Luna went out to the range and found the only open dummy was the one next to Julio's. She growled, priming her kitchen knives anyway. A few people were pointing at her and snickering. She flushed red in anger. She primed the dummy at maximum fighting capabilities, and played with a knife. The dummy lunged and she flung herself at it, lodging knives in the skull, temple, lungs, windpipe, and privates. All the guys winced at that one, including Julio.
The dummy fell to the floor, and she looked around. "What, you act like you've never seen an assassin!" Luna laughed.
Jules clapped and cheered her on. "You go, girl! Let's work on your shooting!"
Luna removed the knives and reset the dummy, tossing her hair over her shoulder at Julio. "Catch you around," she smarmed.
Julio followed her and Jules around the entire time they were at the range. Luna thought it funny at first, but she started to get annoyed. And there was only so much annoyance she could take at once. Eventually she turned around and snapped, "Can I help you?"
Julio jumped. "Uh...yeah. Any chance you could tutor me on how to fight with knives?"
Luna blinked. "What?"
"You fight well. I want to learn from some of the best, and Assassin's Ed doesn't offer that. I'd be willing to pay!"
Luna remembered that tutoring could replace kills on her permit, if it was pro bono, and she shook her head. "No need. I'll do it for free."
Julio laughed. "Hey, thanks! Could Fridays at 5 work?"
Luna nodded. "I expect to see you here tomorrow at 5."
Julio saluted and nodded. "Yes ma'am!" and he was gone.
"Lucky," Jules sighed. "You can spend time with him."
"Oh, shut up, Jules! I'm tutoring him to replace kills on my permit."
"Isn't that...cold?" Jules asked.
Luna shrugged. "Who cares? It's not like I care for him at all."
Jules tutted. "I worry, you know. If he finds out, he may want to kill you."
Luna scoffed. "It will take more than one lovestruck boy to kill me," she laughed. "Come on, I saw some cool swords I wanna try."
Jules sighed, a bad feeling hitting the pit of her stomach. "Coming."
