She had a mind of a child, but she was 36.
She dug a hole under the fence, which kept her safe from the world and the world from her.
She wandered off into the woods behind the asylum.
She knew no one would miss her.
She walked and walked until she disappeared into the horizon and no one noticed.
With hundreds like her, who would miss one?
Hours turned into days then into weeks.
They noticed Lavinia was gone.
Many patients and understaffed.
It took months, but she was found dead, in was early fall.
October was soon at the door and she lay motionless and still.
Her eyes open, looking skyward.
Laying in a straightened pose, The staff walked up to her corpse and looked in horror, poor Lavinia had a head full of ants coming in and out of her head.
Poor Lavinia, everyone said.
The poor thing is dead with a head full of ants.
Not a stone was erected for Lavina, just another hole in the ground, where she used to call home.
Not a prayer or funeral is done, just another crazy lady forgotten and dead.
