My cock flexed. I moved from the cupboard quickly and threw them on the bed beside him so I could leave the room.
Carter poked his head from the couch to huff at me.
"Are you joining us or not?"
"I'm going to shower first" I jerked a thumb to the door.
I saw Astrid lean over the back of the couch. Her face was scrunched in disgust.
"Gross, Dad."
I smiled at her and left to drown myself in soap that smelled like oatmeal, and hair wash that was coloured like tar.
I didn't even smell like myself anymore. I smelled like him.

Yanking open the small window to let the steam billow outwards, I paused.
Lifting my arm up beside it, I measured it against my forearm. The tracks ran from my elbow to my wrist when the window was carefully closed.
Dipping a finger into it, I felt that it was as thick as the one wedged in there.
Perfect.
Throwing my clothes on, I rushed out to pound on Silas' door and hurry into the lounge room where my children watched Carter from behind the couch.
"Kids, come."
Astrid left the couch to rush to me instantly. I grinned at her and took her hand in mine.
"But, I want to...." Avery started to complain until I glared at him.
Ethel nudged him with her elbow as she passed him and stood beside me.
"Whose going to help me take her down then?" Carter complained now with a hand up at the TV.
"Silas will be here" I pointed my head to the door "we will be getting wood for a fire."
"We are?" Ethel muttered to me.
I nodded, staring to keep her mouth shut.
"Stay close" I pulled my children to me when I headed for the door and let them pass first.

"Why do you want us all to help?" Astrid piped up in confusion "Dad isn't going to do anything. He was really nice."
I ushered them all out the gate and headed for the trees with them following obediently.
"He isn't your father anymore" I grumbled back and halted to face them "I need sticks about this long and thick."
I held out my arm and then showed them my finger.
"Why?" Avery frowned back.
"We're leaving tomorrow. I need to make sure we'll be safe when we do. I can't have humans following us to our new home."
"We'll make a spike pit?" Avery mumbled, still confused.
I chuckled, pushing him gently for the trees.
"Just go and get some sticks. I need about ten of them."
My girls scattered too, Ethel pausing near me.
"You're really going to do that?" she whispered to me.
I sighed, approaching her to pick up a branch I inspected.
"I'll do anything to keep you all safe. I can't lose any more of you."
Her eyes glistened as she inspected the stick she held.
"Is this good enough?" she whimpered, wiping her tears.
I held out my arm and it jutted out only a few centimeters further.
"I'll fix it" I forced a smile to her.
She did the same, dropping her eyes down.
"I don't want to do this" she muttered when her fingers pressed to mine as she handed the stick over.
"Baby" I ran a hand over her cheek "you won't have to. I'll sort out all the adult stuff, ok?"
She nodded, wiping her eyes and turning away when Avery came bounding into view with a massive branch he dragged.
"Dad! I got them all!" he laughed as he dropped it down at my feet "look!"
He snapped off one segment and held it up against my arm.
"It's a bit long, but you can fix it" he grinned.
He eagerly snapped off several more at varying lengths to measure them. Some were far too thick or thin and had to be tossed aside.
From his big branch, we got about four usable ones.
Five, counting Ethel's I held.
"Where's Astrid?" I looked around in worry.
Avery jerked a thumb behind him.
"Climbing a tree to get the perfect one" he rolled his eyes.
Panic jolted through me and came out as a yell for my unseen daughter.
"I'm fine!" her little voice sailed back to me "I got it!"
I heard branches breaking and something solid hitting the ground before she came over, swatting the leaves from her clothes.
"Got it!" she held it up proudly.
She had a scratch across her face, and a thin line of blood running down her arm.
I could see her stick was too thin before she even handed it to me.
I smiled at it and added it to my pile.
I couldn't hurt her feelings like that, after the hassle she had gone to just to get one she thought was right.
I'll throw it when she's not looking.

"Where are we making the pit?" Avery piped up as he searched nearby "will it be like a moat around the house? Oh! Are we making a moat?"
I snorted at his excitement and came over to place a hand on his shoulder.
"Have you been playing too many games?" I shook my head at him.
His eyes trailed up with a grin.
I dropped down to my knee and got him to look at me.
"These are very important, but they aren't for fun. When those humans give us our family, we will go and find a new home where it's just us four. It might be rough for a while, but I will make sure all of you are safe and looked after."
"With you?"
"Of course" I gripped him "why wouldn't it be?"
He dropped his head and pushed the leaves with the stick he held.
"Dad said that he wished he could stay with us."
I didn't try to fight the anger that screwed up my face.
"But I know he's not Dad anymore" Avery blurted quickly and groaned "it just feels weird calling him Silas."
"It'll be fine" I lifted his head up and saw he was also close to tears "hey, we'll have our own adventures, ok? We can try and find that bear you wanted."
"Yeah?" he sniffled and grinned.
"Although, I like the witchety grubs better" I winked.
Avery shoved me and giggled, coming over to hug me.
"You're such a strong boy" I rested my head against him "things are going to be confusing and scary, but I'm here for you."
Avery nodded, savouring the hug.
He felt so warm against me. His body was so small in my arms. I could feel his bones with every little movement.
Was he always this fragile?
I rose and rubbed his head to make him laugh out at me before clapping my hands together to get everyone's attention.
"The winner of whoever brings the perfect stick gets to play the spider game AND gets first choice of where we stay for tomorrow night."
"Anywhere?" Astrid breathed.
Ethel perked up too.
"Nowhere we've been before" I added to fallen faces.
They weren't going back to the dangers of home that quickly.
"A waterfall!" Avery gasped "then we can all go swimming! You like swimming, Astrid!"
She grumbled but had a smile on her face.
"You like drowning, Ethel!" he teased.
Ethel blushed when her face caught mine, huffing at Avery.
She didn't know how to swim?
"You'll be drowning more when I get you!" she roared and raced over to try and grab the squealing Avery as he darted away.
I heard them crashing through the trees, Avery squealing for help when Ethel bought him to the ground.
"He's drowning first!" she called out somewhere in the distance "I got him! I'm holding him down!"
"Nuh, uh!" his voice gargled on leaves "argh! Someone help me!"
"I'll save you!" Astrid giggled and went running off to their laughing voices.
I smiled after them, a little nervous I couldn't see any of them anymore.
They were having fun. Our hunt wasn't making them anxious anymore. They made a silly game of it.
This was good. I could disguise this as a lesson for them.

"Oh no!" I gasped loudly as I picked my way through the leaves "the shark is coming!"
"The shark?" Astrid laughed.
"It's going to eat up all of you!" I growled and snapped the air. I heard them all giggle as their feet kicked up the leaf litter and gave away their positions while they scattered.
"The shark is hungry!" I sang as I hunted for them "it smells food!"
I heard snorts that I whipped towards dramatically.
The boiling scent of blood flitted through the air.
"I smell fresh blood!" I roared and charged for the tree Astrid came squealing from behind, trying to fight the deep leaves to find a new hideaway.
"Run!" she laughed.
Avery burst from a tree she approached and promptly fell down before scrambling up to scurry behind one in plain sight.
The leaves were so deep here. I trudged through the path piled up my legs.
"The shark needs food!"
More giggles, further away.
I kept my eyes on the tree Avery had run for, grinning to myself as I approached.
"I smell.... BLOOD!"
I leapt out with my arms ready to catch my son that wasn't there.
I hadn't seen him run away. Where was he?
Looking around, I saw Ethel poke her head out a few meters away and retract with a snort when I saw her.
Where was Avery?
The leaves burst upwards and Avery screamed out, grabbing onto my legs tightly so he could bite them.
"I got the shark!" he cried out in laughter "I got it!"
"And it got you!" I reached down to snatch him up and bring his belly to my mouth I blew over the exposed skin. He squealed and thrashed as I raised him high.
"The shark claims it's first victim!"
I nibbled Avery's skin gently to make him laugh out.
Tucking him under my arm, I turned for the tree I knew Ethel was behind.
"Now for my next feast!"
"Watch out!" Avery called to them.
I stomped towards the tree before deciding to become more stealthy and quietening to a creep.
Avery looked up at me and grinned, keeping his mouth shut.
I pulled out my arms, raising them up so they wouldn't be so obvious from the side.
Using one to dig under the leaves, I deliberately swiped them up to gain her attention.
While she was distracted, I snapped my hands down from above to trap her.
"That's cheating!" she cried out when I bundled her under my arm with a cheeky bounce.
"The shark doesn't play fair, my dear."
I tickled her sides to hear her laughter.
"Now, we hunt for the last one" I smiled as I scanned the quiet area.

I pushed my arms under the leaves to search as they branched out. If she was hiding nearby, I'd feel it.
I couldn't pick up on her blood either. As someone trickling obvious clues, she should be leaving a trail in the air heading straight for her.
"Astrid is smart" Ethel grinned "you'll never find her."
I heard the leaves rustle a few metres to my right that I smirked at.
"You were saying?"
"Astrid! Look out!" Avery yelled out before I clamped his mouth shut.
I did the same for Ethel who tried to lick her way free with giggles.
Carefully, I surrounded the tree the leaves had danced around. My arms formed a cage beneath the leaves that were waiting to trap her if she escaped.
I could feel my heart hammering as I approached, silently hoping she wouldn't give herself away that easily.
They had been caught far too easily.
"Got you!" I pounced around the corner to see nothing there.
She wasn't under the leaves?
Swatting them aside, I swept the ground around me wildly.
"Do I win, Dad?" I heard a voice pipe up.
Turning, I still couldn't see her.
Moving my whole head, Astrid grinned from my blind side.
Her skin was smothered in dirt. She had packed her wound with what looked like clumps of spit mixed into the mess to create mud that blocked the scent.
She dangled her legs from the tree she sat up in, victorious.
"I got the perfect stick" she held it up "I win by default."
Cheeky girl. I grinned at how cunning she had been.
Astrid slid down and held out the stick towards me so she could measure it.
Look at that. Slightly too long, but the perfect width.
"Have you thought about where you want to go?" I sighed as I admitted defeat and promptly dropped the other two into the leaves.
"I don't know about that" she thought "but I want to play this spider game again. Make it harder."
Harder? So, she had picked up that I was holding back.
Were they better than I realised?
"Let's go super hard!" Avery cheered when he got to his feet.
"You were the first one I caught!" I scoffed back to him.
"No rules" Astrid grinned "anything goes."
"I like that" Ethel agreed.
I didn't.
"Only rule is you can't leave your Skins" I replied sternly "and you can't leave the area. No wandering off or you are disqualified."
If I could keep them looking human until our travels, things would be fine.
If any humans came snooping, they'd be thrown off the trail by seemingly ordinary children.
I couldn't have a repeat of what happened to poor Maisie.
"Sound good" Avery nodded.
The girls nodded and waited for me.
"Let's do it" I smiled, turning so my children could scamper away with laughter.
Staying out a little longer wouldn't hurt. Everyone was having fun, and I was getting in some quality time I hadn't given them in so long.
Carter and Silas would be fine without us.
Astrid was declared the winner, yet again.
She was glowing of her success in beating me when I tucked her into bed that night and kissed her forehead.
Even with my traps of woven webs and hidden arms, she outsmarted me by using my blind side to her advantage. She still masked her scents and threw me in the wrong directions so she could have enough time to creep up and jump on my back.
If she was in her natural form, I would have no doubts she'd be even quicker than today.
"You did amazingly" I whispered to her "I'm so proud of you."
She swelled with pride and snuggled under the covers I pulled up.
"Have you thought about where you want us to go?"
She shook her head again.
"Dream about it" I smoothed down her hair "and then tell me all about it in the morning."
"OK, Dad."
"Good girl" I beamed and kissed her again before moving to Ethel in the middle.
"Have sweet dreams, little one. Think of all the ways you can beat me next time."
"I will" she yawned "I'll win too."
She had been so close. Dodging my webs and deliberately plucking them to confuse me, she really was turning into someone who I knew could easily defend her own family someday.
I smiled to Avery who reached up for a hug.
He was such a clever boy. He used his surroundings to disguise himself so he could stay hidden for longer. By blending with the leaves and twigs, he avoided me completely in our games together.
He almost beat Astrid, if it wasn't for his disguise of mud and twigs collapsing and giving away his position.
They had all done so well. A valuable lesson was taught, and I got my ten sticks I had whittled into perfect rods that leaned against the door outside.
"Tomorrow will be a big day" I told them all in hushed tones "we need to travel light. You can bring your most favourite thing, but that's it. I'll allow two if they don't get in the way."
"Only two?" Avery groaned.
"We will be without Skins for a while" I ran a hand over the side of his face I caressed at the jaw "we can't take everything."
I saw the disappointment and smiled apologetically at it.
"Get your sleep" I leant over to kiss every child peering up at me "I'll come to make sure you are all comfortable soon."
"Don't be too long" Astrid worried as I left the bed.
"I won't be" I turned off the light and hovered at the door to admire the eyes glimpsing back at me "I'll be back soon."
Making sure the bedroom was closed, I crept back down the hall and for the sticks outside.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAVU7iISRjFg
Carter and Silas were forced to sleep on the couch that folded down to fit them both.
I saw Carter had preferred the floor so that Silas could stretch out with both bulging mounds still intact.
They had made it this far. I was impressed that both humans had withstood it all to get to the end.
I could see it all now. It was going to be glorious when my babies spilled from them both.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAn0Rs5K7NLR
Gathering up the sticks, I carefully leant one against the back door.
The other was slid into the track of the window by the front door.
I stopped there, sliding over to where Carter kept his keys on the kitchen bench to quickly pocket them.
I dropped another stick in the kitchen window while I lingered. More slipped perfectly in place along the lounge room, bathroom, and the bedroom.
All nine sticks nestled in position. I only needed to replace the last one tomorrow to make it complete.
Everything was ready.
Giving it all one last look, I returned to the bedroom, satisfied at my work.
172Please respect copyright.PENANACwuHJavSsQ
I crawled up the bed and wedged myself in the middle so I could wrap my arms around my children and pull them close.
Hands ran down Avery's and Astrid's heads on the outside while Ethel rested hers against my chest.
Even though everyone was asleep, I still watched the door like a hawk.
"I need you all to make sure you are ready to leave" I whispered to them as I stroked their hair "wear something you can tear easily. When we get up, you need to eat as much as you can for the trip. We will be travelling without Skins for a while, so I want to see you all full in the morning. You'll follow everything I say. It's dangerous out there and you need to stay close to me and do what I tell you to. I can't have anything happen while we are travelling with our new family."
I'd have to pile as many as I could on my back. Any that didn't fit would have to keep up or get left behind.
Whether they survived the journey would be another situation I didn't want to think about.
"What about the sticks?" Avery yawned.
"Don't you worry about them" I rubbed his back "I've already used them for what I needed them for."
Ethel grimaced into my skin. I moved from Astrid to give her a comforting squeeze.
"Now, we should get some sleep" I returned my hand to Astrid whose body felt like it was already sinking into sleep "it's going to be a big day for everyone."
"But, I'm not tired" Avery yawned again.
"Don't fight it" I rubbed his back "you'll need your energy."
He nodded, resting his head against me.
"I won't let anything happen to any of you" I told them all slowly slipping into sleep "I made sure of that."
Keeping my arms wrapped around them, my eyes didn't leave the door.
If I was going to keep them safe, I'd have to make sure everything ran as I planned, starting with tomorrow morning.
Watching my children nestle against me, I brimmed with hope that my outlook on our future away from humans was going to remain bright.
All I had to do was make sure the sticks worked first.
