Field Day ended last week so now it's back to going to classes everyday. Field Day was sorta fun. I got to hang out with Kim Lee and we both got to watch our crushes play sports. Kim Lee keeps telling me that I should confess to Yoon Yi about my feelings for him, but I don't think it's such a good idea. For one, Yoon Yi doesn't date and two, he doesn't like the idea of liking someone so what would make me special enough to make him like me when nobody else has ever caught his eye before? I guess it's just going to continue being a one sided crush like Kim Lee has.
Lunch time rolled around and I was starving. I got my tray of food and I was on my way to sit down at me and Kim Lee's usual table when a bunch of guys walked up to me and blocked my way from getting to the table. I sighed then looked them over.
"What do you guys want?" I asked.
"I don't like seeing you walk around like you own the school. You're only a first year." The leader said.
I narrowed my eyes at them. "And that's my problem because...?"
The leader smacked my tray from my hands and caused all the food on it to land on top of me. I stood there, shocked as I felt the gooey food splatter on my clean uniform and messed up my hair. Then the leader grabbed a cupcake and smashed it into my face, rubbing it all over. I watched as he smirked then walked away with his friends. My body felt so frozen that I couldn't move at all. Finally, I heard a group of people laugh all around me.
"Hae Jin!" Kim Lee called out then ran up to me.
"Hae Jin, are you alright?" He asked.
I held my hand up to Kim Lee to make him stop talking then I slowly started to walk out of the cafeteria and headed straight over to the boy's locker room so I can wash the food out of my clothes and hair. Once I made sure my body and hair was rid of food, I got out of the shower and slipped on my gym uniform then stuffed my dirty uniform into a bag.
I heard someone walk into the locker room, but I figured it was Kim Lee so I didn't bother to say hi. Though, it wasn't Kim Lee at all. Instead, it was none other than Yoon Yi.
"Are you alright?" He asked, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
I looked over at him. "I didn't think you cared..." I said.
"If I didn't care, I would have never saved you from drowning the other day." He said.
I nodded then looked away from him and grabbed my bag. Yoon Yi walked over to me and reached his hand out to touch me. I slightly pulled back, not sure what he's doing when he touched my hair and tossed a piece of food away.
"You missed a spot." He said.
"Oh...Thanks." I said then started walking out of the locker room with Yoon Yi following after me.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"Home. There's no reason for me to stay here and I don't want any teachers complaining to me about how i'm not wearing my uniform." I explained.
Yoon Yi nodded. "Want me to drive you home?" He asked.
I stared at Yoon Yi, completely shocked by his offer. I really didn't think that Yoon Yi cared about me like that. I thought he didn't know me or even forgot my name. Maybe Yoon Yi isn't as bad as I thought..
I shook my head, sad that I have to turn down his offer. I'm still a bit paranoid about people coming over to my apartment.
"No thanks. I'll just take the bus." I said.
Yoon Yi nodded. "Alright. Be safe." He said then started walking back to the cafeteria.
As I watched Yoon Yi leave, I had a smile on my face. I'm really glad that Yoon Yi does care about me enough to come check up on me in times like this. He could've not cared like everybody else and just laugh at me, but he didn't. He's...different.
