Antonio’s POV
“Thank you, Papa”
I thanked my father before bidding him good day and went out of his office. To my horror, on my way back, I saw Rodrigo making his recruits watching each other to fix the ceiling.
‘What the hell is that terror doing?’
I think to myself looking at him folding his arms with a smirk. I can’t help wondering why he’s still in the FBI with his attitude.
“Hurry up you spic! Don’t come waste my time!” He then tells the girl whose up next climbing the ladder with the screw as he looks at his watch.
I soon saw him kicking the ladder on purpose, causing the girl to fall. I quickly ran towards the falling girl and grab her before she could fall any further.
“OH MY GOSH!!”
She shouted in shock the moment I grab her from landing from the floor, thinking she has got a big fall.
“It’s not even a fall, don’t be ridiculous you spic!”
Rodrigo tells her off and as I am unable to stand his years of tyranny, I immediately put the recruit down before walking towards him.
“What do you want now, Prince?!”
Rodrigo asks me sarcastically as I stood in front of him folding my arms.
“Don’t EVER think I’m blind to see that you’re just being a douche, picking on a young helpless girl because of her ethnicity!” I tell him off not impressed.
“She’s just being a whiner, she’s not EVEN a girl but a 22 YEAR OLD WOMAN!” Rodrigo tells me off.
“REGARDLESS of age and WHATEVER, YOU shouldn’t be bullying people even the people you called the SPICS!” I reminded him as I am at the verge of going physical with him.
“Yeah yeah whatever~”
Rodrigo tells me rudely as my brother Matteo soon walks over asking what’s going on.
I immediately pointed to Matteo the metal stairs, the frightened recruit and the line of recruits standing there.
Matteo has no tolerance for things like that so he went off before anybody can even start.
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME, DEPUTY CHIEF HAN?! IS THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT DEAD TO YOU?!”
He shouts at the top of his voice to Rodrigo. That terror immediately become like a coward shaking his head, keeping his mouth shut.
“ALL OF YOU THERE CAN GO HOME FOR THE DAY!”
Matteo tells the rest of the recruits loudly. “THANK YOU SIR!” They thanked him in unison before leaving for the day.
“AND YOU! TAKE THE LADDER AND GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!”
Matteo soon shouts to Rodrigo and that terror instantly leaves with the ladder, as timid as a mouse.
His tone to me was soon not that angry. After all, I’m his brother, he dares not try being mad at me unless he has a death wish of course.
“Tony, just take the girl to your office and get somebody from the medical department over.”
He soon tells me about the recruit. “I will Matt” I reassured him before he leaves and I walked towards the recruit who has just calmed down.
She looks quite familiar for some reason but I can’t get a finger or two into why. I feel bad seeing the way she got treated by Rodrigo because she’s Puerto Rican.
“I am Deputy Officer Antonio Montessori from the Weaponry Department.” I introduced myself to her. “Good afternoon, Sir” She bows back a little greeting me.
“I will take you back to my office and get a medical officer over to check on you.” I then said to her. “Will that be okay?” I then softly ask her
“T-Thank you” She nods her head thanking me before I help her up and take her to my office so I can help her get somebody from the medical department over.
-10 Minutes Later-
“May I have your name Miss?”
Nurse Leon asks the recruit as she is checking over. “P-Padilla…L-Laura…M-Mam…” She introduces herself to the nurse with a stutter.
“First name Laura, Last Name Padilla. Okay.” Nurse Leon notes down on the form as I leave them both to go outside in case of any intimate checks.
Matteo soon comes over again. “How’s the recruit?” He soon asks me as I close the door. “Leon is checking her over.” I tell him.
“Good. I have reported the douche Henry Tudor to Papa. Hopefully he is off here for good this time.” He then tells me.
“I hope so too.” I said as Matteo leaves and I wait for Nurse Leon’s conclusion about the recruit.
A flashback of my time in middle school soon comes into my mind suddenly.
I was in 8th grade back then, trying to defend myself from a bunch of bullies that are bigger than me until this small boisterous girl stops them.
~FLASHBACK~
“Mind your business, you mini paddy 5th grader! Get lost!”
“Not until you leave him alone first. It’s wrong bullying people!”
“Go away paddy before you become a puddle!”
~•••~
Paddy was a degrading word in the school to describe those the heirs or associates of the Padilla Tea Company who study there.
‘She can’t be the girl can she?’
I think to myself remembering I didn’t ask the girl for her name. I have a strong feeling seeing the recruit that she could be her.
‘If the girl is her, I will had to find a way regardless to get her out of Rodrigo’s wing.’ I think to myself looking at the door of my office do the recruit still getting checked over.
-The Next Day-
Keona’s POV
“Oh! There’s such a thing?”
I asked Felicita when she told me about the day before, Rodrigo bullying the recruits before the official day and Antonio standing up for one of the recruits he’s bullying cause of her ethnicity
She nods her head, confirming the rumours I’ve heard at the counter in the morning.
“He’s ridiculous. Hope the Chief do something about him.” I said sighing about what happened.
“I thought the States usually is multiracial…didn’t know there’s such racism too…” Lupin scratches her head confused.
“There’s more than meets the eye.” Felicita tells Lupin as she continues filling me in on the gossip.
“Oh really? Diane Jane Raussen’s background is also quite extraordinary.” I was a little shocked when she tells me about the background of another recruit, Diane Jane Raussen
I then remember meeting this recruit some time ago when I was just newly promoted to be the Deputy Chief
~FLASHBACK~
“Thank you very much, Mam”
“Not to worry young lady.”
“And before I go, what is your name?”
“Raussen, Diane Jane.”
“I’m 20 this year.”
“Interesting and very lady-like name. See you around, Miss Raussen.”
~•••~
“Her father was a Retired Army officer while her mother was a US navy nurse,” She then adds on.
“But her brothers are surely a bunch of good of nothings” I said as she tells me beforehand that one of her brothers is violent enough to hit his own mother recently.
“Not sure about the other but nobody seems to be able to control the brothers.” She continues.
“Does Lockett even know then Feli?” I then asked Felicita remembering that Diane Jane’s under Marie Joan.
She shrugs her shoulders whilst having a feeling Marie Joan has no clue of who her own recruits really are.
The door soon knocks and it was John at the door. I was shocked by his arrival as I have a quick peep at my clock.
8 is the official time and he’s already here by 6.30…Impressive isn’t it?
“Good morning, Madams”
