Eryth used his Rune act to control the sand around and cover the last of the dead body they had buried.
The emerald green haired girl, Arya got up on her feet and sighed. "This is madness," she muttered.
The dark brown-haired man had no expression on his face as he looked around the place. He had searched the whole area and Danila used her Telepathy to also try to look for any sign but they couldn't find Syrie anywhere. They saw and buried the bodies of everyone that was in the camp but not that of the arctic blue-haired woman.
"We have to stop this madness before he breaks the entire realm," she added.
"How do we find him?" Blutox queried.
"I could help you with some information."
They all veered around to see Nkati standing with a pot in her hand. She dropped the pot on the ground and pulled it open, letting the aroma fill the entire place. "I thought maybe you'd desire some replenishment before you continue your journey."
"Thank you," the blue-skinned man nodded.
"What information do you have?" Arya questioned.
The mountain Kanrei sat on a boulder before speaking. "A few days ago, a spy whom we had sent outside of the village returned," she started. "He claimed to have travelled far across the Kingdom of Ashenmoor where he saw an army of the undead marching through a valley. If anything, I'm sure you would find one of Hex's generals with them."
The dark brown-haired man sighed and turned his heels and walked away from the room.
"Did I say anything wrong?" Nkati asked.
"No, it's not you… it's fine, I'll talk to him." Danila got up and followed after the Dark mage.
She finally caught up to Eryth standing by the mouth of a lake. The dark brown-haired man picked up a stone and tossed it into the river.
"Are you okay?" She questioned while moving to stand by his side.
"It's my fault that they all died," he muttered.
"No, it's not, we all had no idea they'd be coming here, they caught us all by surprise."
The dark brown-haired man turned to face the Fairy. "Remember what Grevla said back before we left the old man's town? 'Choas, is drawn to chaos'," he stated. "You and I both know that I have more Chaos energy than pure, it has to be how they find this place."
Danila pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "Maybe it is, maybe you are the reason Hex's people found this place and killed all those innocent people."
The dark brown-haired man turned to look at her. "Wow, that's not very comforting," he said while placing his palm on his chest.
"I know, it's why I said it."
Eryth turned back to the lake. "But really though, these people might still have their life if I hadn't been at their camp."
"And worrying about it won't change anything," she said. "The only thing left to do is to avenge their death… so we hunt down Hex."
Eryth let out a soft chuckle. "You make it sound so easy."
"That's because it is… the bastard is a human, and that means he is killable, and like his general, we are going to kill him."
The dark brown-haired man nodded in agreement. "Okay. Where do we start the hunt?"
****
"Are you sure we are on the right track?" Eryth asked while wiping a river of sweat from his face.
"Maybe if you shut the fuck up and not add to the heat I'm feeling right now I'd be able to think and figure it out," Arya yelled.
"Whoa whoa… I'm just going to take it that it's the heat speaking and not you."
"I'm sorry."
They were in the middle of a desert, dragging their foot on the sand while the sun burned their bodies.
"Eryth, look!" Danila called out. "it's that village we took shelter in on our way to the mountain Kanrei," she said while pointing at the village.
"Great, hope they still have that drink they served the other day."
Without any interruption from the others, the four made their way towards the village. Though he tried to hide it on the outside by keeping a small smile, Eryth was delighted to meet the people of the village again.
But the moment he walked into the village, his smile faded and his face was masked by confusion and shock as he gazed upon a horrifying sight. The village buildings had been burnt down to the ground and there were dead bodies both of what seemed to be knights and that of the villagers.
"What happened here?" Blutox pondered.
The dark brown-haired man moved from the crowd and curbed in front of a body he recognized to be the village Chief. He raised his head to see the lifeless body of the girl he had taught a little before leaving the village, Pelee.
Eryth shut his eyes and let out a deep breath before rising to his feet.
"Ashenmoor," Arya revealed.
She pointed at the insignia on the body of a dead knight.
"Ashenmoor?"
The emerald green-haired girl nodded. "It used to be a kingdom of farmers with very few knights to protect it," she said. "Before the kingdom my father was a knight at was destroyed by Hex, we used to help Ashenmoor with Knights that'll protect their farm."
"So what you are saying is they have to have been backed by someone," Blutox chipped
"Every kingdom is currently struggling to keep themselves safe, so it can't go past Hex," The emerald green-haired girl added.
Eryth groaned and veered around to face his partners. "That Green Kanrei girl said we'll have to go through Ashenmoor to get to the valley where the undead army was sighted, right?"
Danila replied with a nod.
The dark brown-haired man picked up a sword from the ground. A rune marking appeared around his wrist and the sword instantly turned a new. "Why don't we take a detour?"
