After taking Lily on a short tour along the academy: the main yard, the park/garden behind it with it's adorable old shed, the different buildings around the grounds that she didn't talk about that much and remained a mystery to Lily; Tarutaru took her to visit the teachers. They didn't get much of an explanation about why Lily was assigned to 2nd Grade. All they said was they referenced "earlier knowledge," current student limits and some mysterious filing system.
As they were walking away from the teachers' lounge, with Lily eyeing everything around her, and Tarutaru walking beside her, smiling at her, she cocked her head.
"Say, Lily, they said you had prior training, but you said you haven't been in schools…?" Tarutaru said, as she stopped and leaned on a railing. Lily stopped, looked out from the window and to the backyard and the park there.
"Yeah, well, I didn't attend any school, but my aunt has taught me the last few years. Nothing any specifics, just the basics and stuff. If you ask me, nothing at all," Lily said and sounded rather disappointed. "She's a very talented mage herself, but she wouldn't teach me anything fancy."
"Ah, alright," Tarutaru says and looks at the clock on the wall. "Oh well, hey, it was nice to meet you, but I need to go to a lesson. We'll see each other tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah! Definitely! Looking forward to being a student here!" Lily says excited.
Tarutaru turns to leave, but stops and spins back. "Where are you staying, by the way? The dorms?" She asks.
Lily nods at her. "Yeah. The dorms. I actually should be on my way there pretty soon… See you tomorrow, Grass Patch!"
Tarutaru waves at her and walks away. For a couple of minutes, Lily keeps looking outside and basking in the feeling of starting her school here. Then she heads out and towards the dorms.
The dorms are located only a few minutes away from the school main gate, and Lily arrives there relatively quickly. She looks around and finds the supervisor’s office relatively easy and knocks on the door.
A young woman, two or tree years her senior, takes her information and shows Lily to her new room. Lily’s positively surprised that she’s getting a single room and won’t have to share.
The room is simple, but slightly bigger than she expected. There’s a comfy armchair, a couch, a small table, a surprisingly wide — but still single — bed, and a separate small area for kitchen.
The room is on the third floor and looks toward the school grounds. Lily looks out the window and smiles. She can see the school’s beautiful park from there. Lily leans on the windowsill, tilts her head sideways and closes her eyes.
So, this is how it feels to start your new life, she thinks.
