i remember

when we thought we were meant to be,

meant to be together forever

soulmates even,

but something happened

so our feelings blackened,

we’d always say

‘in another life’

but you didn’t mean that,

did you?

not the way i did,

maybe you just hid

behind your true feelings

i just wish i knew what you truly wanted,

like how you truly wanted to know mine not long before,

but one day,

we had another chance

forget all that ‘another life’ delusions

i started to look at you how i used to

and i fell in love,

more in love than ever before

i’m not sure if you did though, not like before

that’s clear for me to see now,

but i knew more than you think

you were saying ‘in another life’

to another girl this time,

so one day

it clicked.

we weren’t gonna work out anymore.

i guess we weren’t meant to be,

after all.
