Everyone gave me amazing gifts like Ruby giving me a cool new outfit and Cecile making the most delicious strawberry cake.Okay,maybe I did overreact about my birthday.After everyone gave me their gifts,we sat down in the living room with my parents.We chatted so much and talked about basically everything.Then,my mum said she had something for me.
"Meredith,come here please."my mum said in a gentle voice.
I put my cake I was still eating and walked over to her.I wanted to cry.But I didn't want to cry in front of her.She took something from her pocket and gave it to me.It was a beautiful medallion in the shape of a mirror but instead of glass there was a big gemstone.The gemstone was blue with some green marble look.I was stunned.The same color of my eyes.I touched the gemstone and it opened to reveal our entire family portrait.I carefully put it on.It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
"Just know that,we'll always love you,Meredith.Please don't ever forget that.",my mum said as my eyes filled with tears and streamed down my cheeks.
She hugged me tightly and everyone else joined in.We wanted to stay together a little longer but then we heard the clock chime for 11 o'clock.We all said goodnight to each other and headed upstairs to prep for bed.I headed to my room,changed into my PJs brushed my teeth and went to bed.As I lay in bed,I gently touch the medallion. I could feel something.Like it was keeping me safe.After a while, I slowly drift off into a deep sleep.
...The Next Morning...
Yet again I wake up to the sound of my beeping alarm clock.This time I got out of bed easily,brushed my teeth and changed out of my PJs.Today I have to head back to the academy so I thought I would put on something more cheerful.I wore a long black dress with dark blue ribbon wrapping around the waist and white lace at the bottom.
I walk to Blair's room to surprise her.I knocked once.Then,twice.Then,three times.This is unlike Blair.She always come to the door.I opened her door and she wasn't inside.Strange....It is only 7:30,Blair never wakes up this early.I head downstairs and find the most horrific scene ever.Two people dressed in all black were dragging my parents' dead bodies away.Before I could take another step,one of them point their hand towards me thrusting me onto a wall.
An air elemental,I though to myself.I was half knocked out by now.I tried to think of a way to stop them.If they killed my parents,they must have known who they were.They knew who I was.The girl with no powers.I was powerless to stop them.(No pun intended)But at that time,I was filled with so much anger.How could they kill my parents?Just one day after my birthday.I didn't know what else to do,so I thrust both my hands towards them.Flaming snakes came flying out and set the house on fire.They quickly ran away and I was left alone to die.I felt weak.I look down at my medallion thinking of my last moments.But the one question that remained in my mind,how did I do that?And then I just blacked out....
