I managed to get through a couple classes without any problems. If anybody started whispering about me, I would just ignore them. I'm used to attention like that anyways so it doesn't bother me as much anymore. I just want to have a quiet year without trouble.
I sighed because now it's lunch time and I didn't really bring any lunch from home. So instead, I just sat at my desk while I watched most of the class leave the room to go to the cafeteria. I started to feel my stomach growling, but I ignored it.
"Hey, you going to eat lunch?" A voice asked.
I looked up to see a boy with blonde hair, staring down at me.
I shrugged then looked out the window. "Not really..."
"Hmm..." The boy crossed his arms. "That won't do. Wait here and i'll be back." He said then ran out of the classroom.
I watched him leave, wondering what he's up to before I shrugged and looked out the window again. A few minutes later, the same boy walked back into the classroom with two cups of ramen in his hands. He set one down on my desk then leaned against the desk in front of me and started opening up his ramen cup.
"I'm not hungry." I said then suddenly, my stomach started to growl really loudly.
I looked up and saw the boy chuckling.
"Uh huh..." He said then started to eat his ramen.
I sighed then grabbed my cup and opened it up. I picked up my chopsticks and started to pick some of the noodles up and slurped them into my mouth.
"By the way, my name is Kang Kim Lee. You're Park Hae Jin right?" He asked.
I nodded without looking at him as I continued to eat my noodles.
"I see. I see. Well, I hope we can be friends. I don't really have any friends here at this school. I know we're only first years, but..." He trailed off.
"I'm not really looking for any friends..." I quickly cut him off.
"Huh?" He said, looking at me.
I finished chewing my food then I stared straight into his eyes.
"I said i'm not looking for friends..." I said coldly.
All Kim Lee did was stare at me, looking a little hurt before he softly smiled then he started to chuckle. I stared at him, wondering what his problem is.
"Everybody needs a friend." He said.
"Well, not me." I said then finished up my ramen before I stood up to go throw it away in the trash can.
"Oh! I'll do it! I'm done also." He said then quickly snatched my chopsticks and empty ramen cup from my hands.
I sighed as I watched him go throw them away in the trash can then I sat back down in my seat and stared out the window again. Kim Lee walked back over to me and sat down in the empty seat in front of me.
"You won't go away huh?" I asked.
Kim Lee shook his head with a smile. "Even though we barely know each other, I could tell you're pretty lonely. I am too. I've always been lonely ever since grade school. I've had trouble making friends and people would tease me because I looked like a girl..."
I looked over at Kim Lee in disbelief. "But you're..."
"When I was in grade school, I had really long hair. To the point where it made me look like a girl. Once I reached middle school, I cut it all off and everybody was surprised to see that i'm a boy and not a girl." He said then smiled.
I blinked my eyes, surprised at his confession.
"So...I know what it's like to be alone. People are always judging you and talking about you behind your back....It sucks, but it is what it is." He said then shrugged.
I shrugged also then looked out the window. I don't want to admit it, but...I kinda do feel a connection with Kim Lee. At first, I thought he was an annoying boy that would try so hard to be my friend because I look like a loner, but after hearing his story, I can see why he's so persistent with trying to be my friend and it doesn't seem like he's lying about his story either.
"Alright." I said.
"Huh?" He said.
I sighed then looked at Kim Lee with soft eyes.
"I'll be your...friend I guess."
Immediately, Kim Lee smiled brightly. "Awesome!"
I nodded. "Just make sure you don't annoy me alright?" I warned.
Kim Lee nodded then smiled again. "I'm glad. I'm really glad." He said then took my hand into his.
"Um...yeah. Don't do this." I said then quickly snatched my hand away from his.
"R-right. Sorry. I'm just so excited."
I sighed and rolled his eyes.
"I can tell just by your voice..." I said.
Kim Lee smiled shyly then blushed. "S-sorry..."
I shrugged then rested my chin in my hand and looked Kim Lee over. Honestly, he's really not that bad at all. Once you get to know him and get past his...hyperness. Overall, I probably need someone by my side so I can get through this school year. Even though at first, I planned to go through it alone, but maybe Kim Lee can give me tips about the school and the students that go here.
